Suggestion (in lovely step-by-step format):
1. Assign all active members a random number (from 1 to however many there are)
2. PM them their number (so they don't knock themselves out)
3. Take turns picking numbers and attempting to knock everyone else out before you are.

1. I may do that.
2. It's part of the fun and suspense when you don't know your own number, so you may end up knocking yourself out.
3. Ehh...the turns part I'm not a huge fan of. Sorry! I may include it later, but for now, not a huge fan.

The problem with assigning everyone a number and having turns is that some people may not want to participate which would put the game on hold. I don't really have the patience to wait for everybody to respond. That's my problem...

Another way to prevent people from going again and again would be to set a limit on numbers, say, 5 or so per person?

And I see your point, it would take a while to set up, but only the first time. Just set up a sign-up topic and once we get a good number of people get going, get started In the meantime, we could just continue this.
