October 9, 2008 I was extremely nervous driving into the stadium today. I hate those damn Yankees. As Billy Beane said in 2002, the Yankees are the sabermetric killers. They buy the best team every year. Teams like us always face them in the ALDS. I couldn't focus on that too much. We had to just go out and play ball like always, but I had an extremely bad feeling about this one. New York Yankees 2-1 @ Chicago White Sox 1-2 A-Rod silenced the crowd early on with an RBI double. Jason Giambi followed him with a 2-run homer. In the fourth, Jorge Posada delivered a death blow via a 2-run homer. The Sox finally scored on a homer from Konerko. A-Rod struck again in the 5th, driving in a run on an RBI single. Jim Thome put Chicago back in it with a 3-run shot to right. But Bobby Abreu hit a homer of his own, giving the dreaded Yanks a 7-4 lead. However, the Sox don't give up easily. Nick Swisher hit a 2-run single, putting runners at the corners for Konerko. Konerko choked by grounding into a 4-6-3 double play. New York destroyed our hope with 2 9th inning runs. Chicago hardly put up any effort to comeback, and were eliminated with 9-6 defeat. December 8, 2008 Today starts the free agency period. There aren't many great players on the market, but Kyle Farnsworth, a reliever, sticks out. His top speed is 100 MPH. He helped New York win the division, and can fix our weak bullpen. I offered him a 4 year deal worth 6250 points. Latroy Hawkins, another Yankee, was also available. He is known for his breaking balls, and can dominate in relief. I offered him a 2 year deal worth 6950 points. December 15, 2008 Kyle Farnsworth is the newest White Sox. Unfortunately, Hawkins rejected our offer. We offered him a 2 year deal worth 7500 points this time around. Latroy couldn't reject the offer, and joined old teammate Kyle Farnsworth. This was our way of getting back at the Yanks, taking their two best setup men. |

January 2, 2009 Today opens the International FA period. This time, we didn't have many needs to fill. We only targeted Chang Jing Song from China. He wasn't in search of much, and we signed him for a year. Our bullpen was now dominant. We were now predicted to finish 98-64, first in our division. We were excited for the new campaign. |

You sure didn't want Sanchez or Sandoval? Who are just like Alomar and Vizquel they play short and second base |

February 1, 2009 Baltimore sent us a trade offer. They would send Brian Roberts and we would send Juan Uribe. This trade was a no-brainer. We had to accept. Brian led the MLB in stolen bases and was in the batting title race. Baltimore must be stupid or something. Second base was the only position where we lacked talent, and now we have Brian Roberts. |

March 1, 2009 Just as I thought we were complete, I stumbled across a diamond in the rough. Carlos Sanchez, a Venezuelan shortstop, who is often compared to Omar Vizquel. Negotiations were rough, but in the end we convinced him to play in Chicago. |

April 2, 2009 Opening Day is the most exciting time of the year for baseball fans. There is always so much enthusiasm, but when you have a great time like the Sox, it is the best feeling ever. The 2009 Sox were ready to start another season. Cleveland Indians 0-0 @ Chicago White Sox 0-0 Chicago started off the scoring in the second on back-to-back homers by Konerko and Thome.
