OK, so I know most people don't like the Yankees, I decided to go with them anyway (they are, afterall, my team). I'm doing a dream draft, trying to draft the best team I possible can and win as many WS as I can. I only have one success player, had to rebuild him after my Wii died, a starting pitcher. I don't plan on playing all the games, maybe one of two or three, and should be able to post game logs about once or twice a week.
Without further a-do; here is the start:

New commish orders re-draft; Yanks have mixed reaction
Las Vegas – While the new commissioner of baseball didn’t make many decisions this year, the one decision he did make, shook the baseball world. Two days ago, at the winter meetings in Las Vegas, the commissioner ordered a redraft of the entire league. Citing competitive balance as one of his main reasons, this move has been met with mixed reactions from clubs around the league, and Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman sounded off on the matter yesterday in a conference call with the New York media.
“This is certainly an unexpected move and one that stunned everyone. We are very upset to have to give up what we feel like is a championship caliber team, but that isn’t something we can dwell on. What’s done is done and we just have to concentrate on building our new team.” The Yankees have hired former GM and head of scouting Gene “Stick” Michael and former scout Dick Grouch, the scout who discovered Derek Jeter, to assist in evaluating current major league players and forming a draft strategy.
While Cashman was calm and spoke to the media for a few moments, owner George Steinbrenner was none too happy. “We have worked very hard to put a great team together and now this guy comes in and takes it away from us? No! I’m not happy!” When another reporter asked sarcastically “So, I guess you didn’t approve this then?” Steinbrenner replied, “Of course not, don’t be stupid.”
Players were as equally surprised by the move. “I honestly have no idea what is going to happen,” said Derek Jeter from a benefit in New York, “I hope the Yankees find a way to bring me back.”
The draft happens in two weeks, the Yankees have a lot of work to do.

MLB completes re-draft; Yanks take former Ray Carl Crawford with #1 pick
New York – The madness that was the Major League Baseball redraft finally concluded yesterday evening. “We had a great draft, we were able to get most of the players we targeted and we expect to have a dominant team moving forward.” Said Yankees GM Brian Cashman late last night from Madison Square Garden as the Yankees made their last pick.
Indeed the Yankees did have a fantastic draft, nabbing former Ray’s left fielder Carl Crawford and former Mariners ace Felix Hernandez with their first two picks. The Yankees also managed to get some productive players late as well nabbing Price Fielder as their DH and a rising star in left hander Scott Olsen.
Crawford was asked about coming to New York: “I’m excited! I loved coming to New York as a member of the Rays, that atmosphere is always great.”’
“My dad played here in the late ninety’s and had a good time. I hope I can win a championship here like he did.” Added Prince Fielder.
While the newly drafted players are excited to be here, players such as Mariano are sad to be leaving. “It’s tough. I’m going to miss playing here.”
Training camp opens in 6 weeks; this should be an interesting season in The Bronx.

New York - The Yankees today announced thier starting lineups and pitching rotation for the 2007 season. The one big suprise is the announcement that free agent rooke left handed pitcher Jimmy Carbone will open the season as the teams #1 starter. "He is going to be a major factor for us this year and we think he is going to win alot of games."
Only 22 years of age, the youngster seems to be taking it all in stride. "I just want to pitch my best everytime out. I'm obviously thrilled to be named the opening day starter, but I understand I'm still a rookie and still have a lot of work to do."

New York Yankees Vs. Tampa Bay 4/2/20007
Yankees grab opening day win in all-around game
Bronx, NY - The game could have gotten out of hand early for the Yanks as Tampa led the game off with a double. But rookie pitcher Jimmy Carbone proved why he belonged in the number one spot in the rotation by completely closing the door and not allowing the runner to score.
This opened the door for the Yanks in the second. Ninth place hitter BJ Upton singled to center driving in the game’s first run. Upton and Paulino both moved up on a wild pitch by Livan Hernandez and both score two pitches later as Carl Crawford lined a 2 RBI single to left center.
The Rays would get two back in the top of the fifth as Jose Molina and Craig Council had back to back RBI doubles, pulling the game to 3-2 with just one out. Again when it looked like the game could get away from him, Carbone shut the door by retiring the next two batters. “Right there shows how mature he is for such a young pitcher. That situation could have really imploded for a lot of youngsters but Jimmy battled and did a great job getting out of the inning.” Said manager Joe Torre after the game.
The Rays never got close again to scoring as Carbone cruised through the rest of the game allowing just a couple of hits on his way to a 6 hitter.
While the Rays didn’t score again the Yankees tacked on two more runs in the 6th as Nick Markakis hit a two run HR to widen the lead. “That home run came at a great time,” said third baseman David Wright, “it helped widen our lead a bit and gave Jimmy a chance to relax a bit on the mound to finish off a great game.”
The Yankees also played some great defense, making two highlight plays in the 7th. Jason Bartlett made a fabulous diving catch ranging to his left , robing Cody Ross of a sure single. Bartlett was also the key to ending the inning as well, starting a great 6-4-3 double play.

New York Yankees Vs. Baltimore Orioles 4/6/07
New York- Anibal Sanchez completely dominated the Baltimore Orioles this evening pitching 8 shut out innings, striking out 8 and allowing just 4 hits. "He had all his pitches working tonight," said catcher Ronnie Paulino "and did a great job mixing them all in and keeping the hitters off balance."
Oliver Perez, the hard luck loser, pitched a strong game for the O's allowing only a Prince Fielder HR in 2nd and a sacrifice fly in the 5th. "What are you going to do, he pitched a great game."
Chris Ray came in for the ninth and earned his first save of the year.

I have a good power lineup or else he would be hitting higher. He's raking right now so, you never know :)

Minneapolis – The Yankees beat the Twins today in a game which nether starting pitcher lasted past the 5th inning. The Yankees jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first, getting back to back RBI singles from Adrian Gonzalez and David Wright and an RBI single by Jason Bay. The Twins answered back with 5 in the bottom of the frame starting with a 2 run home run off the bat of Mike Cameron. The Twins got three more runs on back-to-back-to-back RBI singles from Brad Wilkerson, Paul Blanco and Dan Uggla.
The Yankees would tie the game in the top of the second when Adrian Gonzalez finally got his first home run of the year, a two run blast over the baggie in right. David Wright was robbed of a HR in the 5th on a great leaping catch by Mike Cameron.
“Great catch, he really went up go get that one.” said Twins manager Ron Gardenhire.
David Wright would get his revenge in the 8th, getting what would be the game winning hit in the top of the 8th, and Adrian Gonzalez would add three more in the ninth with a 3RBI double.
“It felt great getting the HR and being able to drive in some runs,” said Gonzalez who had just 1 RBI prior to this game and no homeruns.
The win ended a two game slide.

OK...So... My Wii is on the fritz...again    !!!! As of now, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It looks like the laser is on its way out and needs to be replaced. I'm hoping to order on this week and have it repaired soon. Until such time, I'll update the logs as my Wii permits while I wait for the new laser to come in. This log isn't going away, I promise, and I'll continue to update as i can.
