i think this game would be better if it didnt have the home field advantage prize. its supposed to be fun and to be a break from the season, a weekend party to say. why dont we use the interleague play to determine home field by which ever league gets the most wins gets home field, and (you most likly would disagree with me) i dont see the point of home field advantage. to me there is no advantage everyone is even, i really dont see how it plays a factor

I agree that the All-Star game shouldn't determine home-field advantage for the World Series. The simplest solution would be to award it to the team with the most wins during the regular season.

Home-field advantage does matter. Baseball is the only major team sport where the playing fields are not uniform. Players at home should have better knowledge about whether slow rollers down the line stay fair or go foul, how balls carom around outfield walls, how much foul territory there is, etc. Home players develop a feel for these things. Visiting players can't if they've been a ballpark for only a few games.

The only reason that I'm not mad about the homefield advantage is because it gives me something to cheer about

It shouldn't be home-field advantage for the winner but I would like it to have done type of meaning

And I'm so excited for homerun derby!

yes i do love that our sport allows creativity in playing fields, but that advantage can only go so far. im sure the other team has done some studying of the field and maybe have played on the field, so that advantage can be slimed done or it goes away. the only other advantage i can think of would be how the groudkeepers set up the field by how there guys like it. its a small advantage but i think you can count it

My starters for the game are Tim Lincecum for the NL and AL I'm stuck between Greinke and Halladay. Verlander could make a case to start.

I pick AL to win 3-2 :)

W-Josh Beckett
L-Johan Santana :)
S-Mariano Rivera

HR-Teixeira (Go-Ahead 2 run shot off Santana in the 5th/6th), Victor Martinez (Solo shot off Bell?? in the 7th), Pujols (Led off the 2nd with a solo shot of Greinke/Halladay)
RBI-Teixeira 2, Martinez 1, Pujols 1, Utley 1

MVP is Teixeira, dang I'm bias. This is what I think the lineup is going to be.

AL
RF - Ichiro
SS - Jeter
C - Mauer
LF - Bay
1B - Teixeira
3B - Longoria
2B - Pedroia
CF - Hamilton (Sorry, but he doesn't even deserve to be in the all star game)
P - Greinke/Halladay

NL
SS - Ramirez
2B - Utley
LF - Braun
1B - Pujols
RF - Ibanez
3B - Wright
CF - Beltran
C - Molina
P - Lincecum

Opinions?

did anyone see the sportsnation show when they were talking about if fans should vote for starters in the all star game? one of the sports casters said fans shouldnt because of the voting of the player on the AL who was out for most of the time and sucked when he was playing. anyway the funny part about this was that the had poll for the fans the results,

50% said yes
50% said no

i say this is biggest I DONT KNOW i ever seen

I hope all that hard work of voting paid off!

Here it is:

Well, it came down to Texas 2B Ian Kinsler and Brandon Inge in the AL and Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval and Phillies CF Shane Victorino in the NL…wait, my sources are telling me….I hope it’s good news!

AL: Brandon Inge
NL: Shane Victorino

its mostly about fan bases for final votes(and definatly for the all-star game)

I'll try to make my lineup based on stats(It might not be accurate because I might miss some people)

American League:

C- Joe Mauer
1B- Russell Branyan
2B- Aaron Hill
SS- Derek Jeter
3B- Evan Lonoria
OF- Ichiro Suzuki
OF- Adam Lind
OF- Torii Hunter(maybe)
SP- Zack Greinke

It was tough to pick the outfield, but everywhere else was somewhat easy
I picked Longoria over Inge because Longoria has 14 more doubles, is batting 20-30 points higher, and he only has 3 less homerun but there are probably more stats pointing to Longoria

National League

C- Brian McCann
1B- Albert Pujols
2B- Chase Utley
SS- Hanley Ramirez
3B- Pablo Sandoval
OF- Brad Hawpe
OF- Raul Ibanez
OF- Ryan Braun
SP- Tim Lincecum

Not a very good defensive outfield but thats who deserves it

Edit: I replace Barlett with Jeter but that'd be cheating because Lance's tean was the one who made me remember that Bartlett is having a great year

OF-Nelson Cruz
SP-Zach Grienke

C-Brian McCann
1B-Albert Pujols
2B-Chase Utley
