The Mets picked him up. I'm skeptical that he'll help much, but at least it'll only cost them $400k to give it a try.

Yeah, they were looking for a right-handed power bat off the bench. As for defense, he likely find time in both corners (because Murphy and Church hit from the left side), but I don't know if his 40-year-old shoulder will hold up for even semi-regular duty.
