Hello all! There topic will be a tool for me and you to use to follow the RPG Story in a neat and organized chronological journey that doesn't include filtering through 32+ pages. So enjoy, but remember no posting!

Ten years ago in a prestigious summer baseball league(Up in Portland Oregon), there was a super star SS, only 18 years. His name was Allen Gray and he was on a fast track to the majors. He played for the Zulu Stingers and he was headed for the draft next summer, when he was driving in a car with his friends, when they ran a red light and got into a car crash. Two were killed and the other 3 were in serious condition. Gray had tore some ligaments in his elbow. Gray was forced to finish the season, but ended servilely injuring his arm in a practice. He then was sent the the Zulu team doctor who referred him to a surgeon. Gray undertook the surgery, but it failed and his arm was almost beyond repair. Gray never threw another baseball in his life....

Now the present the Zulu Stingers have never lost a championship and are the dominating presence in the summer league. With no competition besides one or two teams the league lost its prestigious value, only players that come to the top 3 teams are headed towards the majors, the rest are young men who can't let their faint dream go. On April 8 a phone call came for the now 28 year old Allen Grey, a new team has formed to try and balance the ranks of the summer league and they want Grey to be their coach. Grey wanting revenge now enters the as the Oregon Apples team's coach. Grey now has two and a half months to create a team that can challenge the Zulu Stingers.

Allen Grey walked into the Oregon Apple's Training Facility. It was a lot bigger than he thought it would be considering that he was a coach on a summer league team. "Ah hello Mr. Gray." Grey turned around to see the owner of the team Bob Pilfery. Mr Pilfery is one of the richest men on the west coast which says a lot. He has the third biggest yacht in the world and I honestly couldn't understand why he would be owning a summer baseball league instead of a major league team. "Hello to you Mr. Pilfery." "Mr Grey, come with me I will show you your office." The two men walked the empty corridors past empty locker rooms and empty weight rooms. "Um.. Mr Pilfery where are the players?" "Mr. Grey I thought you knew we were an empty roster." "But what about the entrance draft?" "Mr Grey I thought you knew about the rules of this summer league all new teams must be completely responsible for fielding their team."

Two hours later Grey was overheating his computer searching for prospects all over America. So far he has only found 3 liable prospects a dynamic fielding SS Keaton O'Bryan and solid hitting CF Buddy George and hometown 1B Zeke Wood . Grey picked up the phone and decided to call them there was no answer at O'Bryan's household(hopefully he was out playing baseball) or the Wood's residence, but there was an answer at the George household.

"Hello!?" answered on the other end
"Hi, I am Allen Grey coach of the Oregon Apples in the Pantoria Summer league, and I was wondering if you would like to come for a team tryout?"
"What, really this is great news!"
"Yes, team tryouts will be in 2 weeks on April 18, but of course I need your parents permission."
"Okay I will be there!"

Over the next week and a half Grey was hard at working writing reports calling recruits, and planning interviews. Eventually the day came of the team tryout April 18th. 52 days before the start of the season.

Grey walked into the Oregon Apples training facility and was greeted by the owner. Mr. Pilfery nodded to Grey as he walked in the building, Grey could tell Pilfery was excited for this day. Grey dropped his bags off at his office and then went into the large indoor field. It was amazing to see tons of workers putting together all the drills and stations that Grey specifically designed. Again Allen wondered why Pilfery would spend so much money on a small profit business like this.

"Ah, tryout day, you have to love this Mr.Grey." called Pilfery from behind me.
"Yes, the players should be here in a couple hours." Allen responded
"I forgot to ask how many players are coming?"
"27, I think, we need 16 for a roster correct?"
"You are correct Mr Grey."

Grey and the rest of the workers got the field ready and soon enough 12 pm came around.
"Here they come Coach." said one of the workers

26 players walked through the door each carried an unique air about them. They were all gathered on the mound.
Grey approached with his pitching and hitting coaches. Jim Abbot and Ted Ganither.
"Hey coach!" said a couple of players

"Hello, I am Coach Allen Grey and these are my assistent coaches, hitting coach Ted Ganither and pitching coach Jim Abbot, and over there is fielding coach Bill Grant." Allen said as he pointed behind him
A few murmurs arose from the crowd.
"Coach is that young guy, he sounded so much older on the phone."
Allen ignored them and went on.
"You all know what you are competing for, there are 27 of you here today and only 20 of you will be accepted on to this team, I am not one for making good speeches, but I think you all know the opportunity presented here a chance to be on this team, a chance to play summer ball, a chance to be noticed, a chance to win, and a chance for another chance." Allen's eyes flickered on his last words. Again questioning murmurs arose.
"A chance for another chance?" some questioned
"I have separated you into groups based on stats, skills and positions, go to the team trainer Pete Savard for your break down."
Allen and his assistants walked away.

"I can't make a good speech to save my life huh?"
"No way coach." said Ted
"A chance for another chance, what was that?" said Jim.
"I honestly have no idea" said Grey.
He blew his whistle and the tryouts started...

The whistle blew again. Grey was over by the fielding group with Bill Grant.
"Hey, Coach you have a great eye for fielding these guys are good." he said
"Who is standing out?" Grey questioned
"This SS, Keaton O'Brian, really good range, while not as good as you had."
"Range is good but what about reaction time and hand eye coordination? O"Brian come here."
An athletic looking player comes out of the 5 man crowd.
"Hi, Coach." he said without looking Grey in the eyes.
"Hello, I have a drill for you."
Grey took a couple sharpies and marked some balls, and tossed them to Grant. Grant nodded.
"O'Brian, Grant here will toss you some balls you must catch them while saying the color surrounding the number and the number. Ready?"
Keaton nodded and Grey blew the whistle.
Grant tossed the first one at Keaton.
"Green 3." Smack the ball hit his glove.
"Good, again"
"Orange, uh." SMACK the ball hit the top of Keaton's glove and flew away.
Keaton looked shaken up and smack his hand in his glove sighed and started back into line.
"O'Brian have some confidence jeez, and quit beaten your self up try again." said Grey

"Yeah Coach, right there 2nd basemen, pretty quick good time from glove to hand, Simpson is his name."
"Hey, Simpson every turn 2 against pro like speed?" asked Grey
"No, coach." he responded
"Wanna try?" Grey asked
Simpson nodded.
"Alright, he may not look it but Coach Grant was pretty fast in his day over like 100 years ago think you can beat him to the bag?"
Simpson nodded again. Grant laughed a little.
"O'Brian over here we need your help, double play and Simpson I wont be going easy on you." called Grant.
Grey blew his whistle, Keaton grabbed the high bouncer, flip it to Simpson.
"SAFE!"
"Come on, Simpson, get to the bag quicker, your in no position to throw to first even if you had the legs to get there, try again." critiqued Grey
Simpson opened his mouth to say something, but closed it
"Have something to day to me?" asked Grey

B. No sir, I will defiantly beat him to the bag this time!
C. No sir...
D. I was in a perfect position I just didn't want to get hurt that's all
E. Turning two isn't important for me now I'm gonna practice something else

"Huh, these two infielders are pretty timid." said Grant.
"They got the stuff to be fielding wizards they just need the confidence." said Grey

"Hey Bill any outfielders, showing up?"said Grey
"Yea, this guy can almost do it all in the field."
"Really, what's his name" asked Grey
"Thomas Valentine."
"T-Val huh?"
"Coach that has to be the worst nickname ever." said Grant
"Valentine over here." called Grant
"Alright Thomas I want you out in right Coach Grant says you have a great arm, we are gonna give you some situations were you need to show off a cannon whether its saving a run or sniping out a greedy hitter, you got to stop them all, okay."
"Yes, Coach!"
Whistle, Thomas had 4 or 5 assists through 7 attempts.
"Valentine you now will have a choice with a runner on 2nd with one out, single to left, try to get the easy out at second or gamble at home to save a run." called Coach Grant
"Yep." yelled Thomas from right.

C. charge the ball and try to get the runner at first
D. Toss it Home
E. "I want to be a catcher not a RF!"

Grey walked over to the batting cages, Ted Ganthier the hitting coach was there.
"Hows it going Ted."
"Lot of good contact, but most can't hit it where they ain't if you know what I mean, of course you do the .573 BA wasn't for nothing hah?"
"You don't need to patronize me Ted, you were always the better technical hitter growing up."
"Yeah I don't even know what to call your stance, anyway this kid right here, Buddy George has a real passion for the game."
"I like that in a hitter, not afraid of a pitcher or his pitch."
"Hey George, over here."
"Hello, Coach. what else do you want me to do?"
"George I want you to get in the box."
"What side, I'm a switchy"
"What's your more comfortable side."
"I feel more comfortable righty."
"Then go lefty."
"All right!"

"Ted, fire it up 102 mph."
"What 102? Your gonna hurt the kid he has no idea!."
"I know, trust me."
Whistle. SMACK. The ball hit the back of the batting cage and George ended up on the ground.
"Whoa."' exclaimed George
"Get ready next time its coming inside."
George nodded
"Allen your gonna hurt the kid, I'm telling you."
"Don't worry about it Ted."

"I wish I could of saw him play he was amazing, they say he started the Zulu dynasty." said Zeke Wood
"If you are such a Zulu fan why aren't you trying out for them."
"I don't know I guess I didn't make much of an impact." said Wood
"No, thats not it your old, senior right 22, the Zulu only offer tryouts to 18 year olds and younger, I was once on the Zulus." said hitting coach Ted.
"What's the commotion Ted?" asked Grey
"Nothing Coach, this kid is just a fan of the Stingers."
"OH." Allen's face darkened "Let's see what you can do."

