Update! :)

The Tigers signed Major Leaguer Ivan Adamsky yesterday, we hope that he can be of great help to this team, and hope to see him play soon.

I've noticed that whenever I talk to my players before the game, we lose. So I decided to not do that today, and just hoped for the best. And also, inter-league play!

Tigers lose it to the Marines

Image - Kim Tae-Kyun

Koshien Stadium, Nishinomiya, Hyōgo - The Tigers lost to the Marines on a rainy day yesterday, 7-2. Iwata had a tough, giving up 4 runs in 5 innings. Whereas Karakawa, of the Marines, only gave up 1 run in 6. Leading the Marines to victory was Karakawa, and Tae-Kyun. The Tigers took an early lead, thanks to a homerun by Arai. But the Marines got that run right back, from a single by Ogino. they never looked back from there. Adding 3 runs in the 6th, and 1 run in the 7th, 8th, and 9th. The Tigers second run came thanks to a homerun by Kanemoto in the 9th. Though that proved to be nothing of importance. Luckily the Dragons lost as well, so the Tigers still maintain their 2.5 game lead over the Dragons.

I agree, the Tigers have always had a poor pitching rotation. Fix it, PPFan! :)

Andoh loses it, once again
Image - Yuya Andoh
Image - Myself (left), and Hiroyuki Nakajima (right)

Tokorozawa, Saitama - The Seibu Lions are the victors in this game. And they were leading the whole way through. A first inning, 3-run homerun, by Hiroyuki Nakajima, gave them the lead after 1. They never looked back from there. Andoh, once again, loses the game. He lasted only 2/3 of an inning, pitiful, letting up 4 runs. We spoke to him about his year-long slump, he said "I don't have my stuff, I'm struggling this year, and well, it's bad. Real bad." Also in today's game came a homerun by Adamsky. Not just any homerun, his first NPB homerun. Congratulations, Ivan Adamsky! May there be many more to come! We agree Andoh, this is getting out of hand. Oh well, at least we're maintaining our 3.5 game lead over the Dragons.

I met with the shortstop of the Lions, Hiroyuki Nakajima. He told us about how he feels about the Lions as a team. He stated "We have some work to do, since we are in 4th. But overall, I think that we have the potential to make it this year. If not, then next year. I do have faith that with everyone's contributions, we'll make for a fine team in the future."

I spoke to Takeda today, to get him ready for his start, he said to me earlier that he was a tad bit nervous, as his entire family would be at today's game. I said to him that it all would be fine, and he should just continue to pitch how he has been previously, and we'll have this game in the bag.

4. Shuichi Murata - 3B (0-5)
5. Terrmel Sledge - LF (3-5, HR [16], 1 RBI, double)
6. José Castillo - 2B (1-5, HR [6], 1 RBI)
7. Yuki Yoshimura - RF (2-4, 2 HR [11, 12], 3 RBI, IBB, walk-off homerun)
8. Tasuku Hashimoto - C (1-4, double)

MVP:
Yuki Yoshimura - Walk-off homerun in 11th

Nishinomiya Sports

Tigers lose, Yoshimura walks off

Image - Yuki Yoshimura

Yokohama Stadium, Yokohama - The Tigers lose, and Yuki Yoshimura walks off. His walk off homer came off of Fujikawa in the 11th inning, giving Fujikawa his first loss of the season. Both starting pitchers did well yesterday, Takeda going 8 strong, and Ohka going 7. Although the Tigers lost, manager Akinobu Mayumi said that he "has faith that the Tigers will come out of their slump, and [he] think[s] that all will be well." They're still in first, albeit only by 3 games now to the Dragons.

Fujikawa sope in his press conference that he was "very disappointed in the way he was throwing in the 1th, and [he] [is] the only one to blame." This was Fujikawa's first loss this season.

Well, hopefully the Tigers can pull it together soon. And get some better pitching. Today's off-day should help, a good days rest.

Tigers squeak by Dragons

Image - Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi

Koshien Stadium, Nishinomiya, Hyōgo - Happy July! Yesterday the Tigers skimmed by the Dragons, in a 2-1 win. The only RBI's coming from Tani, a homerun by Kanemoto, and for the Dragons, a homerun for Blanco. It was an interesting game all the way through, Shimoyanagi pitched a gem, along with Chen. Chen going 7 innings and letting up only 2 runs, and Shimoyanagi going 8 innings, and letting up only 1 run. And Fujikawa came in in the 9th, and shut down the 2, 3, and 4 hitters, earning his 19th save of the season.

The Tigers add another game to their lead over the Dragons, making it now 5 games separating the two.

"Giants today people! We're gonna have a tough time with this game, but Takeda is pitching today, and hopefully we'll win. Let's go guys!" I tried to pep up the team today, hopefully by me talking to them, it won't jinx us again.

Yomiuri Giants - 7
Hanshin Tigers - 4

Giants:

Lineup:
1. Hayato Sakamoto - SS (2-5)
2. Ryota Wakiya - 2B (1-4, sac bunt, reached on error)

4. Alex Ramírez - LF (2-4, HR [14], 1 RBI, double)
5. Yoshinobu Takahashi - 1B (2-4, double)
6. Hisayoshi Tyono - CF (2-4, HR [5], 2 RBI)
7. Yoshitomo Tani - RF (2-4, 1 RBI)
8. Kazunari Tsuruoka - C (2-4)
9. PITCHER (0-1, strikeout)
- Lee Seung-Yeop - PH (0-1, strikeout)
- Takayuki Terauchi - PH (0-1, strikeout)
- Shigeyuki Furuki - PH (0-1)

Pitcher(s):
Syugo Fujii (2 2/3 innings, 3 runs, 3 earned)
Norihito Kaneto (1 1/3 innings, 1 run, 1 earned)
Kyohei Tsutimoto - W (4-2) (2 innings, 0 runs)

Jason Standridge (2 1/3 innings, 0 runs)

MVP:
Michihiro Ogasawara - Homerun in the 2nd to give his team the lead

Nishinomiya Sports
July 4
Giants win, Ogasawara homers

Image - Michihiro Ogasawara

Tokyo Dome, Bunkyo, Tokyo - Honestly, with loses like this, I don't understand how the Tigers are still in first place, and by 3.5 games! Ogasawara hit a homerun in the second inning to give the Giants an early advantage. And even with Takeda, our strongest pitcher, they still lost, and 7-4. hopefully we can turn this around. We talked to the new GM, Jack Allen, about this. He said "I don't know, the team - we're struggling, big time. Our pitching isn't doing great right now, the offence, lacking. I guess we just have to hope that we can keep first place."

Jack, we here at Nishinomiya Sports agree, along with all of the fans. This year, we're going to reverse the Curse of the Colonel!
