What's the context of what you're asking about? I mean, what is the usage of "land" in a sentence? Whereas English often re-uses the same word to mean multiple things, other languages often have multiple words to express the different ideas.

With "land" for instance, consider (off the top of my head):

1. C.C. Sabathia is poised to land a big contract (land = obtain)
2. The farmer tills his land in preparation for planting crops (land = personal property)
3. My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty (land = a country/political unit)
4. A runway is where airplanes land after a flight (land = set down on the ground)

One word in English, four meanings. Other languages (like Latin) have different words to express the different ideas. "Terra" is "land" in the sense of the earth, like #2 above.

Ok, I should have been more specific, but it's terra I want. Thanks, I needed to know how to make Grassland.
