I'm not sure how many of you are first person shooter fans, but as a hobby, I'm in contact with the team that has been developing the Quake2World engine. Quake 2 may seem ancient to some of you as it was released approximately the same time you were born, but this new iteration is extremely impressive. If you are interested, take a look:

I've been in contact with the development team for a short few months, while the game has been under development for several years. For my personal description, it's an amalgam of what made Quake 2 fun inside of a modernized engine (it's a heavily modified Quake 2 engine that incorporates dozens of engine improvements, such as native md3 support, per-pixel-lighting, shaders and in-game browser)

Minimum requirements fit pretty much machine built in the last decade:

• Windows XP, Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Recent GNU/Linux
• 1GB of RAM
• 1GHz CPU
• NVidia GeForce 8500, ATI Radeon HD 3850

Currently it is under heavy development and the team is always looking for new members, particularly mappers and texture artists. The team invites everyone interested in some old school FPS gaming in a modern engine to give Q2W a try.
