Dee Gordon, Nelson Cruz, and Giancarlo Stanton currently lead the MLB in the triple-crown categories. Which number do you think is most impressive?

I'd go with Gordon's .437 average. Nelson Cruz's 14 homers are close, but to have an average nearly 40 points over .400 at this point is phenomenal.

Luck plays a big factor in all three categories, but I think Cruz's 14 homers are most impressive, because it's not out of the realm of possibility that he does finish the season with 80 home runs, whereas the chances of Gordon sustaining that inflated .437 average are incredibly low. Sure, if he beats out a bunch of infield hits and gets bloopers to fall and everything, it's possible, but he got out to a hot start last year too, and ended up falling down to a .289 average. If it were someone like Jose Altuve who has actually sustained a high average before and shown that kind of ability, I might go with that, but I just think there's no chance Gordon ends up with an average anywhere near .437. As for Stanton, RBIs are such an odd stat: a lot of it is based on whether the guys in front of you are getting on, and what with Gordon's .437 AVG...certainly those numbers will both start to fall in tandem (sure, Stanton will still get his 100 RBIs or whatever, but he's not going to end up with 170 unless everyone on that team turns into Ted Williams all of a sudden).

I can see what you're saying, no way Cruz hits 80 bombs though, I see 50 at most. I guess his connection with steroids tainted his reputation a bit with me.

Still, Gordon should be in the .330-.350 range I would think by season's end.

That's, uhh, bold.

Gordon has a much better shot of reaching 262 hits than Cruz does of hitting 73 homers. (IMO)

I think the most impressive current stat (even if it isn't on here) is Bryce Harper in the last week. 13/23, 7 HR, 16 RBI. Dude is on one of the hottest streaks I've ever seen.
