Thanks! :D I'm glad I've been able to keep it going this long (although, with a couple of long absent periods). I hope to make it the full ten years.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (60-71) @ Kansas City Royals (85-46)
August 30, 2013

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals were unable to pull out a win today against the Angels in a seesaw game. The Angels struck first with an RBI single by former Royal Jose Guillen. They added another in the second with an RBI single by Mike Napoli. Khalil Greene got the Royals going in the second with a solo homer and Alex Gordon tied it in the sixth with an RBI single. Finally, in the seventh Felipe Lopez gave the Royals the lead with an RBI double, but Kelvim Escobar was unable to hold it as he gave up an RBI triple to Reggie Willits in the eighth to re-tie it. Escobar left the game, but the bullpen was unable to prevent them from scoring more that inning as Chone Figgins drove in the go-ahead run with a single, and Jose Guillen jacked a solo blast. Caesar Izturis made it a three-run lead for the Angels in the ninth with an RBI double and it seemed the Royals were going to lose right there. Miraculously, the Royals managed to come back and tie it with an RBI double by Mark Teahen and a two-run double by Nick Johnson, sending this game to extras. There was very little action until the thirteenth inning when Connolly of the Angels blasted a solo homer to break the tie. Down to their last out in the bottom of the inning, Chris Conti tied it once again with a homer to right, continuing the game. It didn't take long for the Angels to counter, however, as Jose Guillen smashed his second homer of the game in the fourteenth. Jim Hoey came on in the bottom of the inning and sealed the win for the Halos.

August in Review

While the Royals were still over .500 for the month, August was their worst month of the season. It was their worst month of the year as far as pitching, giving up 99 runs, which surpasses April in which they gave up 94 runs. It also seemed to be a weak month offensively, scoring 111 runs in the month, beating only July in the monthly records. Kyle Davies continues his season of dominance, now with a record of 17-3 and an ERA at 1.79. While he has passed 30 home runs and 100 RBI, Nick Johnson's offensive production has decreased drastically from last month, now with his batting average dropping now to .280. Also, Chris Conti is having a stellar sophomore year, with a batting average almost at .270 with 12 homers and almost 60 RBI still with a month to go. The Royals now have a magic number of seventeen, edging closer and closer to the playoffs. They will need to pick it up in this last month if they want to do any damage in the playoffs.

ANAHEIM -- Jose Guillen provided the major blow against his former team tonight to give the Angels a win. The Angels scored three runs early on in the first against Anthony Ziegler with an RBI single by Chone Figgins and a two-run homer by Casey Kotchman. Ziegler would settle in after that inning. Nick Johnson single-handedly tied the game on two swings: a solo homer in the second and a two-run shot in the third. The game remained tied at three until the seventh when Chris Conti gave the Royals the lead with a two-run shot to center. But the Angels countered with more runs in the bottom of the inning. Caesar Izturis made it a one-run game with an RBI single, and Jose Guillen jacked a three-run homer to put the Angels up by two. Torii Hunter hit a solo homer in the eighth and David DeJesus smacked an RBI single in the ninth to finish off the scoring here tonight.

No, unfortunately. :( I don't know what's going on, but my pitching has been as solid as it had been before. I'm working on getting that back to normal. My bullpen just really sucks right now. You know you need help in your bullpen when you look up and down the list and can't find a guy you can trust to get outs.

Royals win fourth straight division title

Completing the sweep of the Indians on Sunday, the Royals locked up a postseason spot in the form of a division title. It is their fourth straight division crown going back to 2010. With the Athletics being the only other team to win their division so far and the American League east being in a four-way deadlock, it is unclear who the Royals will play first in the postseason. One thing is for sure, they will do all they can to come in more prepared, and leave with a better outcome than their loss to the Rays in the division series last year.
