Well guys spring training is coming up! But can we please get a new topic once opening day starts because we need a NEW 2010 MLB Season thread

But anyways I really think it's weird how there are still many players out there that can be useful, just like last year

Some notables left:

1B
Hank Blalock
Russell Branyan
Carlos Delgado

2B
Felipe Lopez

3B
Joe Crede

OF
Johnny Damon(will likely sign soon)
Rocco Baldelli
Will Taveras
Gary Sheffield
Jermaine Dye

SP
Braden Looper
Pedro Martinez
Chien-Ming Wang
Jarrod Washburn

RP
Mike MacDougal
Joe Beimel
Chad Bradford
Kiko Calero

ALOT of these are injury prone/were injured last season

There are 3 power hitting lefty 1B's who were injured at times last season with Delgado out practically the whole season

Felipe Lopez hit over .300 and Boras failed him and so Lopez fired him and Crede has power but back problem have derailed him badly

Damon will sign soon, very likely with the Tigers. Sheffield is old and Baldelli was injured for a good amount of the year last season but can be useful. And Dye did bad in the 2nd half but can still hit 25+ homeruns

Wang is a risk but if he magically recovers and takes old form then he's a steal, Martinez is old but may still be able to risk and I think Washburn should resign with Seattle where he had sucess

Once more moves are made I think I can make predictions on the season

Pitchers and Catchers invited to spring training show up early for, as I call it, to get the rust out of those arms and legs after the season. They report earlier than fielders because I guess they need to, espically the pitchers, are essinatal to the team. Catchers as you well know, need a strong arm and they are the only player that can see the entire field.

Remaining optimistic about the Pirates, since we haven't been mathematically eliminated yet. We probably will be in a few weeks.

I remember the Pirates started out 2009 actually pretty well. My dad promised me that if they made the playoffs then he would take me to a game. Oh well....

Speaking of bad teams, what're you guys' thoughts on the Nationals this year? Jason Marquis, Ryan Zimmerman, Adam Dunn, Stephen Strasburg, and Chien-Ming Wang are all Nats. I'd say in a couple years, they'll be decent contenders in the NL East.

I think the Nationals will come in last place. Zimmerman, Zimmermann, and Dunn is not enough to carry a team.

I didn't mean this year, Bobby. I meant if they keep trying to improve, they'll be able to compete in a few years. And by compete, I mean not consistently finish in the basement. Winning the division will take a while.

Competing is not coming in the basement consistently? Do the Braves compete? How about the Blue Jays? How about the Astros? I wouldn't consider any of those teams competitors.

OK, how about this?
Finishing around second or third with a decent standing in the wild card.
