Pregame Notes: Christian Tanaka, the Beef starter, did not look like he had his best stuff today when I saw him warm up in the bullpen. We need to take advantage of that and hope Nelson throws a good game today.

Postgame Notes - Nelson pitched better than the linescore would say. I feel he mixed up his pitches very well, but unfortunately, his splitter wasn't at its best, and he hung one too many pitches.

I'm shocked by the lack of plate discipline the team showed against Tanaka. They didn't work the count, but I will commend Tanaka on getting the batters to swing at the pitches he wanted. He got a ton of grounders with that approach. I'll be stressing this over and over in the postgame meeting.

I let Johnny pitch the 9th because the fans needed some entertainment. He didn't hit 160 km/h today, though, but was still effective.

I wish I could have gotten Erick and Gruber in, they'll definitely play tomorrow though.

(Warning: Lame attempt at another Erick joke. It may or may not be good.)

Erick has finally replied to my e-mail. It went a little something like this:



...this dude is weird, but I'm his agent, and I must do it. Sigh. I'll send him another e-mail saying that I'm his agent for the baseball team, and hope he doesn't lag behind with a response. He seems to do that a lot.

As for Taylor, he is still psyched for his upcoming start.

...I guess I can take that. Keep improving James!!!!

Postgame Notes - The team hit great, and Blanco did everything that was expected of him. Great way to end our first series.

I really wanted to give Gruber a chance to pinch hit. Otherwise, I would have let Blanco go at least one more inning. He was outstanding minus 1 hanging curveball he threw to Imanami.

The team really got my "work the count" message. We knocked out Matsui after 4 2/3 innings and 70 pitches.

Ethan Mason hit a 439-foot blast today. I was surprised, he's not a guy you'd think has that much power. I ain't complaining, though.

I did what I said I would, I got Erick and Gruber in the game, and I even brought in Morgan for good measure. All 3 impressed me, but they won't be starters unless something bad happens (hopefully Gruber isn't the cause of it either).

We're going to travel to Yokohama to face the BayStars tomorrow. I'm not too worried, they've been known as a very bad team.

That a boy James!!!!

Erick finally got back to me, and he understands what I am to him now, but still told me to send the e-mails. Sigh again. Also, he told me he's happy about his RBI today.

Hans Gruber is pleased that he actually got into the game and got a hit. He notes that he is batting a thousand and is currently better than everyone. He also says and I quote, "Whoever decides not to lock their car before going into the locker room deserves whatever they get."

I'm not too sure what that is supposed to mean.

Postgame Notes - Alex Weiss just did everything today. He drove in the Aliens' first 3 runs with a bomb to left field in the top of the 6th. It put us ahead 3-1. Before that, he made a superb diving catch on a bunt that was popped up. He hurt himself on the play, but he still managed to throw out the runner who was stealing on the play. He even stayed in the game.

Burton pitched a decent 6 innings, only giving up 1 run and earning himself a quality start.

The bullpen did a magnificent job. I think it might be our biggest strength, despite the fact that we have no lefty relievers.

Though we won, the BayStars exposed a weakness of our team: holding baserunners. I think the BayStars stole mainly off our pitchers, but I'm going to give Morgan the start tomorrow to see what happens.

I am very happy about Collins' play as of late.

"B. Harper" makes me wonder whether it's Bryce or Bryan (his brother).
