"Allen, your lawyer's going to be here soon." The guard said while he was unlocking my cell.
"Oh, uh, thanks." Again, he didn't move. And again, I had to squeeze by him.

I walked over to the Detention Center and took a seat. I wonder who this Shinri guy's going to be...

Naruhodou and I had taken the bus, as neither of us have a car or any other means of transportation, to the Detention Center.
I've been told nothing about this case other than the fact that my client's name is "Jackie" and that he's the suspect for a murder.
This should prove to be interesting.

I walked in the door of the Detention Center, flashed my badge, my Attorney's Badge, that is, and was directed to where my client was being held.

...What is this...?

"Jack?"

The door opened, and in walked my lawyer. A man of about 5'7", long hair, glasses and a very nice pinstriped blue suit.
When he got closer to me, the suit started to look pretty familiar.

...Wait a minute...

"Kevin?"

I knew it! Didn't I just predict that!? I knew it was Kevin, whyd he change his name?

Well, let's see, shall we?

We both stared at each other for a solid minute. I hadn't even noticed that Kevin was with someone.
"Shinri," said the man behind him. His hair was ridiculous. "why did this man call you 'Kevin'?"
Kevin turned around, "what? Oh, right. Kevin's the name I go by in America."
They were speaking Japanese. Great.
"Kevin, huh? What an odd choice. Any reason why?" the man behind him asked
"Kevin Costner, plain and simple." Kevin replied
"...who?"
I interjected, "Uh, Kevin, who's this behind you?"
"Oh, right. Naruhodou, meet my good friend Jack Allen."
"Nice to meet you, Jackie."
Seems Dan's damn nickname has gone worldwide.

(Goin' Stranglers style) (Also, note that Kevin and Shinri are the same person)

Jack: Uh, nice to meet you... Neroohodoo...

Naruhodou: Naruhodou. I've been Shin- I mean, Kevin's mentor for a little less than a month, now.

Kevin: You have the honor of being my first case, Jack.

Jack: Oh, joy.

Naruhodou: Haha, I'll leave you two to chat. I've got other things to tend to.

Naruhodou left

Jack: So, Kevin, surprised to see me?

Kevin: Uh, yeah. I don't think that surprised would even cover it. What the hell'd you do man?

Jack: I didn't do anything! I was hungry, so I went to a convenience store close to where I'm staying and someone ran out of an alley and threw me a gun.

Kevin: Hold on, back up. Why are you even here?

Jack: Oh, right. To study teams in other countries. I chose the Tigers.

Kevin: I see, I see. Regardless, you say that you were thrown a gun?

Jack: Yeah man! It was weird!

Kevin: Isn't that a little convenient? I mean, what judge would believe that?

Jack: ...None would. And that's the problem. Maybe there'll be a new prosecutor too...?

Kevin stood up and went outside of the room

Kevin: Naruhodou!

Naruhodou: Oh, Kevri! What's up?

Kevin: Who's going to be prosecuting the case tomorrow?

Naruhodou: Oh, right. Uh. Well, he's a rookie too. So that's good. His first case as well.

Kevin: Alright!

Naruhodou: But, he's a prodigy. Highly touted as someone who can swing a judge's opinion in less than twenty minutes.

Kevin: Oh...

Kevin walked back into the Detention Center

Kevin: Yeah, we're not sure who's prosecuting yet.

Jack: Bummer. Let's hope for a bad one.

Kevin: Yeah, let's...

(Ending Stranglers style)

Kevin and I spoke about my take on what happened for about 15 minutes. He proceeded to leave after I was done, tipping his glasses on his way out.
Let's hope that Kevin knows what he's doing.

When are the games gonna start back up?

Well it is March 1st so I would assume maybe in the next update or so with spring training

Soon, hopefully. Jack's backstory is almost complete, so we'll be getting back to the main program soon.

BEEPBEEPBEEP

"Gahh" I said as my head flew up from my desk with a force so great I thought that I may have given myself whiplash
"Wai- wha...?"
I looked around to see that I had fallen asleep at my desk, again.
There was a knock on the door
"Uh... C-come in." I managed to say out of my saliva encrusted mouth.

As the door was opening I used my sleeve to wipe my mouth.
"Yo, Jackie." they said

I could barely make out their face with my still adjusting eyes. I could see that they did have a pair of Ray Ban glasses, and along with that a collared shirt under a light blue cardigan. It was complemented by their choice of a red tie, and khaki pants.

"Jackie...?"

It then hit me that this could be one of two people. The one and only Dan Daniels, or my once defense attorney, Kevin "Shinri" Matsumoto. I prayed for it to be the latter.

"It's been a while, huh? 7 years? Hey, Jackie, you alright?"

He must've seen the lifeless expression on my face and the horrendously messy hair.

"What... oh, yeah. I'm fine. Yeah. No, yeah, I'm good. Right. Ahem."
"Riiight... Anyways, wanna go grab some breakfast, catch up some?"
"Yeah, sure. Right." My eyes had finally adjusted, and I saw that it was Kevin, who looked the exact same as he did back in 2009. Except now it seems his suit fetish has died down a bit.

We ended up going to Takagi Coffee, a small, traditional coffee house in Kyoto.
I ended up having some of the best coffee I've ever had. And Kevin got himself a tea, as per usual.

"So, Jackie, how you been? Seems that you're doing pretty well up in the front office." Kevin said after putting his tea back down onto the table.
"Pretty good, yeah. Jeez, I never got to thank you for getting me out of that mess."
"HAHA," Kevin laughed quite loudly, all the while crossing his legs. "no need to thank me, Jackie. Just doing my job. Well, I was doing my job."
"What do you mean 'was'?"
"I gave it up in a couple years ago. Erina was really my only challenge and he's moved up to federal cases."
"Well, why didn't you pursue that too?"
"The feds are bastards, simple as that."
"But... B-"
"Nono, don't worry about it. I've simply moved on to using my mind for other things. Such as chess. I'm really good at chess."
"How... Nice..."

We chatted about our pasts, along with why Kevin gave up his dreams of being a lawyer. And also about my strange dream about all that happened to me.
One thing he said, though, really resonated with me.

"Jackie, I lived my dream. I really did. I was able to protect people who I truly thought innocent. I saved lives. I saved poor saps who had nowhere else to turn. My goal was always to protect the ones who can't protect themselves. And I did that, Jackie. Have you found your happiness yet?"

Have I?

Gosh, I think I have. I'm the GM of a brand new team which has won 2 Pennants in their 3 year existence. I've met many new friends.

But I never stepped foot on a Major League field. I never fulfilled my childhood wishes. Does that mean I'm unhappy?

The answer to that I do not know.

But I would like to think that yes, I have found my happiness. Doing something I didn't think would bring me anything but sorrow, I've found my happiness.