"Alright Wood, were gonna throw you a number of different pitches, let's see where and ow you hit them." said Ted
"Alright I'll show you." said Wood

Grey was walking around the outfield picking up balls when. BANG a towering shot over his head. Grey ran over and found Ted.
"Who was that?"
"What Allen."
"Who hit the huge bomb?"
"It was one of those two they been blasting them all day."
"Hmm, let's meet them."
"Hey Joe and Baker over here."
Two tall guys walked over.
"Hi coach I'm Tobias Baker." said a cherry one.
"Hello and you?"
"...Joseph Jorgensen."
"Allen he's trying to intimidate YOU."
"I know Ted, you two are power hitters correct. Let's see how bout a home run derby, winner skips running practice.'
Jorgensen eyes lit up, while Tobias didn't change.
"Alright let's go" said Tobias
"Alright we will start at 50 mph and go up by 10 mph every two okay?"

PONG. PING. PINGGGGGGG.
"Alright guys this is 100mph." said Ted
"There both 8 for 10, these two will be crucial." said Grey
"Won't this be bad for them just hitting for power?"

"Hey Jim, how's pitching?"
"Not so good Coach, we only have a couple trying out and only have got the stuff."
"Did a pitcher named Max Lundgren show up?"
"Nope only the 6 here."
"But Jim there is 7 guys here."
"Yeah that guy over there the Japanese one, he doesn't speak very well English so he came here by mistake, but by god he's a great pitchers catcher he understands the game and picks great pitches."
"Oh good find Jim, let's test him out."
Grey and Jim walk over to Otaku Kamura
"Umm Hi.
Otaku just stares back at Grey.
"This isn't getting us anywhere how did you get him to practice, Jim?" asked Grey
"With signs." Jim then displayed crazy gestures and Otaku just nodded.
"Alright tell him in signs that I want him to pick the best pitches for the situation."
"Okay." Jim then got Otaku to practice

Its 3-2, bases loaded, 3-2 is the score bottom of the ninth pick the right pitch!
Decision TIME for redsfan
A. fork ball down and in
B. Fastball high
C. Back door curve
D. Meatball
E. Get confused at the signs for Jim and start dancing

"Hey Coach over here."
"What is it Jim?" asked Grey
"This is the best pitcher of the day Ryan Techer."
"Oh, hey Tech over here." called Grey
"Hello Coach Techer is fine, mate"
"ah so your Australia."
"Is there a problem, mate."
"No not a one, if you can say 'Your dingoes at my baby'"
"Not a chance Coach." he said and all three laughed.
"Well Ryan what do you think is your best attribute."
"My control."
"What are you pitches?"
"Knuckle, curve, 4 seamer and 2 seamer."
"Alright, Jim get the pitching tree ready."
"The what sir?"
"You'll see."
Jim set up the pitching tree which was a pole that held plates with a red circle in them.
"These plates will move around and you will get points if you hit the plate and more points if you get into the red circles. Chose the right pitch and it should be easy chose the wrong and it could miss completely. Technically you need 40 points to pass, btu since your not really competing for some specific let's just see how far you get."
And so the game began and Techer had 85.
"You almost broke the record 10 more points, if you get a bullseye you get the record." said Jim
"Alright mate."

the panel shoots out and Techer couldn't judge its movement he will have to guess
Decision TIME for DnK
A. Knuckle, I'm stumped hopefully I'm lucky
B. 2-seamer is easy to control, it has some move
C. 4-seamer I can't judge the movements so straight is the way to go
D. Curve Ball It has the biggest break maybe it will hit something?
E. I didn't get its movement, no way I can hit it.

"It almost the end of the day, hey Jim did Lundgren show up?"
"No Coach no one has seen him." said Jim
"Hey Coach what do you want me to do." said a voice
Grey turned around to see the very person he was looking for...
"Max your late."
"So, I'm here what more can you ask for."
"Get out."
"What!?"
"If you don't have the respect to be here on time then you don't deserve to be here."
"FINE I never wanted to come I was doing YOU a favor."
Max stormed off the field and out the building.
"Coach do you think that was wise in front of the other players, and from what you told me he is a good pitcher which we need."
"It gave the players something to think about Jim, if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen, and plus I know him he WILL be back mark my words."

At the end(Not yet) of the day Allen was walking out.
"Mr Grey it looked like it had gone well, I also liked you speech at the beginning very inspirational and meaningful." Mr Pilfery's eyes glinted on the last word
Allen shook it off.
"Thank you Mr Pilfery, It indeed went well, but we still have tomorrow and Thursday."
"Yes your right Mr Grey do you mind if I make an appearance on Thursday."
"Oh yeah go right on ahead." Allen was bewildered that Mr Pilfery asked his permission
"See you tomorrow Mr Grey."
"Yes you too."
Allen afraid of driving in cars walked home and went to bed at 5 pm which was very early for his standards.

It was about 4:30, the tryouts were over, the players had gone home, and the coaches met in the empty weight room.
"Sorry, Mr. Grey the meeting room is being refurbished right now," called Mr Pilfery from down the hall when Grey asked him where the coaches could meet.

"So, Bill any important items of business you want to share with the staff about our fielders?"
"Yeah sure coach, alright guys we got a couple o' nuggets in the rough, if you know what I mean." said Grant
"Diamonds, you meant Bill." corrected Ted.
"Uh yeah, anyway, well this SS Keaton O'Brian, he.." said Grant as he wrote the name down.
"Bill you spelt his name wrong it's a 'y' not an 'i'." corrected Grey.
"Okay, Coach, I'll change it, while whether or not I can spell his name doesn't matter right now, he's got the stuff coach, but his not confident, he is unsure he can make the play and even if he does he nit-picks the tiny details. Which is good and all when you get to a certain level, but he isn't there yet." explained Coach grant.
"As I remember correctly I had him on the hand-eye test correct? how did he finish?"asked Grey
"Above average coach, but his body language is timid, I can't have that in a SS, the hear of the D needs to have heart in him self, coach." answered Grant.
"Alright, I make a mental note about his passion, it will be tested if he wants to stay on this team."

"Next Bill." said Jim
"Yeah we worked with him today, coach, umm... what's his name uh Simpson, Frank Simpson."
"Oh yeah, double play boy." said Ted.
"Oh so Coach told you Ted." said Bill
"Yeah Bill it's not everyday you get to see Grey field again." said Ted
"It wasn't so spectacular I almost threw out a hip running to the bag."
"SO thats why you were limping the rest of day."
The 4 coaches laugh.
"Want me to check on it Coach?" said Trainer Pete Savard.
"No way Pete."
"Anyway back to Simpson, you guys should of seen the kid's eyes when Coach beat me to the bag."
"Bill what about his full report?"
"Sure coach, kid's got good range like his counter part, Keaton, I had them work together today, he also has quick hands able to get the ball out of his glove quick, he needs to work on liner's and his footwork on turning two. Again like O'Bryan he's timid and unsure, their like twins them two. Other than that he has a good passion for learning the game which is good for a young player."
"Very well Coach."

"The outfielder coach Valentine how was the rest of his day?" asked Grey
"Not bad, not bad at all, but you know he's a really nice guy."
"What do you mean Bill?" asked Ted.
"Well, Coach saw it, he 'hummed' a ball from deep right all the way home getting a guy out from second, he was all smiles after it, but the catcher wasn't. The poor kid got cleated in the throat on the close play at the plate. We got him stitched up and back on the field thanks to Pete, but Valentine didn't want to throw home again. Real sympathetic that kid you know?"
"Oh a softy, baseball isn't for softies." said Ted
"Weren't you complaining earlier that I was going to hard on the hitters?"
"That's different."
"Hardly, anyway Bill full report please?"
"Well he's got a cannon in right, enough speed for center, and enough heart to be a donor for 40 patients."
The other 3 coaches shook their head.

So Ted it's your turn, let's see who is better my pitchers or your hitters." said Jim
"I'll be sure to remember that maybe after the tryouts we will have a little game."
"Sure Ted, on with your reports I better write your info down." Said Jim
"Well you know this guy Allen, Buddy George."
"Mr. 102 in I recall." said Grey
"Mr. 102?" asked Grant
"Yeah the other players gave him this nickname when he hit a bloop single, with a crisp swing."
"It's getting late Ted, full report, please.'
"It's only 4:30 Coach you got a hot date tonight?" mocked Grant
"Yeah with some tea and some ice for my hip."
"Anyway George has the makings of a great lead-off hitter, a real spark plug, and a nice fluid swing and well a nice personality, and he seems to be playing for his life, but is really comfortable in the position he is in."
"No faults eh?" said Jim
"I'll let your star staff dissect him, further."
"Ted, tell the truth?" said Grey
"He's a bit slow on the recognition of breaking balls, he's a first pitch swinger mind you." said Ted

"Zulu Stingers?" asked Jim.
"Yeah this kid was obsessed with them growing up you should of seen how he hung on to every word Grey said." said Ted
"What did he do?"
"Grey, I like this guy as a number 2 hitter, great table setter, he was hitting to all fields today, I heard he was a PAC-10 all american on our home town ducks, he's old a senior. He has got solid contact, but hardly any power. I think he will listen to anything you say he idolizes you Allen."
"Looks like we got a solid one two in our line-up."

"I heard you got a couple of big hitters down there in the batting cage, huh Ted."
"Yep, you should of seen them Jim, your pitchers would have been shaking in their cleats."
"I missed the end of the HR derby what happen?" asked Grey
"Well Joesph ended up winning 9 to 8, I think it was, he got a hold of one of them and barely made the fence, I gave him the point because he actually hit the final ball, and Tobias got weak-kneed up there and backed down."
"He backed down?" asked Grey
"Yep, couldn't handle the heat."
"How did the rest of their day go, Ted."
"Eh, Jorgenson did relatively, well he looks a bit lazy, but he knows how to hit, good patience, power, and eye. Well Tobias on the other handle didn't show up past the home run derby, from what I saw though he has a bit more contact, but less power than Jorgenson."

