Our first game was just a day away, and I have just learned that the Giants have brought back one of the best pitchers to ever pitch in Japan back. After 10, successful years in America, Sanada has returned. He was known as “The Pitching Catcher” since he could, quite simply, pitch and catch. Pitching was obviously his main focus, but he was still one hell of a catcher. He had unmatchable speed, a great arm, and could hit one out if he wanted.

Hirokazu Sanada – Yomiuri Giants
AGE, YEARS PRO, NUMBER, B/T, TOP SPD, CON, STAM, PITCHES
35, 7, 19, R/R, 160 km/h (99 mph), B, A, shuuto – 3, Drop curve – 3, Circle change – 4
POSITION, 2ND POSITION, TRJ, CON, PWR, RUN, ARM, FLD, E RES
P, C, 3, C, B, S (100!), A, C, C

Oh, if only we could afford him… No matter, we’ve got a pretty solid rotation.

Also, the Eagles have finally signed their first round draft pick, Ota to a one-year deal. Ota’s some closer. He has amazing control, and can throw 170 km/h (105 mph)! And he has two incredible breaking balls. Plus, he can throw a gyroball, which makes him even tougher to hit.

Keiji Ota – Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles
AGE, YEARS PRO, NUMBER, B/T, TOP SPD, CON, STAM, PITCHES
18, 0, 11, R/R, 170 km/h (105 mph), A (99!), E, Slow curve – 7, Changeup – 7

I don’t want to face him any time soon.

Anyways, I made the final preparations for the team for tomorrow. It should be interesting!

Holy crap, did you make these two studs?

Also, is there indeed a Dream Draft for Season Mode, or have you not looked yet?

Heh, no. I wish I could make players that good. I found them on this site http://upotapass.blog68.fc2.com/ under the pitcher option.

No, sadly, there isn't. Though you can change the teams however you wish before the season starts. That's what I did to get those two in.

Knights Show Off the Offense

Image – Hiyama and Kurihara

Seibu Dome, Tokorozawa, Saitama – The long ball was shown off yesterday, as the Knights scored 6 runs, all of which came from homeruns. 2 from Kurihara, 1 from Matsunaga, and 1 from Nomoto, of all people. Nomoto commented after the game, “I’m not one to hit very many homeruns, so, hitting one feels awesome. Wakui threw a pitch right down the middle, and I couldn’t let it get past me. It seems I got all of it.”

In other news, Hiyama threw the 4th consecutive complete game for the Knights. A very strong start out of the gates. “My 2-seamer was really fooling guys today, I got all 4 of my strikeouts with that pitch.” He said. He shared co-MVP honors with Kurihara in yesterday’s game.

Dee Brown of the Lions recorded his first hit of the season, which was a 2-run homerun in the 9th.

Also, the Samurais have finalized a trade with the Yakult Swallows, sending Shou Toyoda over there in return for Osamu Hamanaka, a outfielder who can play some third as well.

I've done some practice runs with them, and they end up not getting the best record, so I'm not too concerned.

I hope that they don't end up like the Sluggers... which is too good. But yeah, nice start to the season!

Yeah, me neither... But they're not even in first! The Hawks are 8 or 9 and 1, I can't wait to play them.

Knights Win Again, Another Complete Game

Image – Matsunaga and Atori

Chiba Marine Stadium, Chiba City, Chiba, Kanto – Another complete game? Holy cow. Only two members of the bullpen have gotten any work so far this season! Koyama has pitched 2/3 of an inning, and Fujii has pitched 1/3. Manager Kensou Mori spoke about this, “They’re all kids! As a former pitcher myself, I like to see them go as long as they can. BUT, if their pitch count gets out of hand, I will pull them in a heartbeat. I don’t want anyone to suffer a career ending injury this early in their career.”

