So, I'm looking at getting an Xbox 360 for Christmas, mainly because I want to play sports games that aren't dumbed down for Wii, and so I'd have a console to take to college in a couple years.

Now, if you know me, you know that I'm most definitely not a fan of games like Call of Duty, Left for Dead, GTA, Mortal Kombat, Fallout, etc. I'm gonna be asking for some stuff like Madden and Forza and even Fable, but there's one game series I'm definitely on the fence about:
Bioshock.

Looking at the upcoming third installment compared to the previous two, it looks like the third is definitely brighter in visuals and the like... and looking at the videos of the first two, the dark setting of those games and some of the action had me really doubting it as a game I would enjoy.

So, never being a fan of shooters, and not a huge fan of seeing blood in games, what has me looking at this one? A guy at Gamestop made an "out of left field" recommendation for me today when I talked to him, citing its strategy and great storyline (and the fact that it's a staple game for the console). And I admit, it does have me intrigued.

However, this leaves the question: is the Bioshock series a poor fit for me, or is it worth checking out? Should I wait until Bioshock Infinite, try out 1 or 2, or not go for any of them? (No wrong answers. )

I'm assuming somebody on here has played or seen these games; this is, after all, a video game forum. So yeah, if you can reply, please do. My mom's been bugging me about my X-Mas list for quite some time and I want it over with.

Not sure why I was expecting this to be about the Bigs.

I've played Bioshock 2 before, and I'm the same as you, not a fan of shooters, nor am I a fan of games with dark graphics.

I didn't like it much, but I've only played the second one, so I'm not sure on the first.
