You obtain an Original Pitch after playing a Challenge card to complete your Dad's story arc as a pitcher. This pitch is also referred to as the "named pitch" or "custom pitch" by game players. The original pitch event allows you to modify the movement/velocity of one of your breaking pitches. You are also able to change the name of the pitch to something original.

Once you have obtained the original pitch, Dad will come back in future random events and give you the opportunity to further modify your pitch using the options below. The only limit on the number of follow up visits from Dad is the amount of weeks without fixed events you have left in the game.

Original Pitch Criteria

  • You must already have acquired at least a level 1 proficiency with the pitch.
  • You cannot modify your 4SFB
  • The pitch must be the primary breaking ball in a given direction and not the secondary. For example, say you have both a CHG and a PALM, both of which are down direction pitches. When Dad asks you which pitch you want to work on, only the primary will be an option to choose from. So if you acquired the CHG first, it would be a choice to modify but the PALM would not.
  • Because it is a secondary pitch, you cannot convert a 2SFB into an original pitch.

Breaking Pitch Behavior There are three basic components to a breaking pitch.

  • Velocity (speed) - the rate of speed of the pitch. A breaking pitch is always slower than a straight fastball.
  • Vertical movement - the degree of downward movement
  • Horizontal movement - the degree of sideways movement

Pitch Modifications These charts list the behavioral effects of your choice when Dad asks how you want to modify your pitch.

Pitch Parameter Scale Description
Initial Speed -30 ~ 0 Pitch speed at the point of release, measured as a differential from the 4SFB.
Speed Retained 0 ~ 4 How much speed is retained while the pitch travels to home plate. High value gives late life.
Horizontal Movement 0 ~ 30 Amount of horizontal movement
Vertical Movement 0 ~ 30 Amount of vertical movement
Sharpness of Break 0 ~ 7 The higher this value the later and sharper the break.

  • The Vertical Slider and Circle Changeup will keep their horizontal movement after modification.
  • The Knuckleball will keep its random horizontal movement after modification.
