Fore arm training is good for hitting and bat speed. So is upper thigh work, especially if you want to pitch. That is were most of your throwing power is going to come from.

I'll work on the forearms, though I don't have the control or stamina for pitching (bad success mode player I guess). I prefer fielding anyway

Also, I hope you're getting some time in at the cages. Since they'll be expecting you to hit, lets see you slap some opposite field.

Pretty good. I work out between 2-3 days a week, an hour or so each. I stand around 6'0" @ 190 lbs., right around an ideal size, so I am currently focusing on arms / shoulders / chest area to increase batting power, and I'll do core / legs off and on to keep myself in proportion.

Don't neglect the core and legs because they are the most important part of your game. Your true batting power comes from your legs. Notice guys like Griffey, Granderson, Vlad. Massive legs and normal sized arms (for big leaugers anyway). Your bat speed comes from the pivot.

Your arm strength comes from creating momentum with your lower body and core as well as the strength from your rotator tendons. You'll be making throws in the field from all sorts of awkward positions and it's up to your core to maintain body control. Without it, you wont be making any Furcal like throws, on the money, with insane velocity.

Keep up the 2-3 Days a week but make sure you give those legs and core their due attention. It's what most players overlook and it really hurts them in the short and long run.

Fixed.

I think roger clements said it best when he pointed to his quads in a workout video and said "see these? these are the money makers." This is pretty much true across all sports, boxing, golf, hockey, etc. And yeah, your forearms generate a great deal of power in a relatively short part of the swing, as you "turn" on the ball.

And not to discourage you, but even if you don't make the team, playing in the Intermural Rec leagues (if you're campus has them) is a blast, and a great place to meet people.

Your legs have the biggest muscles in your body.

You'd be surprised at how much your bench press would go up by simply do squats all the time.

The only problem is, you can basically only do legs in the off season because you will barely be able to walk for about a day and a half. I used to workout a lot, and would dread doing legs every week. I don't think I could have practiced baseball (well) the next day after that.

Also if you did practice every day on top of doing legs once a week, your muscles would probably take three or four days to heal completely, making it hard to play in games or practice baseball all the time.

Although you could heal faster........

Mid season workouts should primarily be muscle maintenance as opposed to building. Building will leave you sore. Doing 2 sets of 12 reps will keep your muscles strong as well as maintain endurance. Building will just leave you sore and inflexible when game time comes.

How is the working out coming, DS?

I'm trying out for my high school basketball team, next year. I'm probably the biggest 14-year-old in the state of Florida, so I think I've got a chance.

Don't forget to get a luxury hand bag or something for Annie/Sarah. Pretty dang expensive though.

Very funny guys

I'm doing cardio right now to increase stamina and melt some pounds off. I picked up a glove the other day and tossed the ball around, it was like riding a bike, you never forget.

I'm not sure, I don't know too much about them to be honest. I'm going to use that as the drive to push myself harder so I can blow them all away when I tryout
