How did Pablo get the .7?

I told you he was ready for a good season. :D

A strikeout is 1/3 of a point, because a whole point for each would put too much weight on pitching. He had 2 and I rounded up, so...

Melonheads Lose Lead in 9th
Humongous Melonheads(1-1) - 1
Super-Duper Hornets(2-0) - 2

The first 4 innings of this game went scoreless, with just 3 hits by the Melonheads and 2 by the Hornets. In the top of the 5th, Achmed Khan singled, setting brother Amir up for an RBI double. Amir came out of the game after pitching one out in the 6th, and was replaced by Pablo Sanchez, who held the Hornets to just 2 hits and striking out 6 in his 2 and 2/3 innings, setting the team up for another win. Unfortunately, left hander Pete Wheeler gave up the game tying home run on the first pitch he threw, and proceeded, after getting a groundout, to give up back-to-back doubles, giving the Super-Duper Hornets a 2-1 victory and sending the Melonheads home disappointed.

Stats
Hitting
P. Wheeler - 1-4, K, SB, E
D. Robinson - 0-4, K(2), E(2)
P. Sanchez - 0-4, K(2)
K. Phillips - 0-4
T. Delvecchio - 1-3, K(2)
Ac. Khan - 1-3, R
Am. Khan - 3-3, 2B(2), RBI
S. Morgan - 1-3
K. Kawaguchi - 1-3

Pitching
Am. Khan - IP(5.1), K(4)
P. Sanchez - IP(2.2), K(6)
P. Wheeler - IP(0.1), ER(2), BSV, L

Points
1st - Amir Khan (Powerprosfan31) - 12.7 points
2nd - Pablo Sanchez (BrewersFuzz) - 2.7 points
3rd - Achmed Khan (PowerPro Jr) - 2 points
4th - Kenny Kawaguchi (Paul McCartney15) - 1 point
5th - Kiesha Phillips (Zumikaku) - 0 points
6th - Tony Delvecchio (lanceberkman) - -1 point
7th - Pete Wheeler (AgentP) - -5.7 points
8th - Dante Robinson (maccrash21) - -6 points

Points(total)
1st - Pablo Sanchez (BrewersFuzz) - 17.3 points
2nd - Achmed Khan (PowerPro Jr) - 13 points
3rd - Amir Khan (Powerprosfan31) - 12 points
4th - Tony Delvecchio (lanceberkman) - 10 points
5th - Kenny Kawaguchi (Paul McCartney15) - 9.7 points
6th - Kiesha Phillips (Zumikaku) - -2 points
7th - Dante Robinson (maccrash21) - -4 points
8th - Pete Wheeler (AgentP) - -9 points

There you have it. Juggernaut Pablo Sanchez has taken a respectable early lead, and Pete Wheeler has made many costly mistakes that have put him a solid 27.3 points out of first place. Surprisingly, Kiesha Phillips, who is now 0 for 8 on the season, is in 6th. Also, mac, I sincerely apologize for suggesting Dante Robinson. :P

I saw the blow lead in 9th, and was worried Pablo lost points. Then I saw he had 6 K's, and 0 R, and got happy! But then, he struck out himself 2 times, so... a meh game.

Well, he's definitely going to get better as I get used to him. He's got kind of a delayed swing that I still haven't gotten the timing down for. You can see evidence of this at about 16:45 of the following video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yc2Lz6WRyc

You can see that when he clicks (when the little bat disappears) it take a while for Dante to swing, compared to, say, Kenny Kawaguchi (the next batter). I'll figure it out, though, just like I figured out Tony's swing last season.

Yeah, I really struggled batting in this game. For some reason Pete Wheeler, who has a 3 out of 4 for pitching, just never seems to do as well as the other three. I'm definitely going to be giving Pablo the bulk of the save opportunities in the future, I just put him in early this time because I knew he was going to have to go for a while.

Dante's weird swing always screwed me up, too. He can be really good when he gets on base, though.

Melonheads Win in Shutout Fashion
Humongous Melonheads(2-1) - 4
Green Giants(0-3) - 0

In the game against the Green Giants, the Melonheads, led by ace Kenny Kawaguchi, won by a score of 4 to 0. Kawaguchi went 8 innings, striking out 10 and not allowing a run, before handing the ball over to Pete Wheeler in the bottom of the 9th. Wheeler pitched much better in today's non-save situation, not allowing a hit and notching a strikeout, closing out the game. The offense was fairly balanced, with 7 players combining for the team's 11 hits. Pablo Sanchez kicked off the scoring in the 3rd inning with a base hit that scored Pete Wheeler, who started the game with a single. The game stayed at 1-0 until the 8th inning, when Kiesha Phillips broke the game open with a bases loaded double. Tony Delvecchio capped off the game's scoring with an RBI single, setting the Melonheads up for their eventual 4-0 win. The kids in green will face off against the White Fishes, who are also 2 and 1, in two days at home.

