Posting:

* Individual players should be in their own thread, with the full name of the player and position(s) in the title. Don't add superlatives or any other shout outs to it... we will see your guys...
* If you post a team or a set of players, add players by editing your starting post so they're all in the same post. A bump to announce the edit is appropriate.
* Posting images are fine, provided they are small in dimension and data. 800x600 and ~50Kb should be the biggest you can post inline (using the [IMG] tag), anything larger, post a link or a clickable thumbnail instead.
* If you have wiki rights, add your player(s) and team(s) there as well!

Halfway through creating Bernie. In 2008, Bernie would just have been a year out, 29 years old, and - since he played in the WBC in 2009 - still potentially able to play the game. In late 2008 he joined the Puerto Rican baseball league, and did well enough to join the WBC roster. I am thinking that in 2008, he could've still played ball a bit.

FanGraphs: http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?pl ... osition=OF

Now I hate hate HATE the Yankees - but Bernie was a classy Yankee. Like just a few - Mariano, Jorge - he's a Yankee I can look up to. So, he deserves to be made, if only a quick run-through.

By 2008 Bernie's skills would have atrophied. His last season, 2006, he hit .281 with 12 homers and 61 RBI. His days of 30 homers were gone, but he still made contact. These are the stats I am thinking of:

Contact: high D/low C. Lifetime .297 hitter, still hit high .280s in '06.
Power: low C. 12 homers was his lowest total for any whole season, and he racked up plenty of doubles (29 in '06).
Speed: D. Very low steals, but he was a good baserunner.
Arm: E - poor arm, generall few assists.
Fielding: E. This is where FanGraphs rips him, thinking he's a net negative value.
Error Res: C. Very few errors out there - just poor range.

Switch-hitter
CF, with LF and maybe RF as secondary positions

Please add your thoughts, let me know if any of this should change. I didn't watch Bernie too often. Also, contact may lower if I get tons of blue abilities, like I typically do.
