Yellow Card is like a warning, and a red card is an ejection.

Correct, DN. If an especially serious foul is called, a player may be given a yellow card.
Think of them like technical fouls in basketball. The first time doesn't mean all that much other than to be more cautious, but if you get a second yellow card, you get a red card, which means an automatic ejection. Of course, you can just get a red card instead of two yellows, which I suppose would be like a flagrant foul in basketball.

*coughZinedineZidaneheadbuttcough* :P

And if I'm not mistaken, a red card means you're out for the next match your team plays as well, at least in the pros.

A red card or even two yellows in the tournament (even non-consecutive days) can mean you miss automatically the next game

I had to make a Powerpoint with my friend in school about our lives. One slide was about a big fight so I put this in and said it was us fighting.

An automatic red card results in a 3 game suspension in the EPL, but it could be reduced on an appeal. 2 yellow cards is less severe which will be a automatic 1 game suspension. There is a difference in the offenses that can lead to the 2 different cards. An example is such that if you are the last player between the goalie and the player, you make a challenge, you WILL get an automatic red card if the player loses possession of the ball. Another example is that if you purposely use you hands in anyway to touch or block the ball, it will be an automatic red. Yellow cards vary from bad tackles to poor sportsmanship and bad attitude. However, in the world cup, I think an automatic red card is a 2 game or 1 game suspension, but 2 yellows is definitely a one game suspension.

Guys, pick your potential finals matchup okay?

If Slovenia manages to pull off a win against England or the U.S. and advances to the next round, I will laugh so hard I can't even think of a suitable analogy.

Why?

Because it'll likely mean the U.S. is knocked out, and all the hype leading up to the World Cup will be null and void just like that.

Oh yes, and I can't wait to watch Brazil beat North Korea so hard today, they'll lose a missile. :P

Don't be so sure Sjax, I think North Korea is very under rated and will give all of the three power teams fits with their defense first 5-4-1 style of play.

That being said, I think Brazil is gonna win. Just not a blowout style. Cause really, can anyone beat Brazil?

that's the same type of formation I use in my soccer video games.
or wait, it was 4-5-1, but it's still defense-oriented. :P

and you are right, nobody will beat Brazil. I have them over Germany in the title game, I think.

EDIT: Yes, though I forgot the tiebreaker. :?

Well, South Africa has become the first host team to not make it to the knockout stage today, even though they beat France today.

In other news, Portugal beat North Korea 7-0  , The USA had a blown call ruin a win for them, but they can advace with a win tomarrow. Also, Switzerland beat Spain  (this timme for real  ). All this stuff happened between the last post and this post  .

I made a bet with my friend. If Argentina wins, I owe him 20 bucks. If Slovenia wins, he owes me 100 bucks.

Really I think Portugal will win but Slovenia is my sleeper pick and I think they have a good shot too. I saw them play against the US and they look very impressive.

I'm gonna laugh till me side hurts if England loses tomarrow. I think the US will beat Algeria and I honestly think England will beat Slovenia. But if Slovania wins, they get the number one seed and play (at least I hope play) Serbia. That leaves the US with Germany. Yeah! Group C gets destroyed!

Us Aussies could ask the same. Kewell gets redcarded yet a Ghana player dangerously tackles one of the aussies which in any other game would be a red card yet he gets a yellow.