Stats
Hitting
P. Wheeler - 2-4, R
D. Robinson - 2-4, R, K
P. Sanchez - 1-4, RBI, R
K. Phillips - 2-4, 2B, RBI(2)
T. Delvecchio - 1-4, RBI
Ac. Khan - 0-4
Am. Khan - 0-4, K
S. Morgan - 2-4, 2B, K
K. Kawaguchi - 1-3, R

Pitching
K. Kawaguchi - IP(8), K(10), W
P. Wheeler - IP, K

Points
1st - Kenny Kawaguchi (Paul McCartney15) - 15.3 points
2nd - Kiesha Phillips (Zumikaku) - 5 points
3rd - Pete Wheeler (AgentP) - 4.3 points
4th - Pablo Sanchez (BrewersFuzz) - 3 points
5th(t) - Dante Robinson (maccrash21) - 2 points
5th(t) - Tony Delvecchio (lanceberkman) - 2 points
7th - Achmed Khan (PowerPro Jr) - 0 points
8th - Amir Khan (Powerprosfan31) - -1 point

Points(total)
1st - Kenny Kawaguchi (Paul McCartney15) - 25 points
2nd - Pablo Sanchez (BrewersFuzz) - 20.3 points
3rd - Achmed Khan (PowerPro Jr) - 13 points
4th - Tony Delvecchio (lanceberkman) - 12 points
5th - Amir Khan (Powerprosfan31) - 11 points
6th - Kiesha Phillips (Zumikaku) - 3 points
7th - Dante Robinson (maccrash21) - -2 points
8th - Pete Wheeler (AgentP) - -4.7 points

Well, Kenny Kawaguchi snatched the lead with his incredible pitching performance, and Kiesha Phillips started to pull out of the gutter, although the middle pack of the Khan brothers and Tony Delvecchio is still quite a bit ahead of the bottom three. This week, though, was the best one so far, as the team made no errors and the lowest point total was just -1.

Thanks.

Oh, and fun fact: The Green Giants have purple uniforms because the Melonheads have the green ones.

Nice win! The scoreboard says 4-0, but in the description you put 4-1. What was the real score?

Oh, yeah, it was 4-0. Not sure why I put 4-1 in the description.

Melonheads Win Another Tight One
White Fishes(2-2) - 2
Humongous Melonheads(3-1) - 4

The Melonheads won again yesterday, pushing their record to a solid 3-1. The scoring began as soon as Pete Wheeler stepped to the plate in the bottom of the first, as he belted an opposite-field home run an incredible 510 feet. This feat was followed by back-to-back doubles courtesy of Dante Robinson and Pablo Sanchez. Unfortunately, Dante was thrown out at the plate, but Sanchez was brought around to score by an error on a Kiesha Phillips fly ball, putting the Melonheads up by 2 after just 4 batters. Amir Khan started the game, and held the Fishes to just 5 hits in his 6-inning quality start, allowing only 2 runs on a home run in the 4th. Pete Wheeler came into the game to pitch the 7th and 8th innings, striking out two and allowing a lone single, setting Pablo Sanchez up for an easy 1-2-3 save. The Melonheads are now locked in a 4-way tie for first place that includes the Monsters, Hornets, and the Crazy All Stars, who the Melonheads will look to beat in their next game on the road.

Stats
Hitting
P. Wheeler - 2-4, HR, RBI, R, E
D. Robinson - 2-4, 2B(2)
P. Sanchez - 2-4, 2B(2), R
K. Phillips - 0-4, RBI, E
T. Delvecchio - 1-3, R
Ac. Khan - 1-3, 2B, R
Am. Khan - 2-3, RBI(2)
S. Morgan - 1-3, E
K. Kawaguchi - 0-3

Pitching
Am. Khan - IP(6), ER(2), K(6), W
P. Wheeler - IP(2), K(2)
P. Sanchez - IP, K, SV

Points
1st - Amir Khan (Powerprosfan31) - 12 points
2nd - Pete Wheeler (AgentP) - 7.7 points
3rd - Pablo Sanchez (BrewersFuzz) - 7.3 points
4th - Dante Robinson (maccrash21) - 4 points
5th - Achmed Khan (PowerPro Jr) - 3 points
6th - Tony Delvecchio (lanceberkman) - 2 points
7th - Kenny Kawaguchi (Paul McCartney15) - 0 points
8th - Kiesha Phillips (Zumikaku) - -1 point

Points(total)
1st - Pablo Sanchez (BrewersFuzz) - 27.7 points
2nd - Kenny Kawaguchi (Paul McCartney15) - 25 points
3rd - Amir Khan (Powerprosfan31) - 23 points
4th - Achmed Khan (PowerPro Jr) - 16 points
5th - Tony Delvecchio (lanceberkman) - 14 points
6th - Pete Wheeler (AgentP) - 3 points
7th(t) - Kiesha Phillips (Zumikaku) - 2 points
7th(t) - Dante Robinson (maccrash21) - 2 points

The Point race still seems to be split into 3 tiers. Upper (Pablo, Kenny, and now Amir), Middle (Achmed and Tony), and Bottom (Pete, Kiesha, and Dante). Seems like pitching seems to be giving certain players a huge advantage, and I'm starting to think maybe I should tweak the point system (Make ER's -2? Let me know what you think.) Anyway, Pete had a much needed big game, although not having that error would have helped. And mac, I'm starting to get Dante's swing down, so expect a spike in performance. :)

I don't really care, I think the system is fine.

Another win! Nice. :D
