i still have the original DS, i'm hoping i can get this one (battery life is much improved, better color in the game, etc.).

Yeah

The sound is better
Better light makes the graphics look more colorful and better
Camera and sound recording is cool
Its smaller and screen is bigger.

SO its way better than a Lite

If you don't have a DS then the DSi is the way to go but if you already have a DSlite then it's not worth the money just for those features.

I have an old DS that I've had for 3 years. It's gotten pretty worn over the years. For instance:

*Hinge broken off when left in freezing car too long @ K-Wings game
*Yellow discoloration on top screen
*Picture freezes up all the time.

Yet, even though I remind my Mom to call Nintendo to fix it, she doesn't! I haven't played on it for months because of the issues.

You should get the DSi then if you can I had the original Ds from day 2 so mine was pretty warn ot

You have to just rely on the bottom screen, which is very difficult playing Madden '06, but easy (sort of) on Madden '08 and Mario Kart DS.

Also, my family's trying to save money, so I might not get the i.
