Just for fun, one time I tried to do a Marlins season with only fast games--except I would make managerial changes, kind of like a Manager Mode. First game of the season, and I got perfectoed by Johan Santana. I resigned as manager of the Marlins following that game.

August in Review

The Royals had about a .500 month in August. They went 13-14, which is their second best month of the season behind June when they went 16-11. The team remains in last place in the division, nineteen and a half back of the White Sox who remain in first place. Overall, the Royals have a 58-79 record and are the third worst team in the majors, just a half game better than the Rangers with one less loss, and a whole 10 games better than the Nationals who are 48-89 on the season. Going into September, the races are sure to heat up. Here are the division leaders, as well as the wild card leaders. First for the American League. In the east, the Red Sox have claimed first place over the Yankees. In the central, the White Sox remain in first, and in the west, The Angels have overcome the Mariners. Now for the NL. In the east, the Mets are leading, and have the lowest magic number in the majors at 19. The Astros are barely edging the Reds, and the Dodgers are leading the west with the D'Backs and Rockies close behind. In the AL, the Indians are currently leading for the Wild Card, but the Yankees are right on their tail. In the NL, the Reds are the front runner for the Wild Card. Going into September, teams are aloud to expand their rosters to as many as forty players. It will be interesting to see who the Royals call up to try to make some good out of the last month of an awful season.

September Call-Ups

The Royals have made their September call ups, bringing up mainly pitching help. The only fielder they brought up was 1B Ryan Shealy to somewhat relieve Ross Gload, who has been the only first baseman on the roster besides DH Billy Butler. The Royals have called up four pitchers as well. They have called up relievers Joel Peralta, and Luke Hudson, as well as starters Kyle Davies, and veteran Hideo Nomo. Davies and Nomo will get spot starts when asked upon through the remainder of the season.
