It was the first day at Danville Dragons baseball practice. The team took its name from the local high school and most players went directly through the system. There were 16 players at camp today, including me, Leo Michaels, and my friend, Mike Jones, a second and third baseman.

"Okay, pitchers over here, infielders there, outfielders in the outfield- you know, go to your position, okay? Catchers come talk with me." said William. The team used to be called the GreenApples until they moved in 2007 and renamed themselves. There were only two of us at short, me and a scrawny kid named Luke Hendrickson. The coach started spraying balls around to all the fielders.

I decided to ride with Jack and Luke over to their house. They seemed like really nice guys. Luke was cracking jokes the whole time, and Jack was talking about a story he was writing. We finally pulled up to an apartment complex with a sign reading "Dragon Apartments" on it.

"This is it?" I asked politely. "Yep. Just wait until we get inside!" replied Luke. They went in, introduced me to the manager, and walked over to the elevator. They pressed the "UP" button and went to the third floor. Luke walked to the left immediately and ended up in front of Room 307. He knocked on the door and said it was Luke and Jack with a friend. A man opened the door and I recognized him as a teacher at my old school, Danville Middle School. He introduced himself as Luke Barnett, Sr. and said that Alyssa and Ashley were in their room watching TV. I turned to Jack. "Who are Alyssa and Ashley?" I asked. "They're our sisters. I didn't mention them at first but Ashley loves drawing and Alyssa will probably want to be your friend. Ashley helps me with illustrations on my stories sometimes." "Cool. So where should we go now?" "My room?" Luke suggested. "Okay," we both agreed.

We went into Luke's room and he told us that he was sorry for the mess but that we could listen to music on his computer while playing games on it or talking. "So what type of music do you like, Leo? I have a little bit of everything."

I decided to go in Luke's closet and look for some CDs I had been thinking about buying, starting with El Camino by the Black Keys. I also decided to look for a rare necklace that I had a hunch Luke or Jack would have, called the "Shark Tooth Necklace". I have no idea why it is called that. I mean, it is a necklace, and it does have a shark's tooth on it, but... Anyways, I pulled out El Camino and handed it to Luke. "I really like 'Gold on the Ceiling', how about you?" "We actually haven't listened to this CD yet," said Luke. "Ah, well, is all of this yours?" I asked, sweeping my hand toward the closet. "Nope," Jack grinned. "We split it down the middle with the CD holder. Did you notice that they're organized, newest to oldest?" "Huh, I didn't realize that. So when do you guys get these?" "Oh, every week we go downtown and get dinner and buy a CD or two with our whole family." "Cool. So anyways, this is all you have? Total?" "Yep." "I guess I'll see what other CDs you have," I said as Luke began playing Lonely Boy. I, of course, was still looking for that elusive necklace. Then I spotted a flash of gold. I dug through Luke's stuff and pulled it out. It was the rare Shark Tooth Necklace! I took it and asked Luke, "Is this yours?" Luke said, "Yeah, but you can have it if you want." "Uh, thanks! Oh, I think I have to leave now. I need to get some dinner," I said. "By the way, tomorrow's Saturday, an off day. Want to get together again?" "Nah, Luke and I promised my dad we would go with him to the Boston Bruins hockey game tomorrow night," said Jack. "Okay," I said. "Guess I'll be going now." I left their house at 6:37 and went to get some dinner at Taco Bell.