"Alright I only have two more guys, one pitcher and a catcher."
"Oh, Otaku correct?"
"A catcher, Jim, thats my territory."
"He's a great pitcher's catcher."
"I had to leave before the pay off pitch what did he call Jim?"
"Back-door curve, the call was sub par, the pitch was worse, hitter slapped it for a double two runs scored."
"How bad was the pitch?" asked Ted.
"Instead of a back-door curve it was a hanging breaker, Otaku set up outside the pitch was right down the plate, both could have done better."
"How was he overall Jim."
"Good made the right calls, I would like to keep him, but the language barrier might be to tall to climb we could take a native catcher much easier, if he continues to make the right calls it could be hard to let him go. said Jim
"Yeah well we will see in two days for the complete shake down Jim."

"You were probably glad he didn't break your record Jim." said Ted
"Not a chance, Ted, I'm glad we have some precession control on this tryout, he might be worthy of inheriting my skills." said Jim
"I like him too, he's good the makings of an ace and a great presence as a player and leader."
"Hey Coach Mr Pilfery closing the place hurry up would ya." said one of the workers.
"Full report please, Jim/"
"Great control, needs help with pitch speed and he needs a bit more stamina to be a great starting pitcher."

The End of day One

April 19th 9:32 am
Knock. Knock.
Grey knocked on his next door neighbors, wooden door.
"Is anybody home?" he asked.
"Hello Allen, tryouts are today right?" responded Mr. Lundgren.
"Yeah, is Max home, I was thinking he might want to come with me to the tryouts and get a little warm-up before the majority of the players come in."
"Max already left, he said he had to go to a friend's house and get something before heading to the tryouts," said Mr. Lundgren
"Alright thank you Larry."
Grey walked down the Lundgren's steps and jogged the 2 and a half miles to the facility.

Allen walked in the Oregon Apples training facility, and Mr Pilfery was there to greet him.
"I invited all the players to come in early, Mr Grey."
"How many showed up?" asked Grey
"20 or so, the new players will arrive in about 10 minutes, and the yesterday tryouts are in the weight room." he said.
"Alright, thank you Mr Pilfery."
"Save your thanks for afterwards, Mr Grey I doubt you will be so happy after double sessions today." he said and smiled.
Grey nodded and left for his office.

5 minutes later and Grey along with Jim, Ted, and Bill headed out of the facility and out on to the field with their clipboards in tow.
Pete Savard was already out there with 5 or 6 other players.
"Hey Pete." called Bill before the coaches were halfway across the field.
"Hi guys, these are the new tryouts, new tryouts these are the coaches."
After coach intros we went to player introductions.
Grey noticed 3 guys out the 6, one OF named Marvin Something or other, and two pitchers Bob Randomguy and Clarence Fair.
"Hey coach, remember me." said Fair when Grey passed him.
"Oh yeah, your that kid that I gave some money to get on the bus right? From California?" said Grey
"Yep."
"It says here that your high school coach was Tim Kieveno.' said Jim from behind Grey.
"Yep taught me how to throw the heat."
"And guess who taught Timmy to throw that heat, me."
"You, know Coach K."
"Best pitcher I ever taught.'
Clarence's laid back air quickly turned to respect.
"And you Randomguy, what kind of last name is that?" asked Grey
"I am Chinese so it must be Chinese." answered Bob
"Alright guys we have an hour to do some quick drills before the rest of the players get here, so get to work, you guys are now on borrowed time, you got to make a lasting impression or you won't make this team. Make your impression now or don't its up to you."
The coaches jogged to their places.
"Hey Grey that your getting better at speeches." called Bill as he jogged to the diamond.
The whistle blew and the players got practicing.

Grey went over with Jim and watched the pitchers pitch.
"Fair, over here!" called Jim
"Yes, sir." he said
"What would you say is your strong point?" Jim asked
"My stamina and my Electric stuff, Coach."
"Electric, eh? Let's see about this." said Jim.
"A test, no problem." said Fair confidently.
"George come over here." called Jim.
Buddy George, the solid hitting CF came over.
"Hey Coach," he said
"George I want you to play a little game before you start your tryout ." explained Jim
"Sure coach, What do i do?" he asked
"I want you to go up against Fair over here. Fair if you can strike him out 5 times out of ten you will have "Electric" stuff, deal?"
Both players nodded and got ready.

"Hey coaches, I sorta got lost when I went to the bathroom." called Randomguy
"This place is big, but not that big." said Grey
"Just get over here and show us your stuff." called Jim
Randomguy picked up the ball adjusted his glasses and stared at the catcher's mitt.
"Just pitch, right now I don't care about signs just throw all your pitches." said Jim
Randomguy nodded and waited some more.
"What are you doing?" asked Jim
"I forgot my pitching motion, hold on a second please."
Jim and Grey just looked at each other and then SMACK. The catcher was knocked on his back.
"Jeez kid that was a rocket."
"Wow he's got a cannon, uh? Jim"
"Yeah but no control Coach."
"Throw again Randomguy" called Grey
Another minute or so. SMACK the ball hit the glove.
"That motion was completely different than before, but the result was the same, weird huh?" said Jim
"What's weird is this kid's mental lapse." said Grey
"Hey Randomguy, have you ever closed a game? I not saying thats gonna be your role, or that your gonna even make the team, but let's try it out." said Jim

"Willy you love running anybody anytime."
"Oh be quiet Grey or i'll be running you as well."
"Once a running coach always a running coach eh Willy? And don't forget I'm your superior now"
"Hehe, hopefully all those sprints I made you do as youngster don't come back to haunt me."
"Well Willy the players are here let's go greet them."
"A-okay Coach."
The two coaches went over to the players. Grey quickly recognized 3 players, Frank Simpson, Keaton O'Bryan, and Thomas Valentine.
"Hello young'ins I'm Willy Rabbit Johnson and I'll be your a-running coach."
"Wait this is the famous 'quick as a' rabbit?" were some rumors that rose from the crowd.
Willy was an old time MLB player with over 600 SB in his career.
"I may be as 'quick as a tortoise' now, but I know how and when to run okay."
"Willy here will be your third base coach as well as your running coach. Honestly if you don't show him respect you feet will be jello in an hour or two, so I would listen when he's talking." said Grey with a grin.
"So who wants a race?" asked Willy
All the players quickly nodded and formed a line.
"Winner gets a prize, first one to left and back 10 times wins, GO!" shouted Willy
All the players took off.
"Hehe, never learn do they."
"If they sprint they will be dead by the end of practice, but if they pace themselves you'll make them run, your a devil Willy." said Grey
"I'm as handsome as a devil too."
"Your too much"

10 sprints later

"And the winner is this young man." proclaimed Willy
"Oh T-Val" said Grey
Valentine beamed.
"Alright, sonny your prize is.. racing Allen Grey!"
"What!" both player and coach exclaimed
"Yep go at it young'ins."

"Now that your all tried, let's run some bases" exclaimed Willy
The players moaned. Willy turned around, his eyes glinted.
"Great more running." The players said non-sarcastically
Willy smiled and nodded.
"If you want to be a player on this team you will have to run out all your ground balls, pop flies, and Jilly jams. Got it?"
"Whats a jilly jam?" asked a player
Willy ignored him.
"I'm gonna toss you guys light pitches, just make contact and run out of the box, get to the bag in 4.2 seconds and you get a point, at the end of the day the points leader gets a prize." said Willy
The players just rolled their eyes.
Grey was in charge of the stop watch, and the whistle blew.

A couple minutes later only two contestants remained. Frank Simpson and some guy I'm too lazy to name.

The whistle blew and the catcher we got form The Mariners was throwing people out left and right.
"Ugh you guys couldn't steal a nickel from the floor you dolts. Let me show you how its really done."
Willy got to first stole second on the second pitch stole third on the fourth pitch and home on the 7th pitch.
"See easy."
The players were amazed
"Um... Mr. Johnson let me try again.' said a small voice
Grey was amazed Keaton O'Bryan, the shy SS stepped up.

Tryout day 2
1:36 pm

"Hey Coach ready for some fielding practice." asked Bill.
"Yeah as long as you don't make me run, like Willy did."
"No problem Coach. hey guys where gonna do some around the horn double plays now. Bring it in."
The whistle blew.
"Hey coach, sorry about backing away yesterday I won't back away in the field today." shouted Tobias Smith.
"Good, you better not." said Grey.
"Smith get at third, Wood at first, Bobby at second, and Fern you get a SS, around the horn go. Jorgenson in left, Gerald in center, and Vilena in Right for back up go."
The whistle blew and the ball was smacked along the ground to Tobias, the ball took a high bounce and flew over his glove into LF.
The ball rolled to a stop in the outfield.
"Jeez get your body behind the ball Smith and you Jorgenson don't stand there back up 3rd, effort people. I don't care what you do with a bat it doesn't matter here, if you can't field then you won't make the team, there is no DH spot." shouted Grant.

"You could of robbed that, don't stare at it."
Joesph shrugged and got into a fielding position.
Ping. The ball flew over Jorgenson's head, but instead of hitting the ground the ball winded up in his glove.
"Man that kid's got some speed." said Bill
"Hit it again."
Whistle. Ping. The ball was slicing foul right into the left field wall in foul territory.

