In that no-no, did you see if he gave up any walks?

GIANTS LATE INNING RALLY ISN'T ENOUGH

PADRES 9 GIANTS 7

Things looked to be another pitcher duel until the game was opened up in the 6th. Gonzalez hits 2 Homers and that made the difference for the Padres. Zito had to leave the game with elbow pains. Bob Howry also complained of a Hamstring injury and is listed as day-to-day. Fred Lewis went 5-5 and that's the story for the Giants. Ishikawa was able to drive him home once. Pablo Sandoval hit his 1st homerun of the campaign, in his first at-bat after he almost knocked on out on his previous. The Giants will look to Randy Johnson to win the rubber match of the series.

THE UNIT INJURED?

Breaking news! Randy Johnson has recently been scratched from his start today against the Padres. In his place will be Jonathan Sanchez, making his first start of the year. Reports are saying that Johnson was scratched beacause of an injury to his knee.

Stamina has been an issue at times
Good control to complement a biting slider.
Good Changeup

GIANTS REBOUND THANKS TO AURILIA PINCH HIT HOMER

GIANTS 6 PADRES 2

Two costly errors in the 5th gave the Giants the lead, a lead they wouldn't lose. Sanchez pitched great, he ran into alittle trouble in the 4th surrendering 2 runs. Then, after two costly errors Sanchez scored on a Uribe sacrifice fly. Rich Aurilia put the game away with a 3 run home run in the 6th.

GIANTS ARE A .500 TEAM THROUGH 16 GAMES

After the Padres series, the Giants went on to lose game one of a four game series to the Cardinals in a crushing 10-1 pitching breakdown beatdown. However, in game two the Giants rebounded with a 5-2 win and also won game 3 2-0 as the Giants get the first shutout of the year. To end the series, the Giants lose 9-8 and split the series 2-2. To end the homestand, the Giants were hosting the Diamondbacks. The went on to win game one of three by a score of 7-3. However they go on to lose the last two of the series losing 7-6 and 8-4 respectively. The Giants now have a day off to prepare for their roadtrip to visit the all the teams they hosted. To start, a three game series with the Cardinals, then a two game set with the Diamondbacks, and end the roadtrip with a two game set at the Padres.

In other news, Kevin Frandsen says his injury was in the wrist and should be able to play in the next game.

MATT CAIN DOES IT AGAIN!
Image

It was a no-hitter, but a 1 hit CG shutout will do! As the Giants are propelled to victory 2-0 over the Cardinals. Cain had 20K this time and now has a 1.14 ERA.

In the post game conference Bruce Bochy was quoted as saying:

Quote:
This win should give us confidence for the rest of the roadtrip

The General Manager was also quoted as saying:
Quote:
I have offers coming in from many teams wanting to trade for Matt Cain.

Many people do not like this comment as obviously this could put pressure on Matt Cain to continue to perform at his current level. GM has been getting criticizem.

In other news, Japan great Hideo Nomo signed a 1 year deal with the White Sox with $600,000 guranteed and another million in incentives.

SERGIO ROMO GETS HIS FIRST SAVE OF CAREER AS GIANTS WIN 7-3

Sergio Romo pitched 3 perfect frames in relief of Tim Lincecum.

The Giants are 2-0 are on their roadtrip.
They go for the sweep of the Cardinals tomorrow.

The Unit got off to a rocky start, giving up 3 runs in 2 innings.

Randy settled down though and we scratched out way back and tied it up in the 7th.

Cardinals walk-off in the tenth and salvage a game.

GIANTS WIN GAME 1 AGAINST D-BACKS IN EXTRAS

2-0 Thanks to a Rowand 2 run shot. Noah Lowry pitches an AMAZING 10.2 innings with 15K 2BB and NO RUNS. Affeldt gets the win, going a third of an inning striking the one man out, and Brian Wilson gets his fourth save of the year, striking out the side in the bottom of the 11th.

Player of the Game:

His 10.2 innings of no run work saved the day for the run hungry D-Backs.

GIANTS WIN A PITCHERS DUEL 4-0

Max Scherzer and Zito pitched great, the first pitched 6 innings of 1 run ball, and Zito pitched 7 innings of no run ball. Bruce Bochy said he was being careful when taking out Zito as last time he pitched into the 8th inning he had to leave with elbow pains. However, Affeldt and Wilson pitched great in relief allowing 1 hit and no runs.

In other news, Texas Rangers have rejected a trade that would send David Murphy to the Giants for Bocock and cash considerations, and a Player to be named later, Buster Olney Reports.

GIANTS ARE THE COMEBACK KIDS!

GIANTS 6 PADRES 5

After a game tying Ishikawa Homer, his first of the campaign, the pitching broke down in the 8th, surrendering 4 runs making the score 5-1 Padres heading into the 9th. After 4 consecutive hits, and then a home run by Rowand, the deficit was erased, Brian Wilson came in for the save and retired the side in order.

LOSERS IN FINALE

PADRES 5 GIANTS 2

Disappointing end for the roadtrip. Now they head home for a 6 game homestand, three against the Reds and three against division rival Rockies.

ATROCIOUS!

Brandon Medders gives up 8 runs in 1/3 of an inning. with a 12-4 deficit in the 9th we come back by 4 to make it 12-8, but Kung Fu Panda flies out to end the game.

Brandon Medders has been outrighted to AAA immediately after the game, possible trade in the making?

Justin Ruggiano has been called up to replace him.

Ruggiano was batting .342 with 4 Home runs and 21 RBIs in 24 game with AAA.

Giants reject a trade that would send Todd Coffey to the them for a player to be named later.

Ouch for Medders, who was that player to be named later because you're gonna need someone to replaces Medders

Post subject:  Re: San Francisco Giants: A New Era Begins

Medders had a tough outing, I plan to call him back up on May the 1st and give him another shot, Ruggiano has been ineffective as a PH.
