Finished up the semester with two A's and two A-minuses, giving me a 3.84 in my first semester of college. Not really happy with my professor who gave me an A- in Freshmen Seminar (a [really *(censored)* stupid] writing and discussion class) when I never got anything lower than an A- on an essay.

Other than that, college is going pretty well. I couldn't possibly miss high school less.

first semester grades finally came out today...

1st period: Honors Technology 2.0 (A+) -- pretty easy, I managed to get through this class doing the bare minimum most of the time; it seems the teacher is going to make us actually do stuff, at least for a few weeks, this semester -- we even have a quiz at some point (this is an elective!)
2nd period: Honors Forensic Science (B+) -- I really like this class, we learn about some pretty cool stuff. Our current topic of study is death, specifically determining the time of death based on levels of rigor mortis found in the body
3rd period: Honors Advanced Digital Media (A+) -- this might be my favorite class. we're doing this interesting project to start off the semester; it's a design thinking crash course from Stanford's d. school, and we're working in groups to "redefine the gift-giving experience". For example, my partner said he once gave the same gift as someone else (and thus his gift was not as highly appreciated), and so my sketches to help him avoid such an incident in the future included a gift card, X-ray goggles, and the ability to read minds.
4th period: Study Hall -- trying to transfer into honors study hall for the GPA bump but they seem to...not offer that? peculiar
Lunch -- I tried AP Lunch for a little while but transferred back into regular lunch after two weeks; being forced to eat an entire meal in 7 minutes while calculating the exact nutrition facts of each bite was a little too much
5th period: Government (A) -- this becomes Economics in the second semester. this class gives the basketball coach an opportunity to tease me when I miss practice, as I did today (practice was at 6:30 am, I didn't get to sleep until like 11:30, so I woke up at 5:30 super tired and ended up sleeping in until 7:30)
6th period: AP Statistics (A-) -- I really like this class. We were given 1 hour, 45 minutes for the final exam and I finished mine in 47 minutes (including double- and triple-checking my work), so I had 58 minutes to kill with only a piece of paper to entertain me. I ended up sketching a couple of car designs (something I've gotten back into after really liking it as a kid), making a few lists (my teacher likes it when I do this on the back of tests; this test's lists included a list of all the streets in the city I could think of, a list of all the cities in Indiana I could think of, a list of all the types of cheese I could think of, and something else I can't remember), and trying (and failing) to make a couple of Sudoku puzzles from scratch
7th period: AP Literature and Composition (B) -- I got a B on my final project (that huge critical analysis paper) and a B+ on my final exam. We're about to begin reading Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities.

All said, that comes out to about a 4.36 weighted GPA. Not bad.

Got called into a very official meeting today with the school principal and guidance counselor and was pretty nervous... But it turns out it was just to tell me that I'm Valedictorian

Simple. There are like twenty other kids in his class and half of them are the football team.

@Paul: Close, there are actually 14 of us, but I did have a 4.0 so the best someone could have done was tie me.