"Whose leading?"
"There's George, Nermy, and Hallen all with 12 catches."
Ping. A high fly ball deep to left center field, Hallen dives and can't make the catch.
"Hallen your out!" called Bill.

Tryout Day 2

Grey and Jim walked over the the bullpens and the small field at the back of the complex.
"Techer is still the only stand out on the mound, besides those two new guys we got today." said Jim
"It doesn't hurt to look right?" said Grey
The two coaches got to the pitching complex and saw catcher Otaku warming up some pitchers.
"I guess he only likes to work with the pitchers." said Grey
"Yeah I can't get rid of him."
"How about a test, no pitcher will ever throw a perfect pitch every time, get him used to catching wild pitches with our current staff all our catchers need this skill." said Grey
"No problem coach."
Jim goes on with his crazy signs and Otaku nods.
Whistle. The drill begins and Otaku catches everything in reach.
"He's got great reaction time, but let's see if he can take the pressure. I want a runner on third and have him steal home, it may be an unlikely situation, but you never know right?" said Grey
Jim nodded and passed on the instructions.
The runner from third comes barreling down on Otaku as a Wild pitch is thrown

Decision Time for redsfan
A. Try to make the catch and block the plate
B. Avoid the runner
C. Just try to block the plate
D. Just go for the ball
E. Go enter a competitive eating contest.

"How's Techer?" says Grey
"Good, control is excellent as always, but I'm a little worried about his stamina, he say he wants to be a Sp, but he stats say unless he goes un-hittable he won't last more than 4 or 5 innings." said Jim
"Let's run him, have him Indian run with Willy, that will increase his stamina." said Grey
"That's gonna be painful."
"He's got the stuff, now he needs consistency."
"I'll go get him." said Jim
"I'll get Willy." said Grey.
Grey got Willy, who seemed very excited about running a pitcher.
"Hey, Coach, what am I doing today." said Techer
"You are gonna run to increase your stamina." said Grey
"ACE!"
"What!?"
"It means excellent, mate."
"Ah okay then off you go."

Willy and Techer took off jogging around the complex, every whistle blow Techer would sprint in front of Willy and then Willy would sprint in front of Techer and the process would repeat. About 20 laps later...

Decision Time For DNK
A. ACE! Let's GO!
B. I'm cactus
C. I'm gonna chunder
D. I'm only gonna do one more click
E. I'm quiting and playing footy

"Jim, have you seen Lundgren?" said Grey
"I saw him in the building coach, but not on the practice field." said Jim
"Hmm, I'll take my lunch break with the team and go look for him after." said Grey
"See you later Coach!" said Jim

10:35 am Tryout Day 2
Clarence Fair winds up and a cutter is released from his hand. The lefty's cutter cut in on the righty Buddy George. Crack. Fair nimbly dodged the top half of George's bat while looking for the ball. Fair spotted it, a small pop-up to the Catcher.
"Fair, you got 4 K's and 4 other outs, while giving up a double and single." said Jim Abbot
"Hey, I got close to electric, right?"
"Well fair sometimes close doesn't cut it a 7 to 6 defeat isn't any different from a 15 to 1 defeat." said Grey
"Well coach your talking about scores I'm talking about this drill." said Fair
"Close is good Clarence for this game, but don't get to cocky about your 'electric' stuff someday it will cost you in a real close one." said Jim
Fair nodded.

There were 2 outs and three men on. Bob Randomguy shook off all the signs and stood there for a second, another second and then a light ball moment, he stretched and kicked in an odd pitching motion that drew looks form the staff. A second later SMACK, a 2-seamer tumbled out of the zone, leaving the batter dazed with an off balanced swing. Another minute of two and a 4 seamer blazed at 100mph right down the middle of the plate, the batter hardly had time to get his bat off his shoulder. 0-2 and RG went into his motion this time as quick as lightning and a lofty circle change was thrown, the batter swung before the CC was even close to home.
STRIKE 3!
RG walked off the field adjusting his glasses and had to double back because he walked the wrong way.
"Nice combo kid." praised Jim
"I didn't even know I could throw a circle change." said RG impressed with him self.
"Oh this guy is gonna be a lot of fun." Jim whispered to Grey

Bert Hayley(Some guy I was too lazy to name) was in first with a 3.8 second run to first. The final competitor was up, Frank Simpson.
Willy lofted a pitch to Simpson a righty, Simpson try to slap the ball Ichiro style and get to first as fast as he can. SLAP. Frank hit the ball and bulleted down the line. Click. 3.779. Simpson had beat out Hayley.

EXCEPT his hit went foul.
"And the winner is Hayley you get my homemade Willy Jilly Jam congratulations."said Willy
The rest of the players half clapped.
Simpson looked disappointed at his result.
"Simpson, you got the speed out of the box, but you a righty your further away from the bag. If you were a lefty that move would of worked, but it was counter productive. That just says more about your speed out of the box." said Grey
Simpson nodded

"O'Bryan watch the signs he picked you off, don't take a running lead if your unsure about the pitchers motion."
O'Bryan looked embarrassed and cursed himself and ran back into line.

He wanted to show he was aggressive by volunteering and jumping the first pitcher, thats good considering his previous conservative approach, but he is steal beating himself up instead of trying again.

"Coach you want the ball." called Jorgenson from left.
"Sure." called Grey.
Joseph tossed the ball back.
"Smith there was no need to charge that ball it was fast enough to get to you in time, think before you act Smith!" shouted Bill.
"He can hit, but he is a little shabby on the fielding." said Grey to Bill

"Oh no Pete get over here." called Bill
Bill, grey, and Pete Savard the training ran out to center where Buddy George was clutching his right arm.
"Where is it? Where does it hurt?" asked Pete
"Ow! My shoulder." cried George
"You shouldn't try so hard." said Bill
"But coach you said effort was the most important thing." George responded
"Pete take him inside, when your clear to go you can go home your done for today, and tomorrow." said Grey
"What!? No I need this, I need to be on this team." George called
The rest of the players were now gathering around.
"I caught the play see I can still play." George said as he wrestled away from Pete.
"Don't you'll injury your self even more." said Grey and his eyes seamed in the past.
Bill nodded and Pete and a few other workers restrained George and brought him into the infirmary.

Otaku crouched down and the ball whistled past his head and the runner barreled into Otaku. The runner collapsed backwards while Otaku stood his ground. Otaku hurried after the ball but when he got the run had scored.
"Your actions where in the wrong order catch first and block after." said Grey

"Great, I'll take a rest here if you don't mind mate." he said and was out like a light.

Grey and Ted, the hitting coach, watched as a couple players took BP. Grey yawned and looked at his watch. Signed and watched the batter strike out.
"Getting tried already,Allen. We still got 3 more hours." said Ted
"Yeah, I'm beat, I've been so tried since I took this job and I have no idea why?"
"Me either, well if we pay attention it will go by fast." Ted said with a smile.
Grey cracked his knuckles and proceeded over to the batting cage.
Keaton O'Bryan the SS, was in the batter's box now.
"Another righty eh?" said Ted
"Yeah all these players so far have been righties."
"Yeah and none of them can hit, these were the guys you scouted for fielding right?" said Ted
"Yeah, I wish someone would stand out as a 5-tool player though, we need a leader at the plate and on the field."
"Well we got 4 more hitters on the cage we'll see if anyone interesting shows up." said Ted
O'Bryan went 5 for 12 at the plate.
"His been the best one today." said Ted
"Get him ready for a situation." decided Grey.
"Hey, O'Bryan, coach wants you to bat in a situation."
"...Okay." he said and looked nervous and hurried over.
"This will be a game like situation, runner on the corners, 2 outs we are down by 2. Got it? You need to keep the inning alive in any way possible."
"Yes, sir." said Keaton and he got up to bat.

Decision time for Zumikaku
A. Try to take a walk
B. Lean into a pitch
C. Wait for your pitch
D. Try to jack one over the fence
E. Suicide Bunt

Ted and Grey watched as a tiny lefty came up to bat.
"Hey a lefty finally and he's short." said Ted
"What does being short have anything to do with it?"
"Nothing Allen, I was just making an observation." said Ted
"Let's have him bunt, we need someone who can play a little small ball."
"I guess hey Simpson over here." called Ted.
"Simpson I want you to move the runner over from 2nd to 3rd, by bunting."
"Okay.."

Decision Time for Stemmy
A. Bunt towards 3rd
B. Bunt towards 1st
C. Fake bunt swing, I want and ribbie
D. Bunt towards the pitcher
E. I want to field now!

"Final hitter of the day Ted you ready?" grey asked
"Sure." said Ted
"Hey coach." said T-Val the finally hitter.
"Hey Valentine, what would so say your better at power or contact."
"I would say power, my contact is average, but my power is above average."
"Good, good." said Ted
"Let's try the 'hit them where they ain't' drill, Ted." suggested Grey
"Yep, I'll get it set up."
"What do i do coach?" asked T-Val
"Where gonna place 7 fielders out there and you must find the hole where the 8 fielder should be while the pitcher is throwing at you."
"Sounds simple enough, I'll give it a try." said T-val, as he adjusted his pink and blue wristbands and put his bat on his shoulder.

