Came up with a story idea while I was working today, I come up with a ton of them but I'm usually too lazy to actually write any of them out. This one though, the idea of it made me laugh too much to not wind up writing it.

Criminal Scum

Code:
"Well, here's your food." Velus Hosidius said, placing a plate of ham and corn in front of his customer, Maro Rufus.

"Thanks Velus, I'm starving." Maro Rufus replied.

Maro Rufus had a long day of working in his shop, he set up displays of armor, and had to fix them several times as rude and careless shoppers knocked them over. He barely even sold anything the whole day, to go along with that, he sold a single leather shield, but the customer bargained so harshly, Maro Rufus got just a few coins for it, most of which he's spending on this meal.

After eating most of his food, he stopped to yawn, he knew he would need to get right to sleep as soon as he got home, in his carelessness, he reached for some of his corn, but his hand slipped, and brushed against the plate.

   "Uh-oh..." he muttered.

The inn fell silent for a brief moment, before the silence was broken by panicked shouting.

"GUARDS, COME QUICKLY, WE HAVE A BURGLAR ON OUR HANDS!" Velus Hosidius was yelling as loud as he could.

"No! I'm sorry, it was an accident! I wasn't stealing anything, okay? I really wasn't-" Maro Rufus started.

"STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM!" a voice interrupted him, he turned his head towards the door and saw the guard captain, Audens Avidius, approaching him, two more guards stood blocking the door, all of them were in full armor and Audens Avidius had his hand on the hilt of his sword, prepared to draw it at any sign of resistance.

"Nobody breaks the law on my watch! I'm confiscating your stolen goods. Now pay your fine or it's off to jail." Audens Avidius glared at Maro Rufus as he shouted at him.

"But, I don't have any stolen goods, I didn't take anything, it's all a misunderstanding..." Maro Rufus pleaded with the guard captain. Audens Avidius removed about an inch of his sword from the hilt, showing off the shining silver.

"Your bounty is one Septim, lawbreaker! Are you paying it or heading off to jail?" Audens Avidius maintained his glare as he questioned Maro Rufus.

Maro Rufus decided it would be best to just pay the fine, so he reached into his pocket, then he reached into his other pocket. Something was definitely wrong, his money was gone, it must have been stolen. He did recall a shady looking character lurking in the shadow earlier who had since disappeared, but there's nothing he could do about that now.

"I can't... Someone stole my money, I don't have anything left, can't you just let this one thing go?" Maro Rufus pleaded.

"It's not my job to let criminals walk free! If you can't pay the fine, you'll have to serve your prison sentence!" Audens Avidius' rage seemed to be escalating by the moment.

"Fine, I have no choice..." Maro Rufus gave up with a sigh, his shoulders slumped in his depression.

"Hope you rot, criminal scum!" Audens Avidius spat out at Maro Rufus, as he grabbed him roughly, forcing him into shackles and pushing him out of the door and into the streets of the city.

"I really hate this city..." Maro Rufus muttered to himself as the guards forced him towards the Prison District.

So touching the plate got him accused convicted of theft?

Yeah, the law can be pretty harsh sometimes.

A general idea of how it occurs in the game can be found in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hx23R_oPnjo) around 5:45, where an inkwell is nudged slightly, and the player is immediate arrested for it. I basically took that idea, and thought of how the world would actually work if everyone else could be arrested over the same petty things.

Really, the details of it are probably best interpreted by people who have played the game it references. The guard captain responsible for that arrest is involved in a quest where he himself gets arrested for his corruption, as he took money from innocent citizens by threatening to arrest them.

bumping because this is an awesome thread with some truly spectacular writing, shoutout to everyone (Caulfield/sjax/dtigers/PPFan/anyone else)

also I've felt an urge to start writing short stories, and I wrote one today, definitely not my best writing, but oh well

without further ado, I present:

got to

I’ve got to get out of here.

I stared out of the tall window. Fixing my gaze on a squirrel running circles around the trunk of an oak tree, I started thinking about how I could get out.

I’ve got to get out of here.

I got up from the bed. Stifling a yawn that would have alerted the others of my plan, I put on a white T-shirt and jeans.

I’ve got to get out of here.

I took another five steps forward. Turning the rusted brass doorknob slowly, I crept out into the hallway.

I’ve got to get out of here.

I shut the door behind me. Knocking lightly on a blue door at the end of the hallway, I rehearsed my words in my head to make sure.

We’ve got to get out of here.

We took the most important step. Treading as lightly as possible upon the old, creaky step at the bottom of the staircase, we proceeded into the main corridor.

We’ve got to get out of here.

We glanced to each side twice. Looking ahead at the sidewalk ahead of us, we crossed the busiest street in town at the quietest time of day.

We’ve got to get out of here.

We started running on the asphalt. Whispering quietly back and forth, we decided that the gas station twenty-five blocks from home would be a good place to stop.

We’ve got to get out of here.

We pooled and bagged our money. Counting the coins and bills carefully, we realized that we were making a huge mistake.

We’ve got to go back.

