I think that he needs power hitter, I also think that contact hitter could work too. Definitely VS lefty 4, he's hitting .323 against lefties in his career. I think he would need spray hitter, no pull hitter. I also think he needs timely whiff. That's all I got, anyone else can add to this

Speed of 10 I'd say - 18 steals!! Maybe 11, look at his doubles totals.

I would put fielding up to D or maybe C, looks like Goldy is above average
E res the same, average or slightly above to D/C range
Not sure about arm at all

Arm is above average like a 9-10
Patient hitter would be an appropriate ability

I'd be willing to take him on.........
Combing all of the input gives us this:
Paul Goldschmidt
Trajectory 3
Contact 10-11
Power 160-170
Speed 9-10
Arm Strength 9-10
Fielding 9-10
Error Res 10-11

Abilities:
Power Hitter
Contact Hitter
VS lefty 4
Timely Whiff

Only problem is that I don't know how to get Timely Whiff
Any thoughts so I could modify this?

Having both power hitter and contact hitter on the same player defeats the purpose of having them because you get boosts on both contact and power swings, so I would say try to just get one or boosting his power and contact ratings.

You can get Timely whiff by striking out 9-10 times over the course of success mode I think

aar0nat0r, hmmmm that's a difficult decision for me. He hit .300 or higher in the past two seasons, but last season he got hurt (my first round fantasy draft pick :(). He had 36 homers in 2013 but his home run rate dropped in 2014. So I'll ask what you guys would want. I'm more towards the side of contact hitter.

And LetsGoMets, you were very close haha :) This is what I found on the wiki " Strike out with power swing on 9 times over the course of Success Mode." Except the ability is listed as "Free Swinger" but that's what the ability is called in MLB PP 2007.

I would just go with 11 contact and 180 power without either ability, but that's just me

I'm also going to give him Gold Glover because he won the Gold Glove award in 2013 and his defensive numbers in 2014 were similar to 2013. And the batting style I am going to pick for him is Scott Hairston's. It has the end of the bat being the closest to the ground at a downward angle.

Apologies for double posting but, I found that Alloutwar has designated a strikeout percentage of 27% or higher should require timely whiff. Goldschimdt's in 2014 was 23% and in 2013 it was 20.1%. So I will be removing that trait from the list.

This is the most updated version:
Trajectory 3
Contact 10-11
Power 170-185 (based off of AB/HR and ISO from 2013 and 2014)
Speed 9-10
Arm Strength 9-10
Fielding 9-10
Error Res 10-12

Abilities:
Power Hitter
Spray Hitter (http://www.fangraphs.com/spraycharts.aspx?playerid=9218&position=1B&type=battedball&pid2=9218&ss1=2014&se1=2014&ss2=2013&se2=2014&cht1=hangtime&cht2=hittype&vs1=ALL&vs2=ALL)
VS lefty 4
Clutch 4 (BA W/RISP is .302 and with runners on .321)
Hot Hitter
Gold Glover

I may get other blue abilities along the way, most likely Firstball Hitter. I saw what Rob wrote about Patient Hitter, but I don't think I'd be able to get the skill set up to requirements while doing Patty's arc.

EDIT: I changed Contact Hitter to Power Hitter
I'd like to get a few more opinions on the abilities though

Contact Hitter or Power Hitter?

I think the king was close to finishing Goldschmidt way back when, but he was never posted I guess.

If you do get blue abilities like contact hitter and power hitter, the best thing to do is to scale back CON or POW to compensate. His average and power are helped a lot by blue abilities, so that's why I always leave those abilities a tad lower than I am aiming until the very end, so I can boost them only if necessary.

If you get contact hitter than tAke 1 off what I was saying for con, and 15 or so points of Power off if you go with power hitter. The blues are crazy in terms of how beneficial they are during play.