T-Va; tuned around immediately as the whistle blew, his eyes scanned over the field and then saw the pitch barreling in on him.
Decision Time for Lightningman
A. Hit it to left
B. Hit it to second
C. Bunt
D. Hit it out now fielder's out there
E. Hit it to third

Grey arrived at the running diamond just as Willy Johnson was finishing up his 10 lap sprint, with the new runners.
This time most of them were huffing and puffing.
"Now that the warm-up is done time for practice."
Everyone groaned. Grey laughed, he has been through more sprints with Willy then almost anyone.
"Hey, Coach I want you to be the ump today, go behind the plate." said Willy
"So sacrifice flies it is?" Grey guessed
"Correct, Who wants to go first?" asked Willy
"I'll go first." said Tobias Smith from the crowd.
Tobias went to third and a deep fly was sent into center and Tobias tagged up and scored.
Hmmm, He's got decent speed for a power hitter, thought Grey.
"Now try at second, and remember to perfectly time the run. Getting into third is almost as important as getting home. Don't underestimate the power of being in scoring position, pitchers and fielders will act differently depending on where you are causing holes in the defense." explained Willy.

PING. The fly was short, it wouldn't be a cakewalk to talk third.

Decision Time for robdiesel
A. Tag up and sprint to third
B. Fake the tag to draw a throw
C. Stay at 2nd
D. Get into a run down
E. Go hit some high flies

"Hey guys listen up. Double plays KILL offenses, if your on first and your teammate hits a ground ball, you can save your team. Take him out, take out the turner. It will benefit everyone, except maybe the turner." said Willy
"Yes, run hard, take him out." said Grey.
"Who wants to go first?" asked Willy
No one moved.
"You, the one with the funny name, Jorgenson." said Willy
Jorgenson sighed and went to first. He didn't take a lead, and half jogged to 2nd when a ground ball was hit.
"What do you think your doing, you want to run into the ground." yelled Willy
"Okay, okay. I'll try jeez." said Joesph.
Ping the ball was hit and Jorgenson did...

Decision Time for cooldude.
A. Jog it, a bit faster this time
B. Head first slide into second
C. Feet first slide into second
D. Jump up and try to deflect the ball
E. Go sit in the dugout

"Its important on the base paths, the game could be won or lost. Your on first and a double is hit, you stop at third, but could of scored a run, next batter strikeout and you lose. Be smart on the bath paths and you'll be a step closer to victory, literally." said Willy
A couple players nodded.
"If you can use your brain, quick and efficiently, you will be a great asset to your team." said Grey
Zeke Woods the baseball fanatic stepped up.

"Oh, while at least it isn't very serious." said Willy a little disappointed

"You sound like a kid, Coach." said Jim.
Grey just shook his head and the two of them walked over to the pitching complex, where all the pitchers were throwing already.
Bill Grant walked over to the two coaches.
"Fielding day for some of them," he said with a smile "I love watching pitchers field."
"Your crazy Grant." said Jim
"Whatever, Jim, we'll be working on pop flies, for the first part of practice." said Grant
"Okay, good. Whose up first?" asked Grey
"Bob Randomguy," said Grant
"Okay let it rip."
RG threw a fake pitch, while a pitch machine threw a pitch and a batter popped it up. Randomguy try to track it, but couldn't, his glasses got in his way and the pitch landed a couple feet behind him.

"Sure, mate. Ace idea." he said and was off.

Techer walked into the weight, which was completely empty except for one lifter and a couple spotters.
"Again." shouted a rough voice
A grunt from the lifter.
Cling.
The lifter placed the bar back in place and took a towel to wipe himself from the sweat.
Techer walked in and the spotters left. Techer looked around and he hardly knew what most of these were for.
The lifter saw Techer's surprise asked "First time in a weight room?"
"Ah yeah, mate, you look pretty comfortable." said Techer
"Hmm, you should weight lift more. I assume your a player, what position?" asked the lifter
"Starting pitcher, the name's Ryan Techer. What's yours mate?" asked Techer
"Max, Max Lundgren. I'm a pitcher too."
"Oh are you new I haven't seen you around."
"No, I have been in the weight room the whole day."
"Maybe you should take a break you look like you knocked back a couple turps, mate." suggested Techer.
"Whats a turp."
"Its Australian for drinks, alcoholic beverages."
"Oh, haha." max laughed
"Hey, why weren't you outside pitching?"
"Well you see I don't really like the coach to tell the truth."
"Oh Allen Grey, he seems a lot different from all the other coaches I had in the past." said Techer

"Speed, 100 is nothing new to me."
"Another one eh? This will be good." said Jim
Abe just shrugged his shoulders.
"I got a game for you." said Jim

Tryout Day 2
6:32 pm

There were 2 runners on, there were two outs, it was a game like situation. The Oregon apples were up to bat, losing 5 to 4. Keaton O'Bryan was up to bat. Ball 1, ball 2, Strike 1. O'Bryan swung. FOUL. 2 and 2 was the count. The pitcher threw a high breaking ball, and then CRACK. O'Bryan launched the ball into deep center. The center fielder, didn't have the speed to track it. Keaton O'Bryan stood on second, in a real game, he wouldn't be standing. He would of been running for his life from his teammates. He had hit a walk-off double.
"We got ourselves a clutch hitter." said Ted
"That's what we got, but it defiantly did more for him."
Keaton O'Bryan was beaming as he was hive-fived in the batting line by all the hitters.

"How was that coach?" asked T-Val
"It went foul, how do you think it went." said Ted
"It wasn't caught, so I win right?"
"That's not he point of the drill." said Ted
"Haha, if you remember Ted, when we did this drill as teenagers all you did was hit a dribbler down the third base line, and then you would complain that it was foul and no caught." said Grey
"Well, thats different." said Ted annoyed.
"Not really." said T-Val and Grey in unison.
"phft, fine you completed the drill."
T-Val gave himself a small "woop" and left to join the others.

"OW!" shouted the 2nd baseman.
Jorgenson's cleats dug into the 2nd baseman's leg. Jorgenson pulled his cleat out of the 2nd baseman's leg.
"Hey get Savard over here." said Willy
Pete Savrad the trainer, had a knack for being in the right place at the right time for injuries, so consider it an omen if he has been following you around for a practice or two.
Pete grabbed his first aid kit and stitched open the tiny open wound on the player's thigh.
Jorgenson just looked at the 2nd basemen and grunted "Sorry."
"At least he put effort into it." said Willy with a crooked smile

I can cut you from this team any time I please, I hold the cards, no bluff can work against a Royal Flush when its in my hand. So don't gamble your last chance. Don't ever go all in, it will never pay off," Grey gripped his elbow, "I will never cut a player for being injured, but I will cut him if his respect isn't apparent." said Grey
George looked away and said "I'll just run some sprints over here," in a bit more than a whisper.
Grey sighed and looked back at the other players, still gripping his elbow.

"An acute degrees of 46, times the velocity of 75 mph from the pitching machine causes the ball to land," PLOP, "here."
The place where he stuck out his glove, was the landing area for the ball.

Ryan Techer waited in the dark weight room for an hour and a half.
"Oh your still here." said Max
"Yep, mate what took you so long."
"Uh, coach wanted to see me."
"Oh, no problems I assume?" asked Techer
"He just wanted to see if I was here."
"Oh I see so which machine is the best for pitching speed increase?"
"Well actually, the pitching motion requires no muscular contraction once you cocked your arm."
Techer was amazed, why would coach tell me to come here if I couldn't increase my arm strength.
"However, tons of muscular contractions are required in slowing down your arm, coach must of wanted to use you a lot. So he wants to prepare your arm for the strenuous activity it is about to undergo, as you probably know pitching is not a natural motion of the arm by any means." explained Max
"Oh I see." said Techer
"I would try some regular weights to increase the muscles around the shoulder, so your arm won't get so sore."
"Ah thank you mate."
The two worked out for a while, Max showed Techer the correct exercises and Techer spotted for Max.
"Why are you doing the bench-pressy thing?" asked Techer
"While you see I don't really want to play baseball, I'm more of a lax player, I'm building muscle for that."
"Well whatever a lax player is you sure know a lot about baseball."
Max stared past Techer and looked into the distance "Yeah I don't know why though," Max said without full consciousness.

Alright here we go:
Grey yawned, stretched, and got ready. AT 8 he was out the door by 9:30 he had the field set up. And at 10 went to eat an early lunch.
"AH, Mr Grey."
"Hi, Mr Pilfery, are you ready for today's game?" asked Grey
"Yeah, very excited, and about my speech, um can I do it after the game."
"Yeah, sure Mr Pilfery."
Bob smiled and said something about making some calls.
Grey heard a clinging sound from behind him.
"Hey, coach we got the keys to the field, the field in the back" said Jim and he sat down next to Grey
"Oh the secret field." said Grey mildly impressed, "How'd you get that?"
"We just told Mr. Pilfery that we needed the field for a more game like situation and tadaa!" said Grant.
"Hey, guys." aid Ted as he sat down across from Grey.
"Hey Ted." said Grey
"Hopefully you'll have a better speech then last time." said Ted
"You'll see I nave been practicing." said Grey
And together the 4 coaches walked out on to the field and watched morning warm-ups.

It was now 1:30.
"Hey guys listen up." said Grey
All the players gathered around.
"I trust by now all of you have checked the rosters, I chose them based on your performance and suggestions. The teams are evenly match from what our coaches saw in the tryouts. The tryouts end today, some of you have impressed the coaches enough to make the team, some are just on the cusp, and some haven't shown the type of promise we would like to see in them. Saying that you all still have a chance. Working hard and well with your teammates, will earn you points, being a selfish player will not. Your teammates are your allies on the battle field. If you can't trust them, they won't trust you, and you will pay the price. Some call it entertainment, some call it business, and others call it the heart of a nation. But to us the players it will be our entire lives, and a game. PLay hard, live well and have no regrets, a chance is always a chance not matter how slim." said Grey
The players wooped and the whistle blew game time.