We looked up at the sign. Realizing we had gone the wrong direction, we sat down on the side of the road to talk about our next move.

We’ve got to go back.

We got back up and stretched. Talking still about what the next logical step was, we randomly picked a direction and started walking.

We’ve got to go back.

We advanced into more unfamiliar territory. Tracing our footsteps from the gas station to our current location, we decided that we were at least a couple of miles away from home now.

We’ve got to go back.

We turned around to go back. Hopping across each crack in the sprawling cement, we knew we had made the right decision this time.

I’ve got to go back.

I watched my brother run ahead. Tossing the bag of change into the air, I called out to remind him to look both ways before crossing the busy street again.

I’ve got to go back.

I caught the bag of money. Thinking about what could be bought with fifty-eight dollars and ninety-six cents, I shouted after my brother again in hope that he could still hear me.

I’ve got to go back.

I finished saying another sad good-bye. Glancing back to make sure he was gone, I turned and ran away from everything I had ever known.

I’ve got to go back.

I prayed into my cupped hands. Letting the words go, I found myself suddenly pulled to return home.

I’ve got to get out of here.

My retrospective on being a Phillies fan so far, and why I lost interest in baseball for the most part. To be continued with gaming and the Show in the next part..

Narrative exercise for English III (I'm in English IV, mind you):

"Name." He shuddered, shook his head in defiance. "Name, son." His shaking was vigorous, but he remained silent this time. "Give me a goddamn reason, son. So help me God, if you don't tell the name, I will end this misery right now." The grizzled old man had felt his short fuse being lit. He'd been down this path before, but survival always found him. Where he came from, that was just second nature. For all he knew, in that secluded place, it was a dog-eat-dog world out there. The old man considered clasping at the other's neck and squeezing the livelihood out of him, but he thought better of it. All he managed was a chuckle and a scoff. "Jesus. You're unbearable."

I wonder what these are about

For the first time
In a While
He felt
And he could swear a glance
And damn, that was enough
He barely knew --
But message sent
And secrecy
And he smiled after
And when he looked out
into the blue
into the Mind
It felt right
For once
It felt Good
It's almost like
damn, I think She knowS
...and he couldn't wait to find out
S.S

did you know why
why he chose you
nice, unassuming
And difference
and I Wonder
will it reciprocate
why go that far
and not even address
and he's probably not
ideal
but he's pensive
and all that day
some days
he thought
and that was
written
S.S

yep, I'm a loser
I think a lot
and these are more poems than stories
preferably played with I Wonder (Kanye) or the equivalent
writing is coping maybe?
whatevs

hmm, how was my friday?
-------------------------------------
As I rode through the winter
I found a flower and thought
Here I shall spend the day
But why does the blush of dawn
appear
When the dark of night is still around us?
That Friday
Like any normal
But that pressure
Bearing extraordinarily
It felt, at its apex
That Friday
He was more frustrated
Twisted further in the mind
By his own coaxing
Just when it appeared
A step enforced
Mentally
When he debated it again
Those waves
Pushed it out to sea
Where it was lost
And only temporary
But a torturous disappearance
Indelible nonetheless
Appearing again in his travels
Time to the next time
Later, in his dreams
What he wanted to neglect
Restored anyway
A vicious cycle!
Sometimes
happenstance
That caused a thousand-yard stare
Bewildered
At inactivity
That made him quiver
Seething so
That it almost didn't register
Sometimes
Kept him still
Careless, remiss
Nothing else matters
Made a selfish grin
A false hope
One that certainly
Did not surface
Did not lead
Anywhere
And the blame
Lay solely on him
Great Expectations
That simply cannot
Not be lived up to
By one with a weaker sense
A mind that is constantly reasoning
Constantly theorizing
Can't even manage a word
Of course, all phrases
Held back by consequence
The Smartest mind
Could even be stifled
If confronted
By Cowardice
That note, that green note
A desperate attempt
A sideshow, ignorance
Twisted tongue, caligraphy
That could shame
And man, those are just slit eyes
Not even real ones! A facade
You can pretend you're whatever
You know the truth though
That can protect you
An imaginary goal
Some semblance
Of happiness?
And why even put it there
In the first place
Remember
Above all
Remember when
She was right there
Adjacent
And since you feel so strongly
why not
something
anything
No, no that was a showcase
A pity to be seen
Analyzed
And how cruel is that
And what's he doing here
writing?
Is that supposed to be
some kind of mechanism?
Is that coping?
does that change a destiny
does that even do anything
or is it just a form
of expression
because you honed in
on what deeply
Deeply
feels like
is destined
And you
in all your bravery
Hid it
Like you, miserable you
Always do
Because even though
You dwelled
More than twice
Then all day
Even though it overpowered you
Took control
That idea
More than anything else could have
An indeed commanding presence
Not an iota of you
Could properly show
You honestly, truthfully
Have the Power
to make it a reality
That's unfortunate
Maybe one day, you'll have the courage
All this spare time
Never to be seen again
But let's wait it out anyway
Maybe

for S.S