This game was won from the very beginning. On the first pitch of the game, Matsunaga pulled a homerun to right, his second of the season. And right after him, Shimozono (whose having a fantastic start to the year) hit a double and stole 3rd. Nothing else would come of that from that inning. In the bottom of the 3rd, Marines catcher, Satozaki tried to extend his wall-ball hit to left into a double, but Shigeno gunned him down, thus ruining The Marines momentum, and it was all down hill from there (except for Satozaki’s homerun in the 5th). In the 6th, Nomoto made yet another fantastic play, diving to his left, and throwing out Okada from his knees. And in the 8th, Kurihara flashed some leather, making a jumping catch, and doubling up Imae at first.

Shima will take the mound today, we’ll see if he’s able to throw another shutout.

Goro Shigeno Leads the Way to Victory!

Image – Goro Shigeno

Sapporo Dome, Toyohira-ku, Sapporo – Yesterday’s game looked bleak at the start. Takaguchi let up 3 runs in the first inning alone; the Knights wouldn’t get anything until the 4th, where they got 2 runs, one coming off an RBI double for Kanazawa, and one by an error by the right fielder, Yang. The score would stay the same, at 3-2 until the 6th. It started off with a Shimozono single, and then Kanazawa hit a rocket right at Tanaka, the second baseman. It bounced off of his glove. Shimozono, who was off on the pitch (since it was a hit-and-run) got to third on the play. Kurihara then hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 3. Next batter up, Shigeno, who hits a bomb on the first pitch. Pulling it to left, and it leaving the yard. A 2 run homerun to give the Knights their first lead of the night! But it wasn’t over there, after Kura flew out, Tanaka got his first hit of the year, a double to right! And then after him, Nomoto hit a double of his own to drive him in, thus making the score 6-3. They would score once more in the 7th. In the bottom half of the 7th, the Fighters threatened, with Ohno on second, and Kaneko up at bat. He hit one right down the line, and right past the outstretched glove of Kurihara. Ohno scored, making the score 7-4.

Takaguchi was pulled, and Fujii was put in, he got Tanaka out, and ended the inning. Then comes the 9th inning. 7-4 was the score. Makida came in. His first appearance of the season, and of his career. He let up a leadoff single. But got Hoffpauir to ground into a 5-4-3 double play. Next pitch, Nakata hit it to left; Shigeno gave chase and jumped to catch it. But he jumped too late, right into the wall, and was taken out of the game, though only for precautionary reasons, he is expected to play today. Makida got Ohno to ground out to end the game, and earn his first career save! Takaguchi also got his first career win yesterday!

Which game are you using for this, and does it have English letters (for Success names, etc.)?

He's using the Japanese Power Pros games, and it sometimes has english letters, but the only ones I've seen are for the abilities and the main menu.

I'm using Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 2011, for the PS3. It is 99% in Japanese, with the exception of the rare word in Romaji.

Shima’s Streak Ends At Two

Image – Shimozono and Shima

Fukuoka Yahoo! Japan Dome, Fukuoka – So close. Sooooooo very close. Young left-hander Hiroshi Shima is having one of the best starts to a season, ever. Two straight shutouts, and a chance for a third one came yesterday. He got to the 9th without letting up any runs. He got 2 quick outs, but Tamura then hit a double, and Ortiz hit a single to put runners on 1st and 3rd. Matsuda would walk up to the plate.

First pitch, he swings and pulls one right down the line, and right past the diving Nakahigashi, to drive in Tamura. Thus ending Shima’s consecutive scoreless inning streak at 26 2/3 innings. A shame really, since on the next pitch, he got Hosokawa to line out to Nomoto at second. His ERA is still a fantastic 0.33, though, so no complaining. After the game, he said "It was a good run, and now, it's over. And that's it."

But on the positive side, the struggling Egawa did very well in yesterday’s game, going 3-5 with 2 doubles, a triple, and 2 RBI from the leadoff spot. Also, Nakahigashi got his first hit of the year in the 5th, with a single to right. And Kaga got his first hit of his career in the 9th, with a single to left-center! Congratulations to him!