"Everyone gather up!" yelled Grey and he blew his whistle.
All the players gathered up, most were sweating and tired.
"Alright good job players, on Saturday you will all be brought in for a final interview, and on Sunday we will chose the roster. TEAM on three, ONE! TWO! THREE!"
"TEAM!"
All the players laughed and joked and went into the locker room to shower and gather there stuff.
"Oh guys, when your done come on back to the field." yelled Jim Abbot from across the diamond.

Ted and Jim converged on Grey.
"So the interview is the final test, right?"
"Not a test Ted, well not for making the team anyway. Even though I am close to there age I need a coach who can communicate with them well and has all the qualities needed to be a good captain. We need a player-coach." said Grey
"A player-coach, it would work if all the players can respect him." said Jim
"Yeah, these players aren't all stars, but they are better than average players, they were skipped by the higher teams, and the lesser teams don't have the effort or money to bring them in, we are blessed with such a good owner. These players aren't diamonds in the rough, most of them have reached their limit, the best we can give them is a bridge to the minors, and they must be willing to help each other and build it one day at a time." said Grey.
"I see, well I'm excited for this interview." said Jim
"Did you too ever settle your bet?" asked Grey changing the subject.
"Oh yeah thanks for the remainder Grey, so I think I win Jim, my hitters got over 15 hits and drew almost 10 walks." said Ted
"Yeah, but my pitchers only gave up four runs." said Jim calmly
"So I guess this bet is a tie, we will have a bunch of inter-squad games, don't worry." said Grey with a smirk.

The players in groups returned to the field in street clothes. There was much chatting among them, about previous games, and past HOFers.
"Alright guys, listen up, some of you knew what you needed to get done to make this roster today. Now go home tonight and contemplate these last 3 days. If you make this roster, this will be the last time I want any of you to dwell on the past, those who dwell never take a step ahead, they walk sideways looking for a way back, a way out. Don't doubt yourself or believe in yourself, believe in your game. If you can do this any future events will be much easier. I hope to see you all in an interview in 2 days from, now good luck, and good night." said Grey
The players grabbed their stuff and got up to leave.
"Hey, Mr Pelfry would you like to say your words, now?" asked Grey
"No Mr Grey I already did, in the locker room, I hope you don't mind." said Pelfrey
"Oh why would I mind?"
"Oh, I... never-mind." said Mr Pilfery and he left.
The players got up and left .

Grey got his stuff in his office and walked out side the building. Grey noticed a group of players outside,
"Hey waiting for rides?" he asked.
"Mr Pilfery ordered some buses, but there were too many of us so we had to wait coach." said a player.
"Alright I'll wait will you guys." said Grey. The players nodded, but looked uncomfortable.
In the crowd of players, Grey noticed Jonathan Abe with Otaku the catcher speaking in Japanese. Keaton O'Bryan and Frank Simpson in a corner, Zeke Wood was talking to Grey, and Ryan Techer and Thomas Valentine talking with everyone and being the loudest. The group enjoyed some good conversation for a while then the bus showed up and the players said their goodbyes and Grey took off towards his house.

While walking Grey, thought about the day. He thought off a the highlights, the hits, the K's the Stolen bases. Nearing his house he thought about talking with the players, and when he got inside his house his mind immediately stopped on what Mr Pilfery said "You don't mind do you?" Now Grey was very curious to find out what Pilfery was talking about, he tried to shake the thought form his head but it wouldn't budge he eventually feel asleep...

Sunday Morning Tryouts over
8:36 am

Grey walked into the facility and looked over his notes to make sure all the roster editing he and the other coaches did late last night was accurate. All the other coaches, trainers, workers, and Mr Pilfery were in the meeting room.

All the lockers had names on them and the players were admiring the hi-tech locker room. The coaches walked in.

Grey: Congratulations, Oregon Apples. You are all part of this team and I expect you to be considerate of yourself, teammates, and everyone else. I want us to fly under the radar this year. April 29th
12:30 pm

Grey and the coaches headed out to the practice facility. It was the day, the team was now together and will be until the dog days of August. To win the Apples needed to be one unit. The coaches as the core, the captains as the stem and the team as the juicy delicious honeycrisp flesh surrounding the team. The team filed in with bags full of their own equipment. Today would be a field trip for the apples. The players think they're heading to the batting cages out in Beaverton, Oregon to meet with some other teams of the Portland Summer Baseball League, but Grey has another thing in store for them...
---

The players were pretty excited to get out of the facility, being there 8 hours everyday for a week. Most of the players took to the back of the coach bus Mr Pilfery ordered for them, but the two captains took front seats with the coaches

Gary Heart: It's like were in High School again
Rob Gerhart: My town was so poor we had to drive ourselves to the game, it wasn't pretty when the other teams gave us the wrong address.
Grey: Everyone ready?
Team: Yes coach

The bus shuttered down the highway, passing Beaverton.

Valentine: Hey, uh coach were just left Beaverton, shouldn't we be turning around
Grant: Very observant Valentine, but Beaverton Batting Cage wasn't our destination
Ganthier* Scratching his chin*: Quite being so dramatic Bill, its not like this a soap opera or anything.
Techer: Well were are we going to now, mates?
Grey:Salem Witch Hunt Stadium...
Techer* Quietly*:Witch Hunt? what kind of crazy country is this...
Valentine: Didn't that happen in Massachusetts?
Jim: No thats the name of the dome in Salem. The two champions of their division gets to be the first teams to play in the dome.
Techer: Ace, a new stadium. Are we having the Batting Practice there?
Grey: No its still under construction.
Jorgenson*Who got extremely annoyed at the rest of the players frivolous activities and decided to join the coaches up front*: So what the hell is the point of going there?
Grey:To see what your aiming for. Without a goal, the journey is pointless.
Ted:Plus there will be some interesting guests there as well, huh Allen.
Grey shook his head, while T-Val and Techer both asked who.
Ted:Its tradition for the Zulu Stingers to go to the stadium holding the championship, to pay their respects to the field they WILL be playing on. They always do it on the 29th. But I'm pretty sure Woods could tell you more about
Woods:What.. no I don't like the Stingers anymore now that their our rivals.
Jim:Well its pretty much a one-sided rivalry right now.
Grey sighed as Buddy George came busting up through the bus.
George:What the Singers are going to be there?
Jorgenson: Yeah didn't you hear.

Buddy face twisted into anger then fear.
George:Will the how team go
Grey:Yes they always do, they take some dirt, keep it in their locker and then spread it on their gloves when they play their first game in the championship.
Jorgensen: Sounds kind of arrogant if you ask me...
Woods:Its not arrogant its...its, well they know that they're going to be in the championship. I mean they have only lost once in the past 10 years.
Techer: Wow only once, whew...
Jorgensen:I don't care about their stats, their still so arrogant.
George*Trying to be funny*:Your the arrogant one
Jorgensen:WHAT did you say boy.
George*innocently*:Nothing

George turned away and fear swept across his face, Luke GroundWalker.
---

The bus stopped right outside a large half dome that was under heavy construction.

Grant:That's gonna be ready by August.
Abe:Yeah tell me about it.

A couple players whistled at the large dome in front of them...
---

The Apples made their way through the dome and found their way on to the field. There was a small patch of game dirt. The players went up to the dirt.

Grey:This will be the dirt underneath home, 3 months from now. It will be no easy task to get there, but with the team we have now we can get there. As long as we work as a unit.
???:Still preach that teamwork can beat talent huh?
The group turned around to see a 19 year old player and a 30 year old coach. Buddy George eye's lit up as he saw the player.
???: Allen Grey...
Grey:Alex Silver...
Silver:Grey, I never thought I would have seen you again. Well since you know when you sabotaged us in the finals. I never thought I would of seen your face again. and coaching a baseball team no doubt.
Grey:I could say the same for you. You never had any passion for the game.
Silver:Well at I am not a hypocrite like you, preaching teamwork when you sabotaged the greatest team ever.
Ted:Greatest team every don't give me that bull, I even played for that team, and we were hardly the best team ever. And besides your "team" never would have gotten to the finals if it wasn't for Grey and me bailing you out every game.
Silver:Ha what a laugh, you Ted Ganthier Mr. Strikeout bailed "me" out not on your life.
Jim:Ted cool down this no time fo-
Silver:Oh and look at that Jim Abbot, boy what a surprise. first you sabotage us Grey and then you consort with he enemy, good teamwork, Allen.
Jim: I'm an enemy, just because I pitch a no-hitter to give the great Stingers a loss...
Willy:Sabotage? The only thing sabotaged was Grey's career.
Silver: Don't give me that, Willy rabbit. I was in the car with Grey, I know what happened.
Ted:I was there too, and don't talk like you know what happened, and if I remember correctly you were passed out int he back seat.
Silver:You don't remember correctly Ganthier, I know what happened, but I bet these little players don't.
Grey:They have nothing to do with what has happened...
Lundgren:Yeah so why don't you back off Mr. Silver, or I show you what a "stinger" feels like
Silver laughing: Don't make me destroy you boy
Jorgensen:What the hell is that supposed to mean you arrogant pr-
Grey:Back off you two, Silver we have just come here to view the field we will be leaving momentarily so I would appreciate it if you left us alone.
Silver: View the field? For what? You looking for the best seats to witness another championship you never got.
Grey(Fire in his eyes):No, not at all Alex, I was just scoping out the stadium WE will be playing in this August.
Silver: What a laugh. Look at your team, poor talent, poor players, injured players. You must feel pity for this guy * pointing at George* he's a no talent clown like the rest of them. I know all your players Grey we scout every single prospect and none of these bums even crack our top 500.

Lundgren and Jorgensen got ready to fight, but it was Buddy George who threw the first punch. But Groundwalker the player stepped in the way.

Luke:You can't every throw a punch, your worthless.

