AFTER 28 INNINGS IN THE BOOK, GIANTS WIN

GIANTS 1 NATIONALS 0

It was a tough game, everybody was tired, the bullpen is completely wiped. The Giants are looking for a good outing from Matt Cain to give the bullpen a good rest. In the end, I used all of my pitchers (except Cain, Johnson, and Zito) atleast once. Every batter had atleast 4 AB, the most AB was 12 for Aaron Rowand who went 3-12. I used over half of my team in those 29 innings.

Did you use any fielders to pitch?

WELCOME TO SAN FRAN B.J

The Giants have aqcuired B.J Upton in a blockbuster deal, sending Aaron Rowand, Barry Zito, and Eugenio Velez, as well as cash to the Rays for B.J Upton, Willy Aybar, and Scott Kazmir.

Rowand was a little disappointed about the trade beacause he's farther away from his hometown of Portland.

The Giants were able to dump off heaps of payload. The owner was estatic about the acquistion.

No, no fielders pitched, although I almost put Uribe to pitch. I was never short of a pitcher.

I've done that only twice. I've also done it with Ichiro.

GIANTS MAKE ANOTHER MOVE

The Giants traded away rookies Stephen Holm and Great Scott to the Athletics for Jack Hannrahan and Ryan Sweeney.

Let's take a look at how the Wild Card is going:

1) GIANTS 61-45 0GB
2) Marlins 57-51 4GB
3) Braves 56-50 5GB
4) Phillies 55-51 6GB
5) Cubs 52-55 9GB

We have the Wild Card lead although we only have a slim 4 Game lead. In our division, we are back only 5 games heading into August.

GIANTS ARE WHEELING 'N' DEALING

Yet another report of a trade comes in.

The Giants have sent OF Great Carroll, Japan player Keiichi Yabu, and first round draft pick Bridges to the Blue Jays for Brandon Fahey and their first round pick Valenzuela.

Lets compare Valenzuela with Bridges. The GM made a GREAT MOVE getting Valenzuela.

Bridges
S/L
23 years old
Con: G
Pwr: D
Run: G
Arm: F
Fld: G
E Res: F
Trj: 2

Valenzuela
S/R
19 years old
Con: E
Pwr B (142)
Spd: G
Arm: G
Fld: G
E Res G
Trj: 2

Obviously they both have lousy Defence, but if you compare their power, Valenzuela has a good 35 points more than Bridges. Valenzuela's Fielding may be atrocious, and would probably be a better suited DH. He's 19 though, for now I can use him as DH while I work on his fielding. I thought Valenzuela was to good not to pick up because we need a B powered guy. Of course, before I work on fielding, I need to get his Trj up to a 3.

WHAT'S HE THINKING!?!

What was going through the General Managers mind? He aqcuired Emilio Bonafacio from the Marlins, but at what cost? He gave away Fred Lewis, AND Juan Uribe, AND cash. The GM does have a response to all of this:

Quote:
Uribe was struggling, and trading him opens the door for younger players like Conor Gillaspie and Kevin Frandsen and Emilio Bonafacio to become a platoon. Maybe even Jack Hannrahan can play some games there. Fred Lewis, I just didn't think would compete next year for the LF job with all the other younger talent like Clay Timpner, Justin Ruggiano, Clete Thomas, Brandon Fahey, and Ryan Sweeney. The Marlins said money or no dice, so I had to throw a little bit in there. Attendance is up so we should be making more money. The gist of this trade was, their are too many players at each of their respective positions, we traded them not only beacause of struggles, but to also open up the doors for the younger players.

No significant deadline deals were made, except this one:

Mariners get:
Prince Fielder

Brewers get:
Felix Hernandez

Well sorry guys, I simmed all the way to October with a 91-71 record winning the wildcard. 7GB of the Dodgers in first. We play the heavily favored Mets.

this'll be interesting if I make the postseason then we'd be the only two logs to have the postseason at the same time

GIANTS WIN 8-3 GIANTS WIN 8-3

The Giants have won game one handily, 8-3. B.J Upton broke the game open in the fifth with an RBI double that sparked a 4 run fifth. The bullpen put latch on the Mets hitting. Giants lead 1-0

GIANTS LOSE GAME 2 10-3

Giants lost a heartbreaker. It may not look it though. The bullpen had a meltdown in the 6-8 innings that blew the game for us, by the 9th we were down 10-3 and sent down in order.
Tied 1-1

GIANTS LOSE GAME 3 11-3

This time unfortunately, it was a starting pitchers meltdown the Mets scratched across 2 runs in the first, 4 in the second, 1 in 3rd, and 3 in the 4th. The Giants were able to scratch a run out in the 6th and made a little to late comeback in the 9th scoring 2.
Mets lead 2-1

GIANTS ARE ELIMINATED IN FRONT OF HOME CROWD 5-1

The Mets kept knocking at the door getting a run in the 3rd and 4th, and finally 3 in the 6th. We were able to muster one run in the 5th with a solo shot by Edgar Renteria, nevertheless... The Giants have been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
Mets win series 3-1.

NLSC Match-up is Mets VS Dodgers
ALCS Match-up is Mariners VS Angels

Mets Eliminated Giants in 4, Dodgers Eliminated Cardinals in 3, Mariners Eliminated Yankees in 4, Angels Eliminated Indians in 5.

It's not really going to be interesting having two logs in the postseason...

Rich Aurilia played the best in our short postseason batting .745 with 1 Home run and 5 RBIs

Image

Mets Carlos Beltran gets the series MVP he batted a great .500 with 3HR and 7RBI and 2SB (although caught 4 times I think)

Mike Pelfrey Won the decidng game 4....

WORLD SERIES MATCH-UP!!!

Mets VS Angels

Mets eliminated Dodgers in 7, Angels eliminated Mariners in 4.

I predict a Mets victory.
