How about that? First use of instant replay ever in this history of the World Baseball Classic. I don't know why it took so long to review. The ball was obviously gone on the replay ESPN showed us, it just came back onto the field of play.

Took about 6-7 minutes, i went to the bathroom to take a crap and they were still watching the review

not quite like the NFL, the umpires aren't as versed on instant replays. great game either way! this is what the WBC is all about!

by the way, does anyone think they've shown 2k9 and The Show commercials enough?! at least Lincecum and his double are entertaining. "and we don't listen to that!"

I am shocked that Cuba has been eliminated. Let's put that into perspective.

The 2009 WBC was the 79th international tournament the Cuban national baseball team has entered, going back to 1926. I'm counting their appearances in the Baseball World Cup, Central American and Caribbean Games, Intercontinental Cup, Olympics, Pan Am Games, and the WBC.

This is their record in those 79 appearances:

1st: 64
2nd: 10
3rd: 3 (most recently in 1951)
other: 2

The only other time the team finished worse than 3rd place was at the 1962 Central American and Caribbean Games, which was not surprising as the current national amateur baseball program had just been created that year, following Castro's ban on professional sports during the revolution.

I'd want Korea - Japan as the final. They've been the best teams so far, and it'd be interesting to see the result in their 5th!!! encounter. That kind of things don't happen on other international events.