Luke grabbed George's sleeve and dragged him to the ground. And then kicked his shoulder. George cried out in pain. Fair, Lundgren, and Jorgensen stepped in and the rest of the Zulu players sprinted over. Coaches and players alike were brought into the tussle.

???:Hey break it up break it up.
A few minutes later both sides were restrained by officials.
???:Enough of this Grey, Silver both of you come with me. Coaches take your players back to the bus now!
Grey:I'm leaving I don't need this.
???:Be quiet both of you or I'll remove both you and your teams for existence(VERY heavy threat right there )
Silver: Sorry Mr Goden
Grey:Yeah, uh sorry commissioner
Goden: I want both of you too leave this dome and never come in contact with each other till game day do you hear me?
Grey&Silver:Yes, sir
Goden: I have already warned you both and next time will be the final straw. Especially for you Mr Grey with your previous record
Grey* Angrily*:What record?
Silver*really serious*: Being charged with the lives of Ricky Gerald and Vincent Edgar...

-------------
Allen Grey sighed and glanced at the small mirror in his spacious and barren office. He grit his teeth as he noticed a lump of grey hair that had appeared over the weekend, although barely 28 he looked closer to 50 now. Wrinkles and bags circled his eyes, he had less than a handful of hours to sleep in the past three night. Most of his sleepless time was either spent on the phone, with the commissioner or the police sergeant, or lying on his bed cursing himself for overreacting and for going to the stadium on Friday. He knew the Stingers would be there and he knew Silver was there why did he go? He was too prideful and overconfident. That was Grey's answer, but it didn't make his poor decision any better. He was a fool and disgusted with himself. He pondered why he came back to baseball there was too much hurt in it he knew something like this would happen to much pain too many hurt memories, but he loved baseball and he wanted to be surrounded in the Nation's pastime. Minutes crept by, as Grey held his head in his hands, the Apples had a shot without him they had great talent and bright future he need not bring them down by being a distraction. Grey came to a decision and he was going to quit. For the sake of the players and to protect himself from his past. Too much hurt in baseball, too much pain, mistakes won’t be forgotten, not by me at least. Too much hurt.

Grey sat up from his chair and headed towards the door to enter the hallway where he would find Mr. Pilfery. Just as Grey reached for the door a knock was heard. Saves me the trouble of tracking him down, no one else will be here till 9 Grey pulled the door opened and in stepped Zeke Woods the first baseman, looking just as worse for wear as Grey. “Oh, Woods, I wouldn’t think you’d be in the building so soon you kind of scared me” Woods just looked up into Grey’s bloodshot eyes. “Woods you feel alright why don’t you just sit down” “No” “Oh okay” Grey responded a bit confused at Woods sudden change of attitude. Woods waited for a moment or two then reluctantly sat down. “Anything on your mind Zeke?” Grey wouldn’t have usually minded this interruption especially from Zeke, whom he liked, but he didn’t want to lose his focus on what he was about to do. “Yes. There is. I quit.” “What!? What do you mean you quit.” “Coach I quit the team I don’t want to play for you anymore.” That last sentence hit Grey like a brick wall, it hurt at first but a second passed. “Quit. You can’t quit you know me I hate quitters. Zeke, did I ever quit on the Stingers you know all my stats-“ Grey stopped midsentence, I’m such a hypocrite. I can’t quit I can’t. It’ll ruin all their dreams, but Zeke said it himself he doesn’t want to play for me. Will the other players want to play for me? I don’t know I’m such a fool Zeke was quiet for a minute watching his ex-coach think something in his head, finally he spoke up. “Grey, Mr Grey it’s not that you’re a bad coach it’s just you’re not the same person I thought you were. It’s just I idolized you growing up and all the members of the Stingers from Ganither to Silver, but its well you just hurt me. I knew you were involved, but I never thought it was your fault you never seemed like the type to make a mistake like that. I’m sorry I just can’t bring myself to play for you anymore it’s just a personal vendetta I suppose.” Zeke swallowed his last few words as he tried to rush them out, obviously he planned this speech, and he took a deep composing breath and got up to leave. As he reach for the door he felt Grey’s hand grasp him. Bewilderment hung on Grey’s face as he asked “Why? What did I do that hurt you so” Zeke turned around his eyes a bit wet “You killed my best friend, my hero, you killed Ricky Gerald. You killed my uncle.” Grey was in shock he hurt this kid beyond repair, but for some reason he was angry How many times do I have to be blamed for this. It was my entire fault! Zeke slide the door opened and attempted to step outside but Grey’s firm hand held him in place. Woods glared at him and tried to shake his arm away. Using all his strength Woods released himself “Jeez let me go you fool!” Grey felt a sharp pain in his right shoulder and he grasped it. Woods turned and darted down the dark hallway, Grey ran out of the room and called after him “You’re not the only one with injuries from that day!” and he wasn’t talking about the shoulder. Grey walked back into the room and then into his private bathroom and cleaned off his blotchy and bloodshot face. “Although he is right I am a fool, but I’m no quitter at least not anymore”

