I also play baseball in a league, but I stink. I'm the power hitter who either walks or strikes out.(Think Barry Bonds with the steroids, but without the homers)

Excited about SSB Brawl? We'll have to exchange FC's once it arrives and pummel each other

Sorry guys... very rude of me to put this off. Guess you guys can call me Sims. I use to play baseball back in high school (pitcher, 1st, 3rd, OF). A fan of MLB, but don't really have a fav team anymore (although Pujols is the man). Really looking forward to seeing this guide done. I'm currently working on fleshing out the random events and all their outcomes (there are around 40 that I've come across and that's not counting the job events) I'll hopefully have them up soon!

Hey, my name's Adam, or a_boy52. Either one. I played baseball from the beginning of my memory until my junior year of high school when I completely tore my ACL in a collision playing summer federated ball. Haven't been the same since. But still love baseball and just getting out and throwing the ball.

Got PP on the first day, played an entire season right away, got busy with life and put it down, and am now pulling it back out and wondering how I could have ever put it down.

Hoping to make it to Opening Day at Safeco Field to see the Mariners and the Rangers play.

First day I've actually opened the free for all forum

My real name is Will, but I usually use the intentional mispelling Wyl online. Useless tidbit - Wyl was already taken on the gamespot/gamefaq boards, so I stuck "Fret" after it as a nod to having been a guitar player/musician for over 20 years.

As a kid I pitched and played shortstop, I was usually the Alvin Lockhart of my teams -lol- In high school I pitched and played 3B mostly, and on occasion SS or 2B. Though I've played every infield position in games at some point in high school (I don't mean all in the same game, just that over my high school career I played every IF position at least once). My least favorite by far was catcher. In college I was strictly a pitcher, but blew out my rotator cuff and quit after my sophomore year. It was just DII level anyway, so I knew I was pretty much at the end of the line once college was over anyway. I play in softball leagues still, mostly playing 3B or LF/Left Center. Annoying thing about getting older and being post-serious injury is that it takes me forever to get loose throwing, especially on cold evenings.

With MLBPP, I've had it since November and go through phases where I'll play mostly season mode or mostly success mode. Lately I've been on a success mode kick.

I grew up a Cardinals fan, though I can't stand Larussa and find it hard to root for them as long as he is the manager. I've lived in the Dallas area since '94 and over time have come to root for the local team (the Rangers), even though they're usually not very good.

I never really understood "getting loose" in terms of throwing, and I've been playing organized ball for 9 years.

I just see playing catch as a way to practice while waiting for everyone to show up, and working on accuracy - my arm would fit the category of scattershot.

It's always good practice to warm up before any activity :)

I would really like to play ball again but I work on weekends so I could practice all week but never play in a game. My body is still in good condition but I am slightly out of shape (6'0" 200lbs.) so all I would need to do is work out and I'd be in pretty damn good position to play again :)

Trust me, I had the same opinion on "getting loose" when I was your age. If I was playing the field rather than pitching I'd throw a little to kill time before the game, but that's about it.

I mentioned that I tore my rotator cuff in college, but I didn't say how I did it. True story - I was at Six Flags (amusement park) with my then fiance, her sister, and another friend. We were at the game booth where you throw baseballs and get a radar gun reading, and then you have to guess what speed you think you'll throw on your last ball - and if you are right you win a prize. Anyway, of course I hadn't loosened up at all and just came out throwing hard trying to show off. I threw one ball and the radar gun reading was well below what I thought it should be. So my ego got involved and on my next throw I cut it loose as hard as I could. I felt something pop, but didn't say anything. Then I went ahead and finished myself off by doing it a third time. On the third throw I felt like someone stuck a knife in my shoulder, and that was that. Pretty brilliant eh? Now I have to warm up by throwing short and then increasing the distance as I get loose in order to not have shoulder pain.

So the moral of the story is, take care of your body - you won't always be young :D

yeah, but I can't throw hard anyone - fringe player (contact hitter who runs the bases well - biggest assets are heart, brain, and, uh, guy stuff), so I don't have much to worry about.

I'd give anything to play baseball at a Varsity level in high school (I got 4 years, so wish me luck), let alone college. I've pitched twice in my entire "career." Last year, too. First outing, one inning one run against best team on the schedule - mop up duty, already down 10-2. Second outing (probably) last, twelve straights balls (two passed - town league catchers aren't so hot - I throw little slurves that are slower than Jamie Moyer's changeup in high school) and I was done. :P

Warming up is almost essential for me... I've yet to break something, but I've pulled enough hamstrings to warrant stretches and warmups before anything semi-strenuous.

I failed to warm up sufficently before a tennis match. The match went the distance, and in a dire attempt to "reach back for that one more serve" and busted my elbow, which in turn kills pitching, throwing, and batting, and the rest of my tennis career.

Ever since then, I've really lost control with my pitching/throwing (i've never really had power to pitch anyways) and really poor bat handling. Hopefully, with a little more free time, I can "re-learn" my touch.

Well I'm a little late, but my name is Scott Stafford and I'm a White Sox fan.(obviously)

Born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, now reside in the city itself.

Hoping the Sox can win it all again before I die. (good luck, lol)

well they aren't exactly getting any better. The Carlos Quentin deal was solid, but the Nick Swisher deal was one that a contender should make. Should of kept the prospects. Looking at positives of that deal there are many: US Cellular will make Swisher's stats go up. They can always trade him, too, and with better stats, they'll get better players. Even if they keep him, they will probably get the draft compensation (if they draft right, it'll be better than what they gave up).

But umm, your last three words say it all. :P

Nope they aren't, plenty of people around here were real disappointed with this last off-season and the horrible 2007 season itself.

Last year was pretty bad though, I can't see how they can be any worse. Most of the hitters was the biggest mystery, they are getting older but their track records stated they would play much better then they did in 2007.

Their record may be better, but from a player development, they're not so hot. As good as Swisher is, there's no way he's going to make the team a winner, and they traded away the future to get him. But, a lot of guys are getting older ...

Oh yeah, they are built to win now again or never with this team. Problem is the AL Central division with the Tigers and Cleveland is tough. I think the Twins lost a little in losing Santana, but they are still a dangerous team.

Another huge problem last year was a hard throwing but very young bullpen. They were terrible. The starters on the Sox are still pretty solid but really with no bullpen you are in trouble.

And another huge problem is no lead-off hitter.
