The thing is, who was actually booing? It's not like many real fans actually get to go to All-Star or playoff games. The stadiums are usually full of celebrities, wannabe celebrities, and corporate idiots who usually can't name more than a handful of players on their home team.

Tough night for Uggla. I think the initial error got in his head and he never pulled it together. I imagine you could see it snowballing on him, both at the plate and in the field.

Any of you guys make it to the end? I was pretty bored with it and turned the game off after the 6th and went and did something else. For as long as the game went, it really doesn't sound like it was all that well played. More about what the NL didn't do than what the AL did do to win it. But it was cool that Michael Young got the game winner again. Texas may not ever reap the benefit of the AL winning, but you can't say the Rangers don't pull their weight at the AS game -lol- Between Blaylock and Young you've got 3 game winners in the last several years :)

I watched the first 2 innings then came and got on the internet, and then I went to watch the 9th inning and ended up watching all of it, I wish the NL would've won though.

Yeah, I watched the whole thing. I enjoyed it. I'm on the west coast so it ended at a reasonable hour. About 10:30.

if you stayed to listen when Pap pitched... and gave up the run, you'd know that the Yankee fans were going to give it to him.

They couldn't have actually watched they game if they blame him for it. It should be unearned. A Red Sox pitcher and Navarro throws it away, a Yankee pitcher and he guns him out. Coincidence?I think not. He's just jealous that the Sox got past them.

"Who cares if it's unearned or not, a RED SOX was on the mound when it happened, it MUST be his fault."

I suspect a lot of synapsis killing alcohol was sold that day...

Yanks fans hit a new low - the article on Papelbon was ignorant and inflammatory, and the Bronx parade-goers chanting threats at his pregnant wife was about the lowest I've ever heard of, even for Yankee fans.

top that off by the resounding boos for all Boston starters, including the manager, with all those hall-of-famers on the field...pretty classy again. Then with Pap on the mound, and the game at stake, they chant at him to try to break his concentration; hello, the Yankees are in the AL, numbskulls. Jeezus, a great parade and event were organized by MLb and the Yankees office, and it gets mired up by disrespectful, stupid Bronxers.

I can say I am very proud of Tito and the Sox crew; despite all this crap they went out and performed, including a stellar MVP performance by Drew. Francona went out of his way to take A-Rod and Jeter out mid-inning, to give the home fans a chance to applaud their efforts...AND he saved Mo Rivera for the appropriate time, also bringing him in to massive fan applause. Glad one side of the rivalry actually showed some class tonight.

I consider my self one of the more clear-headed Yank fans and less-biased.
First of all, where was the article? I never saw anything about him. Second, obviously going after his wife was stupid and disgusting. I don't care how much of a Die-Hard you are, that's going too far. But just because a few stupid Yankee fans did that doesn't mean that Yankee fans in general are all at a new low. There have been plenty of worse things I'm sure done by Yanks and Red Sox which often shame us all in the name of rivalry. We get so passionate about the game that we forget that there are people on the other side and there are more important things then baseball. Now I didn't see the introductions (I didn't realize they were hall-of-famers out there. I thought they were just dragging it out to make money off of commercials or something. I felt stupid when I saw the last hall-of-famer), but despite my disapproval, I'm not too surprised. If this was in Fenway, would it really be any different? The boos for Boston players was not surprising at all. That would without happen just as loud at Fenway for sure. Plus, if Joe Girardi or Torre won the World Series, would you cheer for him? They did cheer for Youkelis however.
Now Paplebon himself in someways had it coming (not his wife). He said apparently some very disrespectful things about Moe and how he thinks he (Paplebon) should save the game despite the fact that Mo has been perfect. There are numerous times where he has said some pretty snotty things that have disgusted me. While there are numerous good-hearted and kind players on the Sox like Ortiz, Youkilis, and Francona, I hope you agree with me when I say that Paplebon can be a bit of a head-case at times.
Finally, despite my hatred of Francona (he's too damn good), he is very classy and I appreciated the gesture. I would have expected the same thing from Torre or Girardi in Fenway and it was well appreciated. I don't know why he gave A-Rod two at-bats though. The yankee players themselves treated the sox with respect especially Jeter and MO. Numerous times you could see them having friendly conversations. Girardi appeared to be very kind as well and was catching Paplebon (I think) at one point. Giradi has said nice things about Francona multiple times.
By the way Cooldude, there is no way that wasn't a coincidence. First, look at the Rays record. The only team who plays better at home and worse on the road (in comparison) are the Sox. They have a good chance at make the play offs and they need that home field advantage if they make it to the WS. Second, Navarro is a nice guy and I think that's behind him. It was a both of there faults and besides that Navarro was solid behind the plate.
Two more things that are kind of unrelated. First of all, I was really pissed at Paplebon when he almost lost the game. Normally it would be fine but after all his talk about he he should be saving the game, I was really angry. Second, anyone else enjoy Yogi's chat with the announcers.
Yogi: Why do you swing at high fast balls?
Jeter: What do you mean, you always swung at them too?
Yogi: No, I hit them. You swing at them.

i'm thinking that the chanting during the 8th inning intended for papelbon rattled uggla as well. during the "over rated" chant, he proceded to strikeout to get the "ball rolling." a victim of tough luck and bad timing.

of course in MLB, most fans aren't known for their kindness, especially for teams playing in rival stadiums. the tendency is to drink massive amounts of alcohol and go overboard as i'm sure many of us have witnessed at ballparks. all star games are no exception where tradition has home team fans booing rival players regardless if which side they are playing on that day. it was clear that players and managers on the field and in the dugout respected each other and were having fun but that can't always be said during the regular season, hence the retaliation and brawls onfield that often taint the game and the mindstate of the fans. that being said, papelbon didn't really help his cause by saying those remarks about rivera. he is good but has a ways to go before reaching mariano's legendary status.
