Hi All,

First post...

I'm looking for tips on trading away my older high $$$ players in favor of younger $380/90 guys.
I'm in April of my 2nd season, using a somewhat trimmed Boston lineup (fyi:I'm not a Boston fan in
real-life). To cut costs, I didn't renew contracts on my most expensive pitchers (like Schilling etc)
and Lowell. I would have preferred to trade most of these guys, but all of my trades have been
declined. Before the deadline, as well as in the post/spring seasons, I've tried many combos of
veteran players and prospects etc, but still no go... I've got guys like Julio Lugo and Eric Hinske,
who I'd like to trade now, for guys like Jeff Francoeur and Zach Duke, who will eventually replace
guys like JD Drew etc... I do not have the luxury of using the other two profiles for reloads, because
my kids have their own seasons too... any proven strategies for successful trades would be great.

Thank you!

One thing I like to do when offering trades is save before hand, and then offer it. Then you just skip ahead a few days to see if it is going to get accepted. If it is rejected, just go back before the save and send a different offer. You don't need multiple profiles to save and reload, btw.

Also, you can S/L with the same trdae anyway. As long as there is at least one star, it will get accepted eventually.

always watch the stars below the salary figures at the top. You generally do not want to offer one-star trades since they are very, very rarely accepted.
Also, in the offseason, sometimes teams will not accept any trades no matter how lopsided it is in their favor (glitch?). You might have to just wait until opening day or later before you can offer two+ star trades again.

Thanks for the tips!

I kept at it and finally got a couple of trades to go through... Even a couple of one-star trades! For example, I was able to trade Eric Hinske away to the Braves for *BOTH* Jeff Francoeur and Brian McCann and didn't even have to offer any points! I was also able to trade away Julio Lugo for Zach Duke!

The strange thing about this though, interestingly enough, there was a two-star trade (giving FLA Coco Crisp for Carl Crawford and Jorge Cantu) that would go through only when simming/skipping ahead (and losing games)?! My goal obviously, was to go back and manually win the games, get all the points and have a successful trade. However, after playing through the games, the trade was subsequently declined! What a downer! I skipped ahead again with the same offer and it was accepted. So, I resubmitted the offer with a bunch of extra points (assuming that there is some kind of calculation by the CPU going on), manually played the games and again the trade was declined! Since I really wanted to get rid of Coco, I took the simmed losses and got the trade... and :D at the same time...

Bobby,

From what you've said in your prior post, it sounds like you've offered/skipped for approval, then gone back and played the games and then have had your trades accepted, correct? How often would you say that has worked for you? All, Most, some of the time? I'm really trying to recover from my first season point deficit, so every won game and it's respective points really matters...

Thanks

As long as there is 1 star it will work eventually. Personally I do not do that trick that much I dont like it. But it will work. Maybe 20 times, maybe 50, maybe 100 I do not know. But it will work eventually if there is at least 1 star.
