If you sell 2 Legends books during the game, that's $1100. If you go the normal work route, you'll have to work 7-8 times to make $1100. I think it would be tough to take this approach and not work at all, but if nothing else that's a very significant amount of working you wouldn't have to do. It definitely makes holding off on working until you can land the higher paying tutoring job easier.

My usual method works and produces decent characters.

1. Study first three weeks
2. Rest Nov.
3. Study next two turns
4. Work job twice when it opens
5. Rest
7. Work one more time
6. Practice, Practice, Practice

This is modified somewhat by random events, but usually follows something similar.

This will get you enough money off the bat to buy Mind Training & Recovery necks, plus some left over money to use as needed for whatever. After that it is just a need thing. Since I don't go for max players I toss in a work and date every so often. I use those abilities from the date lines and equipment to make up for any experience I miss in the lost practice time. It works well and produces good players that don't cost a fortune to use in Season mode.

1. Study
2. Study (use yes/marvin card)
3. Practice
4. Practice (use yes card to get gambling ring)
5. Practice (vit recovered from event, use a practice that leaves you with some vit)
6. Practice (use no/marvin card)
7. Practice (use powerin)(get an event that gives $30+, may require a certain card)
8. Practice (use powerin)
9. Sleep.
10. Work (use challenge card) (use no/marvin card on shop keeper)
11. Practice (Buy Mind Training Neck / Recovery Neck, 1 "safety" powerin, reload for an event that can give you money or ability )

I currently am trying this build for my last pitcher, the idea is to only spend 1 turn the entire game on job, i imagine if you were a hardcore enough saver/loader, you could practice with 0 stam  .

Which events are you using those cards in... I'm confused. :?:

Also, what's the earliest possible time to get the ring? Is it the lottery event?

Earliest I've seen the gambling ring is November year 1 (room cleaning random event, play Yes card and get surprise bag).

I didn't realize you could get an RE in Nov of Yr1; I thought the earliest was Dec. I usually try to get the Shady Accessories RE on Wk 2, Feb, Yr1 (that's the earliest I've seen that RE). That event seems to have a little easier path to get a ring. You're not really losing out on anything by waiting a few turns because you're usually spending the first weeks studying.

2. Study (use yes/marvin card) for the meet becky event.
6. Practice (use no/marvin card) for the dad throws glove away event
10. Work (use challenge card at job to get $130) (use no/marvin card on shop keeper)

Need to save/load to make sure you draw these cards properly, if you're going for the dad event.

I think they meant the week following November, right before December.

A way i've been using to get around this, is to get a shop sometime when your going to buy the glove, save on a day where it appears in the shop, sleep/study/whatever all the way to your next game, lose/win and see if you gained any experience on the glove. Then you can load and decide if you want to buy the glove or not.

The drawback to this is that you're freezing the items in the shop and if you figure out the glove doesn't have any abilities you have continue playing until the shop comes back around for another chance at it. If you're "unlucky" enough, you might go through success mode witout ever finding any equipment with abilities.

With at least level 3 Bkworm, I think the ??? Potential box will show up. I've tried Rsoohoo's strategy before, and, while it can work, is unbelievably annoying and time-consuming. You wouldn't save after getting the equipment, going straight into the game after practicing/resting.

Yeah, if you manage to get a shop very close to a game, you can just buy the glove you want, hope it has the ability while winning the game, and if it doesn't load and repeat. And yes, the more time you're willing to spend saving loading (and planning a sound strategy) the more likely your character will be maxed.

The reloads/saves that get really annoying are the ones where you're trying to do a practice with little stam (30-40% chance of failure), and at the same turn need a random event, and even then, need a certain chance card.

You can "not" freeze the items in the shop by saving when you notice the shop exists for that turn, but before opening the shop interface. It's doable.

Yeah, I was going from memory - basically the first shot you get at a non-fixed event.
