MLB NEWS - March 21, 2014
In A Stunning Move, Tomlinson becomes Tigers GM for 2014; Dombrowski to Fill Scouting Director Role

DETROIT, MI (NAP) - Robert Tomlinson, an 18-year old fan of the Detroit Tigers, has shockingly been hired to take over the General Manager's post of the Detroit Tigers. Team officials say that this move was made due to the potential candidacy of former GM Dave Dombrowski for the MLB's Commissioner role after the 2014 season.

In his initial press conference, Tomlinson said, "I'm the new kid on the block. I know that I've got a lot to prove to you. When you take over a ballclub, you don't have an offseason. There are signings, trades, meetings, arbitration, drafting the right young players. It's a year-round job. There's a lot of positives here. We're going to try to build on those and field the best team we can.

"People have been talking about this season and next as the last in our 'window' to win a Championship," Tomlinson added, "Hopefully, under my leadership, the window can be kept propped open for a few more years. There's some talent in our minor league system, and we'll see what we can do in the future."

Also announced during the press conference was the fact that, while his commish candidacy is up in the air, that Dombrowski will take over for Scott Pleis as the team's Scouting Director, citing Dombrowski's higher ratings in terms of scouting players at all levels.

Storms Rage On in Australia; Opening Series Rescheduled

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA (NAP) - Due to constant thunderstorms in the Sydney area, MLB has announced that they will reschedule the two games of the Opening Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks to May 19th and August 25th, respectively, in the Diamondbacks' stadium in Arizona.

Said Bud Selig of the move, "It's very disappointing that we couldn't open up the MLB season in time in Australia. You can't predict the weather more than a few months out, and we didn't see the storms coming when we finalized the game schedules. We'll try to schedule them as exhibition games at a later date, but for now, those games will be moved back to the US at the two dates mentioned."

So, this is a bit of a start for my OOTP log for the Detroit Tigers. Don't know how much more I'll fit in today, but hopefully you guys will like this log. I'll get some more team info in my next story post.

I'm impressed by your ability to somewhat justify DD being replaced.

How can Tomlinson be the GM of the Tigers while playing for the Lookouts?

No, I had it on normal. I just turned it to Low.

Then again, I'm used to Austin Jackson potentially being out a month or more with an injury, so I know how to plan for that. :)
