Scouted out of China, Ishida is a submarining righty reliever, well suited to middle-relief or mop-up roles.

Description

My first custom reliever for my Charlotte Chargers 2008 team, Ishida is a slight improvement over last year's version, who was an injury risk and sat unused in AAA. That version topped out at 88mph and was just filler; by the end of my team's creation, there was little chance I would ever call him up.

This year's Shengjun Ishida is much more dynamic, incorporating a submarine delivery of his sliding shuuto pitch. He also has a good palmball and decent sinker. The unusual delivery and odd movement of his pitches create the possibility of using him in a variety of roles, from middle relief to mop-up or long man stints. I have incorporated him into the bullpen mix to showcase another delivery, and to have a realistic mix of ethnicities in my bullpen (last year had an abundance of white guys).

During creation I picked up a ton of blue abilities - far more than I meant to. At the end I had a ton of points andnothing to spend them on, so I gambled and got Great Infield hitter. Not sure how that will go with E contact and F speed, and a relief role!! In addition, somewhere along the line I picked up Hot Head, which is fantastic; instead of a potential injury hazard, now he just loses his cool when he is scored upon, stomping all over the mound. The 6th and 7th innings are going to be very interesting this year.
