If your backups practice their power, the could challenge your starter.

My only real suggestion is that you change the forkballs. In PP 2008, "forkball" seems to be the most common pitch for that direction - at least for new players. The least common seems to be the fosh and circle change, so I'd change the forkballs to foshes and circle changes.

My only suggestion is to boost the Third Baseman's power rating to a C and Trajectory to a 3. Also, I think you'll find my guide to work quite well.

There are no foshballs in the Japanese version, and I don't know if there are circle changes. The only pitches that break downward in JPPY are forkballs, splitters, and vertical sliders.

Don't forget palmballs! And the circle change is a downward left or downward right pitch depending on the hand of the guy...I don't know why they changed it. And yeah the forkball is like Japan's changeup, it's rare to see a ton of Japanese players actually throw a changeup.

Agreed - palmballs are awesome. Some of my arrange team will throw them, but you will draft players now and again that throw them.

I might have a bias against forkballs. I can get ground outs with it, but have a really tough time getting strikeouts, even with a level 4 forkball, although right before I lost my Wii, I was having some success throwing forkballs up in the zone.

The Knuckle curve and slurve are other pitches I just can't seem to use effectively. Never used a pitcher regularly who threw a fosh or a circle change.

Only the cooliest pitch in the game.

If you ever play as the marines(2012 game) try out Seth Greisinger, he has a circle change up. I think the key to using it is setting the guy up effectively, when I played 2011 success mode I had a level 5 circle change and constantly struck guys out.
