Beep...beep....beep

"Honey, wake up, you're getting a call," my lovely wife, Katrina, told me.

"What, who could be calling me at this hour?

Hello..." I said in a groggy voice.

"Hello sir, this is William Nathan, correct?"

"Ye..yes... Who is this? And why are you calling me at 3 in the morning?"

"This is Andrew McCarthy, I'm a Harvard graduate, majoring in sports medicine."

"What does that have to do with me? You wanna be a doctor, for our team?"

"N-n"

"We already have one, goodbye..."

"Sir, sir. Please, just give me a few minutes of your time. I have a solution for you."

"Fine, 5 minutes."

I walked out of my bedroom and into the living room quietly, as Henry and Vanessa were still sleeping.

"So, Mr. Nathan, I have recently come up with a formula to heal any busted ligaments or tendons."

"So... This... Has something to do with my knee?"

"Yes. I believe that I can repair your busted leg slash knee wi..."

"B-but, I'm already a General Manager in Japan, so why should I need my knee healed?"

"You looked like quite a solid pitcher in your Little League career, and know that your breaking balls are still sharp."

"So, you're saying I can play for my own team someday?"

"Hold the phone Mr. Nathan, this operation or medicine might not be successful."

"I'll meet you in Tokyo in a week when we play the Swallows, okay. I'll call you later, thanks for the offer."

"Okay, glad you're considering it."

Could my knee really be healed? I've been walking with a cane ever since I graduated from college, and I'm only 30.

So, um... I guess I'm supposed to meet that McCarthy guy now.

I called over a taxi and headed to Tetro's coffee shop in Tokyo where I was supposed to meet Mr. McCarthy at 10 P.M. which is apparently 2200 in Japan.

21:57

"Hello, sir, you're William Nathan, correct?"

I saw a man walk in the door to the shop, I was the only person in there, and thought it had to be McCarthy.

"Yes sir, are you Andrew McCarthy?"

"Yes, nice to meet you."

"So... What is this special healing operation you can do for me?"

"Well, I have found out a way to fully repair 'unfixable' tendons and ligaments in the human body and make them 2 times stronger than they were before they were torn. I have created this surgery and have tested it on numerous Cuban baseball players."

"So, how come you haven't fixed up and MLB'ers yet?"

"Well, they're not sure that it should be legal. Because of all of the PED uses lately, Ryan Braun and Alex Rodriguez, the MLB is preventing certain surgeries, also called Performance-Enhancing Surgeries. There was a man from Japan, by the name of Tommy Jobe that came over to America giving out these surgeries to perfectly healthy players to make them a lot stronger than before. Many players were busted before they could get to the MLB, while in the minors thanks to these 50-60 homerun seasons. It's also rumored that the Dragons shortstop Raicho Tsuruga had Tommy Jobe, also known as Dr. Goodjob's operation in college while at Mantsuman University."

"Okay, so, you're asking me if I want a surgery that could put me back in baseball?"

"Yes sir, you've got a decision to make Mr. Nathan, I'll talk to you later."

He walked out of the shop like that, without even getting coffee.

Should I do this?

Call me crazy, but I spent the past hour and a half reading through the log from the beginning to the point you are at now. I really am enjoying the log, but I must admit, I'm a little bit bothered by the lack of interaction since the middle of the first season that the GM has had with the players. Now sometimes I understand, the angle does not need a "push" per say since some players are considered minor characters...say for instance RP Gates. After his struggles early on in the first season, he called out to the GM for guidance, which surely helped him play better the rest of the season. (Really...it actually happened lol) But then there are some characters who you almost make out to be vital to the story, and yet they seem ignored. I mean, at first you were talking about how the GM's childhood best friend Lockhart was brought onto the team (as opposed to a superior catcher) for "storyline reasons", and I don't think the GM has spoken to him directly even once since giving him a contract.

I'll just stop it right now before I start to rant. Overall great job with the log, I really do love it. Avoiding the opportunity to create an overpowered team to keep things interesting was a great idea. I would just suggest having some kind of "Important, Big" update every month with interactions between the GM and players who are putting the team on their backs or holding the team back. (Maybe even a team rally speech after months with losing records?)

Okay, thanks for the ideas. I'll keep these in thought.

"Hello, all players. I've called this meeting together today because I don't feel that I've interacted well with everybody lately. So, how are you guys feeling about the team?"

DeMarcus raised his head and said,

"I feel that you're doing a pretty solid job with the team, Mr. Nathan. Last year, we just missed the playoffs, and right now we're sitting atop the Pacific League. I think you're doing a great job, and I'm really happy with my performance as well."

"Ok thank you Mr. Gunderson, anyone else want to share their feelings?"

Sari Harnish raised his hand and talked.

"I like how the team is doing, but I'm not confident in my performances."

"Ok, good to know."

I said that a bit nervously as I had been talking to my assistant GM about offers for Harnish.

"Anyone else?"

Rin spoke,

"The team is doing well, but I don't like my role with the Bears and would like to be traded."

"Okay, well, we'll talk later."
