In order to 'unify' the format in which we post players, I've constructed a wiki "Infobox" for custom players. By entering your player's stats into the template, you'll get a standardized sidebar with all of the information in an orderly box. Currently, the box contains player basics (name, team, number) as well as basic stats. I am in the process of adding diagrams and ability lists. To use the infobox, use the template {{Infobox player}} at the top of the page, filling out the entries as needed. Example Player Template page |

Looks very good, nice update. I was testing it out and it seems to work well; is there a bank for the info we can input such as team number? Also, I tried putting in that the batter is a switch hitter but it defaulted to Right, is there no option for being a switch hitter? |

Small oversight on my part I guess on switch hitting... Team number is on the team template page... If I recall the teams are in order of being added to their respective leagues. I eventually wish to make the teams designated by their logos... for now they just hold the name. ah yes here's the template. If you're ever confused, at the bottom of the edit page, it has a list of ALL the templates in use by the page, which adds up to quite a few. I've tried to do some decent documentation on each of the templates, so they should be almost self-explanatory (else, view the source). wiki/index.php?title=Template:Teamicon |

So do you think we should do away with the large pictures and just post the passwords(in picture form) along with all the normal template info? I noticed that my pictures, normally 1100-1280x640 really don't fit together well with this new format; what would you suggest for future posts? |

Eventually, yes. For those without cameras, it would be to eliminate the need for images all together, but that's hard on the brain and hands to type out the password. I'll set up a spot in the template later so one can "link" to images off-site (which is probably better on everyone). I'm planning on revamping the table layout, reducing the wikitable to <div> tags which are ... cleaner to use (at least with multiple templates). For now, I still urge the use of thumbnail images, it makes loading pages easier (esp when my line is tied up with other garbage). Images on wikipages should be thumbnailed and linked. The best way would be to upload the thumb, and host the full-sized image. Then this site will always have the thumb, and should the site bonk out again, we won't have any lost data. |

thanks for these, MaxD - great stuff! I've been starting to implement this on my players...for batters, switch-hitters is the only thing I am concerned about. What about pitchers? Can you put in Stamina/Control/pitch types? Or are those picture-only? I've been using the infobox in conjunction with images (smaller, compressed images), to show the stats, password, and abilities all in one area. I've also been trying to take screenshots of the players on that final creation screen, so you can see them facing you...but I keep forgetting. |

I've been working on image sets for the pitcher's diagram... but they've been a bit difficult to make clean and with minimal images/code. Switch Hitters aren't included yet...I have to figure out a way to show both sides... I assume they have different hot spots. |

Indeed they do, they have the same hot spots from both sides of the plate. |