May 1st 10:00 AM
Grey dragged his hands through his increasingly aging hair, sighed and stood up cracking his knuckles. Grabbing his bag he walked out of his room and down the dark hallway. No lights were on today besides the ones in the offices and the locker-room because of the heavy rain the Portland area received last weekend. Though early in the morning the storm clouds blocked out the sun. Grey trotted down the passageways and stopped by Mr. Pilfery’s office before heading into down to the locker rooms for the team meeting. The secretary said the Pilfery was on a very important business call and Grey asked if she could take a message “Don’t worry. I got this, sir. The Oregon apples will be successful this year. I give you my promise. And forward the commissioner’s impending call straight to me. Oh and I’ll give you another promise we won’t lose to the Stingers I stake my pride on it. I have a…. personal vendetta.” With the last few words a twisted smile reached Grey’s lips. The secretary rolled her eyes muttered something about cliché storytelling and Grey was on his way back through the dark hallways downstairs to the locker room. Loud and boisterous voices echoed in the below ground floor the complex. Grey, now in a complete reversed mood in which he started the day, flung open the doors and before him was 22 young men who all hushed their voices when he walked in and to his right were his four position coaches and Savard the trainer each one looked more worried than the next, Ted especially had a look of an anxious 11 girl about to play at her first piano recital. Grey thought that his face was rather humorous. “That’s odd you guys are usually chatting up a storm when I get in here change of mindset I guess hmm?” Grey joked, no one laughed. Still with a smile on his face he asked Savard “Everyone here?” “Umm… well yes Coach everyone is here even the new recruits. Everyone except for Zeke Woods.” Savard carefully check his clipboard again and nodded at Grey. “Good, that’s good excellent” Grey said nodding over the 22 players. “Is he usually like this?” asked Damian Daulton to Captain Techer “No not at all, mate.” Techer gave a worried look over to Valentine and he shrugged. “Yo coach you alright? Did you drop you’re yolk you looked all crack up” shouted Tobias Smith from the back of the group. Grey laughed “Smith you’re an egghead did you know that, egg joke get it cause you cracked and yolk and…” Joseph Jorgenson sighed disapprovingly in the back of the crowd. Ted reached over and put his hand on Grey’s neck and whispered “You okay?” Grey nodded “You don’t look it” and Grey shrugged. Jim Abbot sensing that the meeting is about to turn into something a bit unproductive turned towards Savard and then the players and then Grey “No Woods where is he did any of you receive any information on where and why he skipped today?” T-Val shrugged “He wasn’t at the Sunday night Captain’s practice yesterday, he usually always comes, I don’t know any more than that though.” Brain Murphy looked from Jim to Grey and stood up to be heard from the back “I saw him yesterday and he really didn’t look good he might be sick he looked pale. He was going back to his apartment down in Beaverton I think.” Grey ‘s smile faded “We won’t have to worry about him anymore so let’s get down to busin-“ “Wait coach what do you mean? ‘Not to worry about him’ he’s are teammate,” interrupted Jonathan Abe. Grey looked at him and started to open his mouth, Clarence Fair stood up so fast he knocked the chair he was sitting in over “What do you mean!? Who are you! Honestly coach who are you really? One minute you tell us you have faith in our abilities and the next you tell us to trust each other and care about our ‘allies on the battlefield’ Who are you really coach.” Grey turned hard, his joyous mood faded ”you fool!” “What do you mean I am who I am” Grey stuttered out. A loud clank was heard from a dark corner of the room “Yes, Allen Grey is who Allen Grey is. A has been a wash out a murder a fake a liar and in my opinion a sorry excuse for a coach” said the player from the corner, “but he’s not a bad person he’s not even a bad neighbor,” Max Lundgren got up and moved his weights out of the dark corner and sat down in the empty chair Fair just exited and then he gave Grey a small half smile “I believe you were going to say something” Lundgren said. Jeff Powers scratched his chin and muttered “Baseball’s pretty intense up here in Oregon,” Xerxes Diamantos nodded “Αυτό είναι ένα κομμάτι πάρα πολύ για μένα, όλη αυτή ηεγκατάσταση είναι συντριπτική. Απλά πίστευα αφούόλοι οι άλλοι ήταν talkign γιατί όχι.” Bill Grant facepalmed “Another foreigner?” and Otaku Kamura said some gibberish and Techer looked to Abe, “It was just gibberish” and Otaku laughed. “There’re all freaking idiots “said Jorgenson not even trying to hide his voice. “Please…sir…continue…speeching” Xerxes nodded to Grey. “I saw Zeke Woods this morning he has officially quit the team based on the fact that one of the men in the car that night was his uncle and he has a ‘personal vendetta’ against me now so yes we are looking for a new first baseman.” Shock reached every face in the room besides the pokerfaced Lundgren and Jorgenson and the ever wide smiling Otaku, loud chatter broke out from everyone of the players. “Quiet I said QUIET!” shouted Ted to get everyone’s attention Wille Rabbit looked at Grey “Ita true?” Grey nodded. The room was filled with many different exchanges. Grey closed his eyes and lifted his hand up and cleared his throat he held all the attention “I know most of you think I’m different from when you first met me knowing that I was the cause of the deaths of two of my teammates and I know that no one here knows the whole story of what happened that night not every Ted who was in the car. I was 18 I was a fool most of you are that age now, but I can tell each and every one of you has a much smart much more cooler head than I did when I was your age. I was a fool I am a fool. As Max has so graciously pointed it out I’m a ‘murder, liar and a fake”, but there is one thing I am not and that is being a quitter. I have never quit at anything in my life and I was about to today till Zeke Woods showed up and made a hypocrite out of me. I’m not a quitter and I won’t ever be so I’m keeping this job as Coach of the Oregon Apples and those who do not want that may leave without the shame of quitting on your back and those of you that wish to stay but have some problems with me get them out now because it’s a week till exhibition games I don’t want any distractions. At least not until after we destroy the Zulu Stingers in the Championship game.” A long pause and then Gary Heart stood up and clapped sarcastically “Oh fine job Mr. Grey fine job I say your speeches get worse every time have a good life. Woods was right you are a fool people like you should be locked up behind bars. I can tell you’re hiding something and you’re just a downright fool for making us trust in team and friendship when you go off killing yours for a fun night on the town. You sicken me you hypocrite!” “Anymore bullshit,” asked Ted as calm as he could but you could see the steam coming out of his ears as his eyes glared with hate on Gary Heart. Rob Gerheart got up to his eyes were full of anger but his mouth didn’t move. Cam Nerder also got up and joined the two already standing “Move it muscle head” Nerder said to Lundgren who was stretched out in front of them blocking their path. Without looking at them Max remarks “Hmmm Nerder and the heart brothers sounds like a great Romantic triangle novel. Where are you three gonna tryst up” and he smirks a little. “You sonofva-“shouted Nerder but he didn’t finish as Frank Simpson and Keaton O’Bryan tackled him together and Rob yelled at Nerder “Why the hell did you say that Lundgren will destroy us!” Everyone got up and start pushing and shoving everyone except for Max and Jorgenson. Max smiled to himself. Ted ran through the players and shoved the three leavers outside of the locker room and had Grant show them out. Jim sighed “This team will never make it too much fighting already.” “Good riddance to those deserters, never liked them anyway” said Keaton “I agree they were wastes of space” nodded Frank. T-Val looked at the coaches and Techer surprised “I didn’t know you guys thought like that.” “Yeah mates! That’s probably the most words they have ever said” Tobias laughed “I like these two much more now!” And Keaton and Frank went back to being there quiet selves. Grey quieted the players again “Any more objections?” he asked “Anymore smokescreens you gonna toss out to us Coach?” “Well…” And the only person not to speak out yet stepped up “Hey lay off of him we don’t need to know everything about him he’s our coach and he’s a pretty darn good one I think so unlike you Max and murder or not I want you to be our coach. You can teach each and every one of us a lot and help us to become better ball players. I trust you coach. I just do and I don’t know why, but I have no doubts or questions when you believe in us you can tell us. How about when we beat the Stingers you tell us what happened. Doubt worry I’m sure it will drive us to our goals. Are you ready Coach Grey cause I am. The Stingers won’t beat us and now we all have a ‘Personal Vedanta’ against them.” Buddy George reached around Grey with his left hand that was free from his shoulder injury and his bruised right fist. Grey looked at George and nodded and Ted put his arm on George’s shoulder. “No one can beat us if we work hard and work together” said T-Val as he got up from his chair and went to Grey. “It’s time for the stingers to lose again and I want my pitchers to shut them out just like I did,” Jim joined the group. “Yeah come on mates let’s end the Zulu era. This will be ACE!” and Techer jumped up and put his hand in the middle. “You younglings got to teach those treacherous leaches a lesson and I’ll help you do it!” Willie slapped his hand in. Tobias got up to “As long as we stick together we’ll beat those arrogant fools come on infield were gonna bond!” Keaton smiles and puts his hand in “Okay!” and Frank nods and puts hand in “Sure!” “I’m sorry Coach for not trusting you and I’m still glad you found me that day practicing. I’ll work extra hard to get my electric stuff,” Fair said and walked over to the group but did not put his hand in. Grant pushed open the doors muttering to himself “What is this? A group hug. I call being Bob Saget!” and he joined in. Otaku and Abe walked over together, Otaku said something but Abe just shrugged “Gibberish. And as for me my brother would never forgive me if I quit so I’m sticking with you to the end coach!”Bryan Murphy smiled and walked up to the group “I was given a second chance at baseball so I’ll give you another chance coach this is my life baseball I mean.” He shoved his hand in. Damian Daulton surprised everyone by being the next one in “I may be new here but I can tell you guys have heart and I hope to become a good part of this team and maybe it’ll give me a shot at the majors.” “Όρεγκον ε; Είναι πολύ δυτικά και ξέρετε τι λένε γιαΈλληνες θεούς και δυτικού πολιτισμού. Είμαι σε συνΜου αρέσει βροχή,” Xerxes slid into the pile “Baseball team will be good” and he smiled. The rest of the no name players joined in and Jeff Powers came in “From what I’ve seen baseball is all heart and you guys have it I’m in!” Even Savard joined in “You may not know it but baseball used to be my life and I can see my old teams in you guys let’s win a championship for all of us.” Grey looked over and saw only Max and Joseph sitting there. “Get over here Lundgren you may be a jerk but you say nice things sometimes” Grey smiled at him. “It’s that an order coach?” “You would still come if it wasn’t” “Whatever” Lundgren smiled a bit and put his hand on Techer’s shoulder. Joseph looked around and saw that everyone was looking at him he sighed and muttered something and put his hand in. “OREGON APPLES!”

May 1st 5:30 PM
Everyone was all smiles after the practice. It was the best one they ever had but they did work hard. Jorgenson launched one into the stratosphere, Lundgren pitched 9 quality simulated innings, Fair K’d 9 in a row, Keaton and Frank set up 10’s of 100’s of double plays, Tobias was a double machine, while T-Val threw out runs whether he was at C or RF, Damian displayed his dynamic drop balls, Xerxes hit everything in sight even the occasion moth or mosquito that snuck its way inside, Bryan work a solid 6 innings without any pain in his knee, Otaku stopped speaking gibberish and resorted to his trash talking capabilities, Jeff Powers talked for hours with Jim on great pitching performances and how to emulate them, Techer was as dominating as usually with his crazy breaking balls/control, Abe heated the whole place up with his fastballs, and Buddy George worked up a sweat in a hardcore session of physical training with Savard.
An hour and a half later all the players were saying their goodbyes and headed home. Mr Pilfery waited at the door for Grey. “Ahh Mr. Grey that was quite the message you left me today. Did you tell something similar to the players they were all fiery at practice today. I think it might have been the best practice I’ve ever seen and ahh Mr. Goden called quite a pleasurable man but if you could he wants you to call him back.” “Alright sir” Grey headed back towards the Apples facility and into his room and picked up the phone. He sighed and dialed. Ring. Ringgggg. Ringgggg.
“Hello, Mr Grey I have been expecting your call.”
“Oh sorry sir I didn’t mean to keep you waiting, I just had practice and I thought Mr. Pilfrey would call me if he had you on the phone.”
“We chatted for a while he’s quite a pleasurable man, but enough of this waiting I’m calling you for the punishment of your incident with the Stingers. “After reviewing the police reports, we’ve decided to suspend Buddy George of the Oregon Apples and Ted Baer of the Zulu Stingers for two games each for starting the altercation.”
“Excuse me Mr. Goden, but Baer did nothing. It was Luke Richmond that attacked.”
“That’s not what Mr. Silver said. He said that George attacked Richmond and Baer hit George. So my verdict is final. I having some more business to attend to and I’d like to go home early tonight. Good night Mr Grey and don’t ever let this happen again or I WILL wipe the Oregon Apples off the face of this planet and it would such a pity considering how much Mr. Pilfery has invested in the futures of its members” and he hung up.

Grey sighed, cursing Silver and the power he has. He then put on his coat, and left.

May 2nd 10:30 AM
Day two of the revived Oregon Apples was just as spectacular as the first. Spectacularly awful that is. He started day breaking the suspension news to George and he did not take it well. The team saw the injustice in the act as well. George remained silent, but you could tell he was mad and disappointed. “Well at least it’ll give me time to recover” he said faking a smile. A couple players as with Grey patted him on the back. The Apples would have hoped that was the worse news of the day but an hour late tragedy struck as Grey heard Jim yelling for Savard to come as quick as he could, relief pitcher Thunder Storm was in great distress. “Oh no Oh no this is bad very bad” panicked Savard, Storm cried out in pain. Grey had never seen Savard in such a state or a pitchers arm. An ambulance came right onto field through the back gate and Thunder was lifted in. An hour and a half later Savard called us from the hospital saying Thunder might never be able to throw a baseball again. “It’s a sad for all of us today it was a big hit to our bullpen” commented Jim. But that wasn’t the worst hit to the bullpen that day. Bob Randomguy did not show up for practice that day and Grant called his household only to get the landlady saying Bob left that morning with a suitcase and a lollipop[/] saying he had to do work for [i]Jaw and find the Dog that was hiding in Japan. “There all friggin idiots” said Jorgenson as they left for the day. And thus the first game with the Oak-Ridge Oaks was 6 days away.
