No, but seriously, the Warriors were just the first team I thought of. Then it was easy.

After a five hour flight, the three had arrived in New York City, the Big Apple, the City That Never Sleeps. And for Jason, let's just say was going to make the other team stay up a little more if ya get what I'm saying.

They landed at about 7:21 A.M. on the day before the Showcase. They headed to their hotel via limousine. The NBA wanted all their players riding in style this year. When they arrived at the hotel, they checked into their rooms and fell right asleep. They were all experiencing extreme jet lag. Jason was too tired to do his missed shots routine. Jess was so tired, she didn't want to stand on her tip toes to kiss Jason. And Robin, well he was so tired, he couldn't be tired.

They all woke four hours later, when they would usually wake up. They were all tired and grouchy, but Jason had to get ready for the show. He woke up first, tired and grouchy of course, and threw ice cold water on himself and Jess and Robin. They were mad, but awake. Jason and Jess headed to a nearby gym, while Robin fell back asleep on the way out, so they decided to leave without him.

At the gym, Jess helped out Jason with his practice routine. By the end of the day, it seemed like he improved his three point shot and his mid range game. He also made difficult passes to Jess to help him out with the necessities of a Point Guard. By the end of the day, he was ready for the challenge.

"By the time I'm done with this All-Star team, they'll have a whole new meaning for City that Never Sleeps," Jason said to Jess.

"You do that," she said. "I'll be embarrassing you in the stands."

"Thanks."

She gave a gleeful face and said, "You're welcome!"

"Time to shine."

It was time for the Rookie Showcase.

"Hi everyone welcome to the NBA Rookie Showcase, where we will get to see the great young and up-and-coming talent in this years draft..." said Kevin Harlem, with Clark Kellog and Steve Kher.

Here is the Starting Line Up for the Elites:
PG - Jason De La Cruz
SG - George Turner
SF - Lee McDaniel
PF - Joe Patterson
C - Derrick Gibson

Rookie Stars:
PG - Arron Dixon
SG - Ricky Reid
SF - Dave Foster
PF - Cliff Davis
C - Nick Brown

Jason was now on the court, hyped up and ready to go. Before the start of the game, he gave his pounds and bro-hugs to the Rookie Stars. The horn blew and it was time for the game.

Derrick Gibson won the tip for the Elites and the career of Jason had begun. He played it safe in the first half, making it splash from downtown and dishing out assist like it was nobody's business. At the half, the Elites lead and Jason's performance was great. His only flaw was the lack of steals in the game.

In the second half, the scouts got to see Jason's eager side. He committed four turnovers after not turning over the ball one in the first half. He redeemed himself with key shots and assists and lead the Elites to a victory.

Final Stats:
14 Points, 8 Assists, 4 Rebounds,
Key Non-Stat:
4 Turnovers...
Teammate Grade:
B+

After the game, Jason was interviewed by three teams, the Golden State Warriors, the Houston Rockets, and his hometown team, the Utah Jazz. He expressed a lack of interest in the Golden State Warriors and flat out dissed the franchiser (sorry Warriors). He expressed somewhat of an interest in the Rockets. They didn't have a main Point Guard and they had the pieces to rebuild. Finally, he showed an extreme interest in the Utah Jazz. He said all the right answers to the Jazz head scout and come draft day, he may even get drafted by them.

TO BE CONTINUED!!!

Some of them. I don't really feel like playing PP so right now, I'm only going to be doing JDLC. So, the PP's are on life support, but they aren't dead.

Continuing
Today was the day. Draft night 2011. Jason, along with his dad, girlfriend, and newly aquired agent, Leo Heyward, were sitting at a table in the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ waiting for the clock to strike 7 EST. The mock draft had him going 13th to the Phoenix Suns, right after the Utah Jazz. He didn't really want that.

"I'm so nervous," said Jason. "I hope to God that I don't get drafted by the Warriors or the SUNS."

"You nervous," said his dad. "I've had to train you for this your whole life. Now I have to see if all that practice has been worth while boy!"

"Guys, calm down," said Jess. "With Jason skill, he could get drafted before the second half of that board!" Just then, the clock struck 7 o'clock and David Stern began.

"Good evening and welcome to the 2011 NBA Draft. Tonight, we recognize a new class of basketball talent, that has made it's way to the NBA. Their dedication and hard work out of their families has paid off and this moment is a promising new step in their careers. It is also a time of extrodinary optimisim and hope for the fans of teams as they look for yet additional great players to make their teams better (Ah Ah DUH). The selections that are will be viewed by millions of NBA fans
around the world in more that 200 countries as they make their way to become NBA players. Everyone is ready, so let's begin. With the first pick in the 2011 NBA draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers select Doug Martin from the university of Michigan..." The list went on and on until they got to the 10th pick with the Golden State Warriors:

"With the 10th pick of the 2011 NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors select George Turner from the University of Oklahoma."

"Phew," thought Jason.

"Here comes the Jazz!" said Jess.

"With the 11th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, the Utah Jazz select, Jason De La Cruz from the University of California." Jason just erupted. He started celebrating at his table. He hugged his Robin, Jess, and even Leo. He went up to the stage, was presented his hat, and shook hands with the commissioner. He had never felt so proud in his life. About 100 pictures were taken before he stepped off.

Before he could do anything else, the Scout from the Jazz and Leo came up to him.

"I'd love to stay and chat," said Leo, "but I got to go negotiate. Wish me luck brotha!" They did their handshake and he went off.

They both of them went into a room and negotiated from about an easy 10 minutes. Leo stepped out with excitement in his eye.

"Bro, I got you a sweet contract," he said eager. "2 Year, 1.49 Million! You're a millionaire!" Another handshake. Jason told them the news. Leo stopped him again. "They also got you this sweet billboard. Check it out. I got a picture of it on my phone."

Now that all of the buzz was out of the way, it was Jason to finally face the real challenge. His first NBA game. His first game would be a "Key Game" as his coach described it. They would be playing against the Houston Rockets and he would be playing in his first NBA game.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The arena was electrifying and the crowd was rocking, ready for another season of hope for the Jazz. They had a great string of players, but could never put the pieces together to form a championship team. But they had Jason, who was ready to bring his moves into the NBA and right into the face of the Jazz.

Jason started out on the bench, of course. They couldn't have a rookie starting in his first game. He was first subbed in at about 5 minute mark as a Shooting Guard to guard 3 point shooter Courtney Lee. From the getgo, he had a difficult time guarding him. They inbounded the ball to him and Lee rushed right passed him, only to be fouled by Jason. Nice way to start of a game.

Jason got redemption later on when he made a fake shot pass to Kirilinco for an easy 2 points. It got him going with his first assist. He got a little more redeption when he shot a three right in Courtney Lee's face. It knocked him down, but he made it with ease. He would go on the make 3 more threes to add to his total on the night. Later in the game, he got a chance to shoot his first foul shots when he just missed an And-1 by getting fouled by Lee. He made 2 with ease. The Jazz would go on to win the game and Jason now had a game under his belt.

Final Stats:
14 Points, 1 Rebound, 5 Assists, 1 Steal, 1 Block, 50% FG, 5 Turnovers...
Teammate Grade:
B-

After the game, he had his first press conference:

Reporter: Now that game 1 of your NBA career is in the books, how would you rate your performance?

Jason: Well, I obviously didn't play too many minutes out there, bu I felt like I was doing the right things during the time that I was on the court. So, I feel like I can grow from this performance.
